I think your all nuts. He was ok. He was playing non risky safe passes (like prem teams do). Made a couple of mistakes like everyo else.10

Constantly looking to go backwards even against 9 men. Good without the ball, shocking with it.3
-
Safe passes aren't what we want/need when we're playing 9 men and on the edge of their box. One point he got the ball laid off to him, maximum 25 yards out and with space infront, and his first move was to spin around away from goal and pass backwards 20 yards to Jones2121 said:I think your all nuts. He was shite and if Coventry were ever out for any long period of time we’re in serious trouble.
Seriously hope we bring in another CM in the next week or so.3 -
I think we’d see Doc cover Cov rather than Anderson start every week.covered_end_junior said:He was shite and if Coventry were ever out for any long period of time we’re in serious trouble.

I agree but Docs not good enough either really is he. We need more quality in midfield.Scoham said:

Played a couple of really good passes, one blinder. Won the ball a couple of times up the pitch
Needs more football as otherwise looked like he was about to shit himself every time the ball came near him and mishit some very easy passes.

I like Karoy, but his decision making isn’t good enough at this level, you want him to put energy in with 15 to go, but not to dictate a game

People really do watch a different game don't they.2121 said:I think your all nuts. He was ok. He was playing non risky safe passes (like prem teams do). Made a couple of mistakes like everyo else.
He gave the ball away multiple times and even managed to put a simple 3 yard pass out for a throw in. He was a liability in the first half.3 -

Anderson can't play as a 6, as he gets caught in possession too often, and in incredibly dangerous positions, near our goal
He needs to be further up the pitch, where his energy and pressing can be an asset. And where his poor distribution is less likely to give opponents chances to break.5 -
His safe passes were invariably bad passes. He's a headless chicken and needs consistent football at a lower level to see if he can improve.2121 said:I think your all nuts. He was ok. He was playing non risky safe passes (like prem teams do). Made a couple of mistakes like everyo else.0 -
Agree. Him and JRC just didn't work today. One of them can take the Doc roll, but neither of them can play the Cov roll.fenaddick said:Fine as a double pivot next to Coventry, not good enough there on his own0 -
Unfortunately for Karoy he’s at his best when he doesn’t have the ball, that’s not ideal for a footballer. He needs to start looking forward and be more precise with his passing, and if there is space to run into with the ball, then do it!!. He has the physical attributes to do that.2
-
Not sure you can put a lack of minutes down to Anderson’s passing. He broke into the first team 3 years ago and despite developing well in terms of his physicality and off the ball work I don’t think he’s improved at all technicallyAlwaysneil said:Played a couple of really good passes, one blinder. He was too high, too left, or too right, and over committed in dangerous areas where he should have backed off. He was all over the place.
Can understand why NJ started him because Sheff Utd had a lot of physicality and Conor has been struggling against the more physical midfielders, but Karoy is definitely not ready for that kind of opposition.2 -
Going to suggest everyone has a look at the second half of page 24 and the first half of page 25. A reminder of Curbs old advice to not get too high with the highs and too low with the lows4
-
For every good thing Anderson does he has 2 to 3 bad things to undo it. This isn't a new criticism of him either. It's been consistent in his career so far.0
-
My biggest issue with him is his passing. Almost always puts the ball behind the man when we are breaking etc.
I think there’s a player in there, but it’s not at CDM.2 -
Needs a full season in league one (not with us), not ready for the Championship and that is clear for all to see.1

His technique in possession is very poor. Feels like the ball is in control of him when he receives to feet.
Also, amazed the ref didn't blow for a penalty in the first half when he blatantly pushed their attacker with two hands on the back as he was about to shoot. A penalty all day long.2 -
He was ropey first half but much better second half. Don’t think the deep position is his strength as he’s not the outlet for the defence in the way Coventry is. If we’re talking midfielders though, JRC didn’t make much of a contribution either.1
-
He has poor technique and his passing is very poor, his only real attribute is his energy. Unfortunately, in my opinion, he’ll never be a Championship level player.0
-
The biggest concern is he hasn’t improved his ball control in the almost three years he has been in the squad which is why the best thing for him is a loan where he will play consistently even through the rough patches. There is too much for us at stake right now for that to be with us0
-
You can teach/coach a player with good technical and passing skills how to be more physical and intense in a press much easier than you can teach an athletically gifted player how to be a varied passer and technician.
I do think Anderson has got a place in the squad, but it's probably not as a starting player and it's definitely not as a defensive midfielder in the Coventry role.2 -
I rate anderson (needs more gametime for experience), but can agree that maybe his role needs to change until he matures. Maybe he comes on for our attacking midfielder when we are defending a lead to press from the front0
-
I also rate him,,,, generally a 4 out of 10!!2121 said:I rate anderson (needs more gametime for experience), but can agree that maybe his role needs to change until he matures. Maybe he comes on for our attacking midfielder when we are defending a lead to press from the front0 -
If we stay up I suspect he will find it harder to get minutes next season as we (would presumably) seek to continue improving the squad. If we get relegated then he probably has a part to play in the squad.
As someone else said, I think it is easier to turn a player who is technically gifted into a more physical player. Karoy has never looked technically gifted to me and is certainly not improving in that regard.0 -
If we stay up i'd definitely move him on. He's not a Championship player but now has a few Championship appearances under his belt , all be it not great ones.0

Ran around like a headless chicken yesterday and got easily pulled out of position which united did repeatedly. Always takes the safe option which can be frustrating, sometimes you need a calculated risk from your central midfielder, hopefully that will come. He’ll burst into life at some points and put in a brilliant Parker-esque challenge and you think “this could be some player” but rarely follows it with more or a ball forward.A league one loan and regular first team football is an absolute must for me, however this also means us bringing in another central midfielder as well…0
