    Federer is my GOAT 🥲

    I always felt like Federer was the Messi and Nadal was the Ronaldo of the tennis world - you could see the pure talent that Federer played with and the pure determination that Nadal did. 

    Novak was always the annoying little fly in the corner but his record speaks for itself now. And if I wasn’t already dug in I could admit he’s been better than both.

    Some twenty years ago I bought my eldest a signed and framed photo of Federer and told him that he would become the GOAT and that it might be worth a few bob in 50 years time. Unfortunately, he has been usurped.

    When talking of the greatest of all time surely you have to look back to past champions as well as comparing the current crop.  How about Jaroslav Drobny and Rod Laver for example?

    of course. And the overlap, for example, with Federer and Nadal, Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, Nadal and Djokovic. etc Also the GOAT is not necessarily the same as the most successful statistically

    7 slams as chris rightly points out.
    How many he will end up with i have no idea. 
    Borg for instance won 11 slams and retired at 26 years of age. 
    Novak is still competing at 38.
    If Alcaraz can remain fit and keep the same desire and determination then he could quite possibly top the lot.

    It's impossible to say really. He's obviously in a great position already having 7 at the age of 22, but nobody knows what's going to happen with injuries, form, motivation, new wonderkids arriving on the scene.

    Agreed,Rod played the pro circuit for 4 years before it all joined up.Thats 16 grand slams he would have played in,on his 1 st return to Wimbledon he won.
