I’m afraid to say these owners are highly unlikely going to put their hands in their pockets. We need four permanent signings not loans because we are currently a very poor championship team. We have zero chance to stay up! Rumours now mean nothing & I have only one conclusion and that is this current ownership group will leave once we drop down to league 1. We still don’t own any assets and we’re back to where we started. Absolutely fuming!
Whilst I agree it looks bleak.Blackburn are on a worse run than us and oxford are still in trouble.
Glad that brings you some comfort

No they won’t cause it’s a 4/5 year plan .. the amount of work and money that gone in to rebuilding the structure of the club .. they will want to see it through , that’s why Jones got  a 5 year deal .. he will still be in  the job this season and next whatever happens .. think reality has to kick in some point .. we in a tough league where 8 teams are living of parachute money .. even spending 12 mill last summer and another 20 ready to go this summer that still no where near enough for the championship nowadays .. fact is 4th from bottom this season will be the biggest achievement this club has archived for many many years .. we all know we were not ready for the championship yet the .. but we are in it and we have to try and stay there if we can .. but you can now see why there been so many yo yo clubs ..who use the parachute money from championship to league  one to add  again to get promoted back are are stronger for it …
They might have to plan for much lower attendances at the Valley next season if the team keep serving up the dross we have been watching since November.

AND rethink that Membership Scheme that's apparently based on how the Prem clubs make it work....

Our transfer policy of signing League One players for inflated fees and then loaning them back is incredible.

Might as well throw a couple of million at Orient for Ballard. We’ll probably get a good deal considering he’ll return in the summer.

Not giving Rob Apter a chance in his position is madness. I’ve actually thought he’s looked reasonably good anytime he’s been on.

I cannot believe the owners have just withdrawn investment in a critical window as this. Oxford have set the tone by giving it a go.
Where does this nonsense come from, people need to get off Facebook groups

Don’t need Facebook groups pal! Investment was crucial in January and nothing has transpired
Given that Dykes and Clark were established Championship players (and played in the Prem too), they wont have been playing for Peanuts, so even if they are only on £10K a week that's still half a million quid a year each plus the employment overheads (maybe agent costs too).
10k aweek( if they are only on)
Give me strength if that’s the money Charlton are paying them , no wonder we are up shit street.

I hope we're looking further afield too. The Scandinavian leagues for a start. We were linked with the player from Switzerland so I'm hoping that's the case.

They might have to plan for much lower attendances at the Valley next season if the team keep serving up the dross we have been watching since November.

On the upside it will solve the kiosk queuing / service and turnstile issues 🙁🤔

I put that list into AI and it reckons Clarke-Salter, Ben Gibson or Mbete are our best bets to get in

EXCLUSIVE! Dundee Utd make move for keeper

Dundee United have made a move for Charlton Athletic keeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer.

The Terrors have agreed a deal to sign the 26-year-old on a permanent basis.

Maynard-Brewer has been given the green light to travel north to complete his Tannadice switch.

The keeper has been at Charlton for more than a decade but is ready to move on to get regular first-team football.

The Australian is capped at under-23 level and also knows that a good run of form between now and the summer could open the door for him to gatecrash their World Cup squad.

United already have fellow Australians Ryan Strain and Zac Sapsford, who both have similar dreams and ambitions for this summer.

Maynard-Brewer is no stranger to Scotland, as he previously had a loan spell with Ross County back in the 2021-22 season.

He has more than 70 appearances for the Addicks. The shot-stopper has also had loans at Chelmsford City, Hampton and Richmond Borough, Dulwich Hamlet, Dover Athletic and Gillingham

Maynard-Brewer will compete with Dave Richards who has had the gloves since Yevhenii Kucherenko was sold to Panetolikos.

United could also add further with interest in the likes of Will Ferry and Julius Eskesen.

Will be interesting to see if NJ is comfortable with just Mannion as cover. Maclorg and Reid are out on loan which leaves Hardy as the third choice now.

This site saying Blackpool are one of the clubs who are interested in signing Apter on loan.
Imagine buying players from clubs then loaning them back there 6 months later, almost unheard of and yet we might do it with 2 players in one window!
Says a lot that they want to go back to their 'happy places'
Just how toxic have things got??

Don’t get this negativity towards the owners backed NJ financially in the summer (not all of which have worked to date) and NJ has said they continue to support him this window. It seems that some of our fan base will not be happy unless we are spending millions and millions at every opportunity
For what's it worth I dont mind the signings we made. Ive also said that we can do enough to stay up based on earlier performances but we didn't sign all we needed too, is that us not paying enough in fees or in wages or are we not an attractive enough proposition to try bring in the bigger hitters?

But with the signings we have made, we can afford to be flexible in our shape and we aren't. Bell was a hazard to play at LWB so we play him there with no proper cover if/when he gets injured. NJ could have switched to a back 4 earlier (Bree could also play LB) and then played with wingers, which we have an abundance of but it doesn't happen because of outright stubbornness.

We have needed pragmatism to give us the best chance of survival and we haven't had that at all.
I think the Bree performance at left back last week showed that he really can’t play left back. Ramsay has struggled there also when we’ve moved him there. It’s not like we haven’t tried these things to solve our left side issue

Our abundance of wingers is actually just 2 players. Neither proven at this level to provide the goal/assist output we’d need from them in that kind of setup, and if either needed subbing you’ve got to play Fullah or Tanto out of position

We’ve switched formation so many times the last few months. The problem wasn’t Jones pragmatism or flexibility, the problem was we didn’t have a left back so literally nothing we tried worked!
Dont think we have changed systems much have we? I agree the left side has been an issue, clearly as day. It is worth noting we signed Rousillion and never actually played him then putting TC, Fullah and others in that position. I refuse to believe that one position is the reason for our downfall. We cant score goals either and that isnt down to the left side. I also think Bree would be better in a flat 4 at LB.

For me we have 4 (5 if Hernandez stays) Tanto, TC, Fullah and Apter.

I dont think there has been enough pragmatism. Just shoehorning players instead of trying to adapt.
Some games, including Saturday, we played 3 different systems in one game. Think against Southampton we did 3 in 1 half. We started a back 4 against Boro and it was a disaster until we changed to a 3 again

FWIW I agree with your takes generally, including that the LWB issue has caused most of our problems including going forward, but I'm not sure I agree we have shown we can't play a back four.

This point in particular re Middlesborough - that was about a lot more than the back four. We played a narrow diamond providing absolutely no width in midfield. Individuals seemed to have no idea where they were supposed to be (I remember Knibbs and Carey in particular wandering around in no man's land over and over again) and they destroyed us on the wings, switching it over the midfield and running at the back line unchecked until they were on the edge of the box

Very recent loans too so would be poor form to recall them, especially Reid

Has anything even been mentioned about Hernandez's injury? Seems like everyone else we kinda know where we're at with bar him.
Hernandez's was training with the rest of the squad players earlier
Well that's the left sided problem solved then.

It's not a great look if Tanto and Apter go back to their old clubs.
It's a slightly better look if we bring in top quality replacements.
I'm not convinced that will happen.

When we were told they were players for the future, I wrongly assumed they meant Charlton's future.
Obviously they were talking about Blackpool and Stockport's future success.

In truth if any of those two end up going back the people bringing them in will look like complete amateurs. Probably get some spin about not settling in the area rather than the real reasons. Don’t think we will ever know what’s gone on, but some honesty from the club would be refreshing. The way things are looking we’re going to get more bullshit by the end of the week.

I heard NJ wasn't too impressed with Mannion and was going to play TC as rush goalie.
