That was a horrible 'tackle', and I just watched it in slow motion..their player ended up running with all his weight on Knibbs's ankle and leg.

    Get well soon!

Is there any news on the injury yet? Was it a break?

He came back to the dugout during the 2nd half on crutches and leg in a protective boot. Would think if it was as serious as a break he'd have gone to hospital.
  • Guess they'll send him for a scan in midweek.

Sounds a lot better than it could have been.

Got to be a sprain, minimum. More likely some ligament damage. If he didn’t go straight to hospital that hopefully indicates it at least wasn’t a break which it very easily could’ve been. We need all the options we can get at the moment but, equally, he hasn’t especially impressed and we have Carey, Berry, and Fullah as alternatives so there are more key players we could have lost.

A break would possibly be better than ligament damage… severe ligament damage could end his season, an ankle break is possible to recover from in 6-8 weeks

Didn’t Edwards have the exact same thing and he’s been out for nearly 4 months now? Knibbs definitely could have been worse if he had gone straight to hospital but doesn’t mean it’s necessarily good

the more I see the challenge the worse it looks. The suspension should match the length of the injury in scenarios like these

I recall it being quite different, I cant recall the original incident exactly, but I recall too well that he got up after treatment and carried on. About a minute later there was a throw in on the West side and he ran all the way across to take a long throw, tried it, then staggered in obvious pain. I think he’s been out so long because he aggravated it. I’d say that in fact the tackle on Knibbs was much more like that disgraceful tackle on Josh from Clare- and again shows the difference between the ref yesterday and the usual level  we get, as Clare got away with a yellow.

Doubt they’ll know anything for a few days as think it’s necessary to let the swelling go down before any scans.

Ligament damage can be worse than a broken bone. Unfortunate for him

Not really that surprising honestly, but it's a real shame

Don't worry, we have plenty of time in this window to bring in better replacements.

That's brutal. Gutted for him. We do at least have cover in that area. I do worry about Berry's quality and Fullah's lack of experience, whereas I felt like there was more to come from Knibbs. But yeah, a shame. They're dropping like flies.

Frustrating in Knibbs case that it was such a nasty untimed tackle, and the player who did it, gets away with missing just three games

The small silver lining is it doesn't sound like we'll rush him back and he will be able to actually get in a full preseason which he didn't last year. Of course that does depend on just how severe the damage is

The referee has said he saw his Knibbs’ leg buckle. Three match suspension for the Sheff U player doesn’t feel enough.

Suspension for as long as the player is injured for, if it's a tackle like this one. An innocuous tackle that injures someone is different, but this was pure malice and players should suffer the consequences

It might not feel like much but I think if a player has to go off injured immediately following a red card as happened with Knibbs you shouldn’t have to burn a substitution.

Imagine if Carey had to go off injured as well that would have left us with only one opportunity left to bring on the three remaining subs apart from half time, that can’t be right surely?

Wouldn't be feasible, it would put too much pressure on a referee to try and gage intent vs innocuous and then the way to appeal it would end up being a nightmare.

Wonder if there are any Charlton tops on show in the sports bar in Greenwich?
