Winter-January 2026 Transfer Window Rumours ...

Has anything even been mentioned about Hernandez's injury? Seems like everyone else we kinda know where we're at with bar him.0

I think a strong central midfielder who can link up play and who can tackle is the number one priority and then maybe another centre half5

Berkshire, I think you need to calm down a little, you are predicting events that haven't yet materialised and everybody on here understands how important this week is with regards to incoming quality players, wait and see.Berkshire1970 said:

Only detail I've seen is that it's a hamstring injury. Like Roussillon his contract may be coming to an end soon, if it hasn't already.MarcusH26 said:Has anything even been mentioned about Hernandez's injury? Seems like everyone else we kinda know where we're at with bar him.1 -
Will be taking a read of Amiens Life over the weekend.MarcusH26 said:

I don't think any of us care. But in answer to the question, he was allegedly given a four month contract, part of that deal was that he was to eat less than Rousillon and check in at two stone lighter, at 18 stone he smashed it.MarcusH26 said:Has anything even been mentioned about Hernandez's injury? Stop getting signings wrong

As things currently stand I think our only hope of avoiding relegation is if two other teams disintegrate at the same rate as us and we get a bit of luck. I’m assuming Sheffield Wednesday are already down. I’m struggling to see where our next win comes from. Were that awful7

Have a go at me all you like but just remember it took us 5 years to get out of League One last time and that was by way of the play offs......not by storming the League like Birmingham.SouthLincsAddick said:
Spot on, a lot of it comes from a small but vocal ill-informed and unrealistic minority like Golfie. The owners want to build and grow the club in a sustainable way and not throw millions at it gambling on instant success. It will take this season and possibly next before we grow our BOTTOM THREE BUDGET, sorry had to use caps as so many people just don’t get it. It’s going to be painful this season and possibly next before three seasons of Championship income translates into Championship quality players in most positions. I’d say get behind the team and manager as this chance may not come along for a while, remember how long we were languishing in L1!superdulvertonred said:Don’t get this negativity towards the owners backed NJ financially in the summer (not all of which have worked to date) and NJ has said they continue to support him this window. There is nothing to suggest that if we get relegated this season we will get promoted back within a couple of years. The "5 year plan" could be a mere dream by then......and the ownership off in the sunset when they realise exactly how much it will take to get promoted back to the Championship.15 -
You are typing here as if our place in the Championship is secured right now and we can build again in the summer?SouthLincsAddick said:

If we go down we are buggered again, and if I am being honest, if we don't sign some quality, or sack Jones, I reckon we are down.
At some point we have to become a club who spends a lot of money, or the board are basically admitting they don't have the ambition to be a stable Championship club.
It is no coincidence that ourselves, Pompey, Oxford and Blackburn are 4 of the lowest wage bills/spenders, and all 4 of us find ourselves hovering around the relegation zone or in it. You have to spend to stay afloat in this League, there are no underdogs stories here, unless it's for one season, ask Rotherham, Barnsley, Wycombe, Plymouth, Peterborough etc.
The owners need to spend money, whether that's paying off Jones and getting in whatever they can, or backing him. If we do nothing, I would say it is likely we go down unfortunately.17 -

Agree with sentiments above. If we go down this year there is no telling how long it could take to get out of League One again. Any five year plan could become a ten year plan. Even if, as some suggest but I don’t agree with, we got promoted a year early and are ahead of the plan why waste this opportunity? The owners need to spend a bit of cash in the next week to give us a boost and a real chance of staying up. Even then it might not be enough but if it isn’t it hopefully increases the chances of bouncing straight next season.
I’m fully behind NJ, yes he’s made mistakes and yes things need to change but he needs backing now otherwise I honestly think we will go down.15 -
Clutching at straws. We can’t rely on other teams. We have to try and win 5 maybe 6 matches. For the life of me I can’t think where those wins are coming from. I know I am being pessimistic but my rose tinted glasses are at the menders.timken said:

The bookies, who look at things more dispassionately than we do, have Charlton as the 5th most likely team to go down which is somewhat reassuring.timken said:

10m isn’t a great deal of money to bring in eight players in the Championship. If we’d bought Championship proven players with 10m we’d have signed two, three at most. As it was we signed either players who were cheap/free as they had dubious injury records (Burke, Bell) or those who were deemed of being the better players in League One who we hoped could step up (Apter, Kelman, Tanto). The outliers were Kaminski and JRC, who you could argue haven’t lived up to billing but even then JRC hasn’t really been given a proper run, and Carey who has stepped up to a degree.AberystwythAddick said:

If we are a year ahead of schedule but go down then we will be a year behind immediately as the schedule was for Championship football in 26/27 season I assume.
Our owners stated aim is to be the fourth best London club (I guess after Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea). We will need to invest a lot more than we have so far to achieve even close to that. So far they have moved us from 10th best placed London club to... 10th best placed London club.

The act of spending money guarantees nothing. It has to be spent on the right players, Jones so far has provided no confidence that he is able to get the required players through the door.thenewbie said:
