Our midfield is too soft. Would rather sign some physicality in there than a playmaker. Don’t think Costello won a 50:50 all game today, that’s why he’s not been playing
We need to improve on the ball too, we need more than a better version of Anderson.
One of those players can be Coventry in the short to medium term - we need someone who can compliment him, good with their positioning and can pick a pass up the field to relieve some pressure.
That Dobson lad at Wrexham looks ok
Coventry is fine but he was never an upgrade on Dobson.
Come on …. We are in silly season now Coventry is leagues better than Dobson … and has been since the day we signed him … Coventry was the only player we had any enquiry about in the summer …
Cheers Ronnie. With you disagreeing, now I know I'm right.

The dropping of Coventry is one of the only things I agree with right now, been awful
Agree he's been bad. NJ has called him out for letting people run off him. At the same time, I've never asked that Karoy replace him. We could use someone better, but that area is not the biggest of our issues right now.

So maybe a 2 in 2 out week? I'd love it to be more like 3/4 in but I feel like that's perhaps stretching it wanting 2 CMs an LWB and an LCB in.

Tanto out on loan and possibly AMB???
I think Doc, Tanto, AMB and maybe one like Anderson/Apter will depart. I also think Rousillion and Hernandez will leave.

I think we’ll bring in Bree, a LCB and a couple of midfielders (one attacking and one defensive)

Massive window for the club as I feel relegation could see us drifting away like the last time we dropped from the Champ.
Can't see Bree coming in & I cant see any money being spent......unless we sell a player to "balance the books".  Sorry to say the writing has been on the wall since the summer. Limited budget with the ethos that if we get relegated then so be it & we come back stronger next season. Rodwell said as much in  the week.

Anyone serious about staying up would have brought in a LWB as soon as they could & not left it 3 weeks before bringing in someone only fit enough to play 45 mins.
If we go down, next season a rejuvenated Wednesday could do a Birmingham and spend a shed load of cash.
    Leaving just one automatic spot.
If we get relegated it will take us 5+ years to get promoted again, esp with NJ  "at the wheel" 🙄.

Agreed, would have liked to have seen a CM come in, might have bodies in midfield but not much between them all and all quite similar. Cov was the best one in my mind but has looked off it for a while

I’ve actually been messaging a close mate who’s Millwall and has been for life.

He was shocked at how bad we are, the lack of effort, not to mention the amount of leniency and excuses being trotted out by our fanbase.

They would never stand for it.

Millwall fans were watching NJ and said they were so shocked by the touchline antics it was more bemusement than laughing.

He’s convinced he will take us down and said Rowett would make us harder to beat and stabilise the ship. Thought it was an interesting angle from Millwall that is genuine.

Would love to hear @MillwallFan viewpoint too
  • About a week ago we needed 5 defenders (NJ).  Now we have a half fit, juvenile from Liverpool and we "probably need one more".
This. He was going to sign as many as he could (think it was actually five more for each WB position). Not sure what part of today's game left him thinking our defence is basically there?

Absolute fucking madness not to get another LWB (actually a LB - emphasis on defending) and an upgrade on LCB. If not then we are relying on Bell to come back and stay fit, and Chambers to stay fit and turn out to be a top quality defensive wing back.

Rowett did a good patching job at Oxford, I wouldn’t want him long term though

He’s not good enough in the champ

Rowett would patch up the holes but you'd want a new manager in the summer. Fine if you need a firefighter, less confident about him long term.

I honestly don’t know what people see in Rowett that’s no different from Jones. Oxford were absolute dog against us and their owners gave Rowett some dough!

I can visualise TC leaving, going to a more attacking team who play with proper wingers and become the best winger in the league. Can just see it 😂
Would need to learn how to cross a ball first

You wouldn't get anything different. I thought them sacking Des Buckingham for him in the first place was a bit of a weird one.

Don't bet on it. Not seen ST prices fall when we've got relegated before.

Wonder if with Knibbs out for the rest of the season and not wanting to rely too much on Fullah if another attacking midfielder might be on the cards along with more of an "8" type.

I know NJ loves Berry but he's at the stage where it's 15-20 mins off the bench.
It's surely more likely to be in the engine room.

In his interview with Carley/Mendez, NJ didn't think any of his central midfielders were playing well at the moment, and demanding to be picked.
Doesn't help if one of them (JRC) sat on the bench for 4 months then came into the side & played well. Then after a couple of matches he was dropped to the bench again. Same with Berry......didnt play for months & then was a starter for a few matches. Now we see it with Anderson.

NJ doesn't know his best 11. Jeez.....he doesn't even know his best 18.
Does anyone know our best XI?

I'm sure if you ran a poll you'd get a lot of different XI's.

“It’s a big week coming up”

“We know we probably need a defender”

“We know we need a midfielder that can control a game, dominate a game”

“If you look at today, we need tempo and that’s not the case”
Yeh, because that’s how HE sets the team up.
He isn’t playing FIFA… he can tell the players what he wants but if they can’t execute it…
It’s coaching. If they can’t execute it he isn’t doing his job.

So looking at everything now we probably need:

    IN
    lwb
    lcb
    rwb/cb
    midfielders (2?)

others has mentioned but I wouldn’t mind seeing how much Elewere is costing as from above it seems we have first refusal on him?

    Out
    Karoy
    Doc
    Macca
    Olafe (Loan)
    Aprer (Loan)

Only one person. And the only decent player from that side was an ex-Charlton academy product playing for Millwall yesterday.

Exactly the one player we should’ve moved on fast was him. Forget Kaminski and Burke and use that money on Alfie.

(I think Bell has been quite good for us injury apart)

The sort of movement that you are describing is exactly what we should have been doing at the start of the window.
But now with just over a week to go I think we have probably left it too late to get all this done.

Don't think we were ever dropping £4-5m on Alfie in the summer , he's a spanner anyway and we had a fit Josh Edwards. NJ would have had to play Josh LCB or something 😅

Dobson can’t get in the wrexham team at the moment. He wouldn’t be the answer in this side. We are missing an experienced central midfielder like a Pratley

They have played 29 games. He has played the full 90 mins in 19 of them and over an hour in 23 of them.  Been in their squad every single one and not come off the bench 3 times. I would say he is a pretty integral first team player for them... in 6th place in the Championship.
