Cinema on your own
Was interested to hear on the news that the film about Donald’s wife has not taken the cinema world by storm. A grand total of one was booked for a showing in Islington and not many people in the States are interested.
It’s a strange feeling being the only one in a cinema audience. It’s happened to me twice.
The first was at a suburban cinema at the Hamptons, New York. The film was “Lost in Translation” and the odd thing was, coming out of the picture, there was no one in the foyer either. A man in the box office called out to me “Did you enjoy the movie sir?”
The other was in Taupo, NZ, and the movie was about Bobby Darin “Beyond the Sea”. I remember going for a pee half way through the afternoon screening and hoping that they would not turn the film off because there was no one in the theatre.

Best way to go to the cinema, I was working funny shifts when I was up at the Olympic site and whilst a lot of the blokes would go and get pissed, which I also often did, I'd go and see a 9.40am film. Must have done it 7 or 8 times and apart from feeling like a bit of a prick first time, I grew to love it. Only twice were there other people in the cinema with me8

Got no issue going on my own, after all it's not like when the film's on you're having a round table discussion on it, it's the same experience whether on your own or not.0

Yes, very much. Thought it was worthy of a larger audience than just me. As a matter of (little) interest the title of my thread was changed giving it a rather unintended meaning. It wa supposed to highlight actually being the only one in the audience rather than did you go without your partner. Not complaining though.EugenesAxe said:well, did you enjoy Lost in Translation?1 -
I had just seen a news piece about Mrs Trumps turkey so had that in mind and was amused to see your thread.0

I will say that Mrs Trumps new film has given me one of the best review lines I think I have ever read:
"If they showed it on a plane, people would still try to leave early."14 -

The OP was talking about going to the cinema and being the only person in there - ie "on your own" - not going to watch a film solo in itself.Baldybonce said:
