Can't give a prediction until I see the team sheet. Unless Edwards is fit to start then I have no idea who is going to play LWB.  FA has Clarke to play there but I thought he was more of a right sided defender & I dont think he'll make the starting 11 anyway. If TC starts there then its same old same old.

Perhaps we've signed a LWB but haven't announced it so it will be a surprise to Sheff U....🤷‍♂️

  • Last time we beat anyone half decent was Ipswich, in October.

Since then we've only beaten dross - West Brom & Oxford - both 1-0 and in both games we weren't a lot better than the opponent.

Sheff Utd are much improved, and obviously the 3 points would be huge. But besides bagging some points, I think all concerned would like to restore confidence that we can beat the better sides.

I think Clarke will be on the bench, NJ said he would need to be careful with his minutes to begin with.   The Ipswich reporter that Rich Cawley was talking to about Clarke said he definitely wouldn't play him as a LWB so will be interesting to see where he plays.
Ah...you gonna tell him (NJ) or shall I

If all of the below are available then I’d play:
    Kaminski
    Ramsay, Clarke, Jones, Burke, Fullah
    Coventry, Costello, Knibbs
    Leaburn, Kelman

There’s plenty of flexibility in terms of how those defenders line-up on the pitch.

Would much rather Fullah be given an opportunity to make us more attacking than Bree having another game.

Leaburn has to start after his Chelsea performance.

Subs: Mannion, Gough, Macca, Bree, Doc, Tanto or Apter, Campbell, Dykes & Carey

Really going to be tough until we get Bell Edwards and the new Lwb or whatever. Need to battle and I'm happy with the first two additions.

Did NJ say there would be changes this weekend compared to the FA cup game? Pre Chelsea game this was.

I was hoping less hoofball,  more possession, passing, forward play and the surprise signing of Lewis Hall - who is closet addick!

                      Kaminski
            Burke   Jones   Ramsay
    Bree    Costello  Coventry   TC
                       Carey
               Leaburn  Kelman

I would go with this team. TC is unfortunately still our best option at LWB. He has been fine at wing back when he’s had Bell covering behind him, so I’d play Ramsay there as our next best option at that covering role.

Sheff Utd’s right side is dangerous. The right winger Brooks is left footed, so Ramsay being right footed could be ideal to defend against that. Then TC can just deal with the right back Seriki, which will be a tough test.

This is the team I was thinking/expecting as well. I'm really hopeful that Burke, Ramsay, and TC are fit and if TC is fit then I agree he's our best fit option at LWB. Ramsay would provide good, mobile cover for him.

As with so much this season, I expect the scoreline will come down to who is fit enough to start. Like I said hopefully it's the above three. If not...I really don't know. Ramsay could do a job at LWB but would you start him there after he's been dealing with injury? We saw how that worked for Bell.

At least up front we get to see more of the burgeoning partnership between Miles and Kelman.

I'm hoping for the best but fearing the worst.

    1-1

The left wing back situation is still causing us a problem and needs addressing. I was hoping that of all the positions, this would be the one that would be addressed first in the window, it hasn't. That being the case then I would agree with Naby, that Tyreece is the best in that position, where I don't agree with Naby is the inclusion of Carey and Gillisphey, both suffering from a loss of form, so that leaves the left side centre back position open, oh bugger I haven't got a clue, that being the case it's a draw for me.

1-3 loss hope I’m wrong but have a feeling Sheffield United will be up for this wanting revenge for us spoiling Wilders comeback party.

If we can channel some of the determination showed during that away win into our home performance today, I can see a 2-0 win.

Sheffield United have won 7 out of their last 10 and are scoring quite frequently at the moment. Expect they will fly up the table and might even be in the play off conversation by the end of the season

I think if we can keep up our decent home record and get a draw that would be a very good result given the circumstances

After Leaburn's lively motivated game against Chelsea last week he must start with Kelman up front with Dykes on the bench and ready for a 20 minute cameo depending on the score after 70 mins.
With the opaque game Nathan plays when talking about  fitness of our players we have to guess on who is available for today or Tuesday ?
We need to get partnerships going all over the field similar to the 1st 10 games as we look shaky with the ever changing personnel in defence because of constant injuries.

So important we get back to winning ways after snatching a draw from the jaws of victory against Blackburn and the mauling against Chelsea.

It feels like a 1-1 draw at best but I would love to be proved wrong and CAFC take 3 points.

Put Gough in place of Gillesphey in defense and if Clarke’s not ready or isn’t considered right to play on the left then put Gillesphey left midfield. I get fed up with all the Gillesphey bashing. He has defensive frailties, I agree, but he’s a good footballer with great vision for an incisive pass. I’d like to see him given a chance in midfield and if that must be as a left wing back then at least he wouldn't be too central if he makes one of his mistakes.

its a lot easier to play good passes from defence when you have the whole pitch laid out in front of you, nobody behind you and you haven't been running up and down the pitch all game - got to say, thats one of the worst shouts i've seen on here for some time, if not the worst - would be a complete duck out of water

I think the issue with the LWB position is also the answer to it. TC is the problem because I think he tends to create a gap that gets exploited. He’s a player that has to be kept switched on all the time by keeping him occupied. He thrives when he’s constantly pushed towards his limits, whereas if you let him take a breather he becomes static even if it’s momentarily. Against Chelsea, however, I thought he was outstanding in that first half where he and the rest of the team were being pushed back. That LWB position may well be his natural position. We just need to fill the gap in front of him.

i think moving TC to wing back ( i understand why / circumstances) has impacted the game of others - although his stats aren't good, when up top he was dragging teams around and scaring them which was creating space for the likes of carey or the opposite flank players - its a conundrum but hopefully not for too much longer once we finally sign a left wing back

They will score and that’s stating the bleeding obvious.
I am hoping that we we have our shooting boots on so 3-2 to us.
    Time for my medication.

If Bree does not start today I think we can conclude he is already on his way back to Southampton, as is being reported in the press.
That will mean we have 3 definitely match-fit defenders left to fill 5 places, Jones, Gillesphey and the boy Gough, and a number of half-fit maybes, Burke, Ramsay and Clarke.
Not a very impressive window yet.

Until we get a fit left back/lwb who can last a full 90min best we can hope for is a draw or snatch an against the grain 1-0. No matter who we face, currently we'd struggle to beat even Wednesday, at home.

Im sure this will be addressed just very very disappointing ot hasn't as yet

The lack of a decent lwb to protect Gillesephy (if he plays) is a problem. A decent LWB protects Gillesephy.

The lack of decent cover for injuries on left side seriously threatens to derail the season.
Not feeling overly confident of result today. Any points we will pick until left side is fixed is a bonus.

Championship is a strong league with well resourced teams. Success needs decent cover throughout the team (not cover from injury prone players) . Its not something that can be done on a shoestring budget.

Today could be a proper hiding. They are scoring a lot of goals and our defence is depleted.
Appreciate it won’t happen but maybe today is the game to change our formation and forget the WB’s

We need to play a front 2 though. Kelman and Leaburn partnership is the best thing about us at the moment. So we basically need to play 3-5-2, as a 4-4-2 would probably leave us way to open
