    This is what annoys me. Every other club in the Championship is creative with their transfers, looking for value, a rough diamond etc.

    All we every do is sign middle-old, British players ideally with a link to Luton. The requisite qualities required seem to be they players can't pass or keep the ball, they are just have to be stoppers or workhorses.

    My concern is that when NJ does inevitably go in the next 2-4 weeks, the new manager will be looking around asking where is the ability to pass, create or sprint. It's such a poorly constructed squad totally in the image of NJ.

    If Jones keeps us up he’s done a great job and deserves to go again next summer with hopefully us being able to be a bit more ambitious in our recruitment 
    IF he does then maybe that's fair.

    My own opinion is that even in the 4 years since his 6th place finish with Luton, the league has moved on. I don't see the long ball stuff working over time, and I don't enjoy watching it.

    Doesn't mean I'm not grateful to him, but the game doesn't stand still and right now we've been found out and so far don't have an answer.
    I’m sorry but that just isn’t true. 3 of the current championship top 6 are also in the bottom 8 for possession this season. Preston, Derby, QPR and Bristol City are also having good seasons and challenging for the play offs

    If anything the league is moving further away from technical and more towards valuing physical attributes, as teams have realised the physical jump to the premier league is huge and why teams keep coming straight back down 

    Fair enough if you don’t enjoy watching it or don’t rate Jones anymore, but the style definitely works at this level still

    I think this is interesting, I’m certainly not an expert on football tactics but there has actually been a shift away from tippy tappy possession football in the Premier League back to set pieces, corners , long throws and the long ball. 
    I think our problem is that ( and we have lost the Josh Edwards long throw) we just aren’t as good at Nathan’s preferred tactical approach as we need to be ! 
    I agree its not great to watch but none of us would care if it was working but it isn’t

    If we could bring in a match fit left back to suit our budget and fit our style of play, I can 100% categorically guarantee that Jones and the board would have done so.

    Leicester fans context for Coady is in a Championship promotion season and a relegation from the Premier League, very different to ours and the standard/speed of the PL is worlds apart.
    Did you miss the bit from the Wrexham fans saying he was slow when he played at the start of this season in the Championship ?  It took Parky 5 games before he dropped him and supposedly he's not played since.

    And are you telling me that there are no fit left backs in the whole of Europe ?  Yes, they might cost a bit of money but thats what it takes to stay in this League. What was it Oscar Wilde said about knowing the price of something & the value of nothing. It will cost more than a couple of million if we get relegated & are stuck in League One for another 5 years.

    Why is Coady ‘good’ if back up? The point being made by Wrexham fans is his legs have gone. So doesn’t matter if he’s being used for 20 mins or 90.

    There's a big difference in the value of paying 12.5k per week for a player as a back up centre half vs what that 12.5k could potentially get us in someone who is a starter and properly sort out that left hand side (or CM for that matter).

    12.5k a week is peanuts in the championship and without a transfer fee... To put it into context, I'm pretty sure Chuks wasn't miles off of that. An experienced head like coady and a bit of leadership as a rotation option is a good signing in my book

    Luton fans were saying that Bell was over the hill and that Burke would be a Premier League player if it weren't for the injuries.

    Bell is outstanding when fit and I've seen nothing of Burke to suggest he's better than average.

    I actually think Coady is a solid purchase.

    Oh come off it. There were literally loads of comments about Chamber's lack of EXPERIENCE above a league one level
    I second this. It was a circa 50/50 split on concerns around fitness and experience.

    It's fashionable to have a go at Golfie on here simply because it's Golfie, but quite often he actually does talk sense and if some of his posts were said by others they wouldn't get even half the general derision.
    It's not always about what he says, but how he says it. It always comes across as either misery or pointing out the obvious.

    If you spin it with a tone that is less negative and more an opportunity, or at least not a doom and gloom tone it comes across far less irritatingly.

    Did Coady play with Lloyd Jones at Liverpool at U21 level? If so they might be mates and understand each others games.
