Because we signed a player from league one on loan?PWADDICK said:Almost as if all the doom and gloom about Apter leaving was for nothing2 -
He played for Gateshead last week Ronnie so give it a rest .RonnieMoore said:

I looked away for like 10 minutes!6

He’s played over 20 times this year hasn’t he??sammy391 said:Some baffling signings there!
Apter and Tanto out temporarily, whilst bringing in a 23yo GK in Brooks, and a 22yo LWB Jayden Fevrier - who has played 2 or 3 games this season
WTAF3 -
He can play left or right either wing back or out and out winger .. rapid pace and good strength he as excellent signingSELR_addicks said:Signing another right winger

So a league 1 club pushing for promotion lets their wingback go out on loan!? Not sure they rate him that highly. Everything reeks of zero budget and desperation4

But he been with us for us to have a look at himcafc4life said:

Nathan Jones ripping up the plans he built only 6 months ago. My initial thought was that it’s a terrible stain on our recruitment, but the more I think about it, I’m glad Jones has the bottle to twist rather than stick. It’s currently not working, and if we persevere with the same tools then we’re on a hiding to nothing.I wish we could have seen more of Apter, but the system just doesn’t suit him. I like Tanto but he’s a forward that doesn’t score or assist. Hopefully there’s a marquee signing or two on the way.20

Worth bearing in mind for the next few days that neither incoming had a whiff of a rumour about them. If rumours are quiet or underwhelming it isn’t necessarily an issue20

I mean it couldn't be more obvious that Tanto was part of the negotiation to sign Fevrier, it doesn't appear that either club have an option on those players so assuming we're both saving negotiations for the summer, depending on what respective league were both in15

Could he not have been on trial?sam3110 said:

They’d both have to go.charltonbob said:
The problem is, it's not us choosing who we would bring in to replace Jones, I assume it's bullshitter Rodwell who would be "advising" the owners.TheHerminator said:
Who you bringing in to replace him?Bedsaddick said:
I really can’t think of a manager we’ve had in the last 40 years who’s been so afraid of playing positive attacking football.Scoham said:
He doesn’t like their defensive weaknesses.Bedsaddick said:As far as I’m concerned Jones can do one . What does he have against players who have quality and skill . I look forward to a couple of overweight , crocked defenders from Luton coming in .
The issue is he probably takes that too far. Still tries going with two defensive wing backs, but they just puts even more pressure on us when we have a team who treat the ball like a hot potato.Get rid now

It will do Apter the world of good being back close to his GF and family .. I understand he struggled down here very similar to Charlie Kirk and asked a while back if he could leave .. the club want him as they see him being an important player that’s why they agreed ..5

There needs to be a couple of proper quality signings I think or we are bang in trouble nothing about these 2 signings or the other rumour sets my mind thinking we are developing more a case of desperation1

Jones has literally decided to rip the squad up & start againSuch a huge gamble in January7

I stand corrected on the games played!YannTheMann said:
He's played 21 games this season, also he's predominantly a RWB. But by all means get irrationally pissed off about a player you don't knowsammy391 said:Some baffling signings there!

We need championship quality players…….. yay!!! We’ve got Fevrier, why is he going to be more suited than the other two we’ve let go? Has he played in the championship before?5

The alternative was keep trying what clearly wasn’t working.Gravesend_Addick said:Jones has literally decided to rip the squad up & start againSuch a huge gamble in January
I’m not sure there was another choice20 -
Not digging you out here, genuinely curious as to why you’re baffled?sammy391 said:

Come on Charlton, it's been nearly half 'n' hour since the last signing...1

Doesn’t mean he couldn’t have been training us. Not saying he has but it’s plausible.sam3110 said:

In fairness Fevrier is a player I’ve wanted at Charlton for a while, one of the quickest players I’ve ever seen live15

I think this is pretty close to the truth in my opinion.RonnieMoore said:It will do Apter the world of good being back close to his GF and family .. Its clear we are saving our money for raheem sterling, who will slot straight into left wing back.5

Fair question - but a few answers.TheHerminator said:

WTAFBut still, absolutely baffling
- wingers are hardly used by Jones in the system unless they are Wing-Backs
- we’ve let one winger go, but decided to replace him with another random ones
- did we actually have any interest, or have Stockport offered him to us to push the Olaofe signing through?-we’re in a relegation dogfight, I’d hoped we would be bringing in more players of experience/ability
- we’ve signed the lad on a straight loan, so not even looking as if he’d be someone we want permanently
in terms of Brooks:
- we’ve sold a 3rd choice GK and replaced him with an even less experienced GK
- we’ve blocked the pathway of two young GKs where our constant schtick is about ‘giving players the pathway’ etc
- presumably paid a fee for the lad, despite us having the 3rd/4th lowest budget in the league2
