He looks to me like he needs experience at this level, lets give him 1 year at least! He is still young.
for me he has the most championship level athleticism of all our centre mids and therefore potential. Some of our midfielders get out run at this level.

If only Karoy, after a moment of intense involvement, could learn to be better with the ball he releases, I dunno take a breath or something he would improve. I think he puts himself off his game because he gets over excited

You can teach/coach a player with good technical and passing skills how to be more physical and intense in a press much easier than you can teach an athletically gifted player how to be a varied passer and technician.

I do think Anderson has got a place in the squad, but it's probably not as a starting player and it's definitely not as a defensive midfielder in the Coventry role.
Is that the right way to look at it though? Anderson has the energy and physicality to be a box to box midfielder in a Nathan Jones Championship side. At the moment he lacks consistency, tactically and technically.

There are no doubt CMs in lower divisions with more technical ability and creativity, but they either lack physically and/or the work rate and aggression to play in the Championship.

Average players can go far with commitment on and off the pitch. Not many skilful players who lacks that commitment play consistently play at the higher levels.

If players have physical or technical limitations they’re unlikely to completely change as a player at say 25. But a committed player can become better tactically with experience and improve their consistency - we’ve seen that ourselves with Lloyd Jones, he’s now a very good and reliable Championship CB. Two years ago he was probably seen as a solid L1 player who some thought might have room to improve.

Ideally we’ll continue improving our squad every window, and then Anderson will either have to keep up the pace to remain as part of the squad, or move on to find regular football.

A loan might even still be an option this season, but I think we’d need to make a CM signing ourselves for him to be allowed to go.

    Or... was that Coady?

Think he showed to NJ in the few run of games he had recently that he is far off champ level
  • Blackpool head coach Ian Evatt on Karoy Anderson: “He is someone we were keen to bring in as we believe he will add a different option to our midfield department and give us more options in that area of the pitch.” #cafc

  • Interestingly scored the second in our 2-1 win at Bolton. The final game of Evatt's tenure there.

If he plays (and learns), i think we get a real proper player back

He’s never played regular first team football, has had a few runs of games but I think starting 15-20 games is exactly what he needs to develop so hopefully he gets that now

Should've gone out two seasons ago. Good luck Karoy

Just what he and we need.
I'd like to see him calm down, instead of playing at 100 miles an hour, whilst wearing a pair of blinkers.
  • Sensible move. Good luck Karoy. Never shirked it.
  • Sensible move all round.

Good luck to the lad.  Cant understand why Jones has been starting him for the last few weeks knowing that he needs a loan to a lower level when we’ve got Doc, Coventry and JRV in the squad.  Weird.

Hope this goes well for him. He gets a raw deal on here, imo. He's still very raw but his physicality, commitment, and drive can't be questioned and he's nowhere near as bad on the ball as gets made out by some and has some ingredients that will see him improve as he matures.

wish him all the best - never been short of commitment, engine or desire that's for sure
  • All our good wishes for the remainder of the season, Karoy.

Go show 'em what you're made of ! x

76 first team appearances over past 2.5 seasons. He's played a lot considering his age. Never shied away from the ball at any time.

We all know where he's lacking. Fortunately, he's young enough to still improve those aspects. Hopefully Blackpool play him a lot and he comes back in summer ready to go for us next season.

Hopefully this turns out to be a good move for him.

The surprising thing for me is he’s been signed by Ian Evatt, a manager who plays a possession style.

Might help though. He’ll need to make less ambitious passes as the players will be closer and showing for the ball more. I know he’s often misplaced basic passes here too but he has a great chance to improve that now. With Leighton Clarkson signing too Anderson won’t be expected to be a creative spark for them

I wish Karoy the very best.
Whatever anybody thinks of him as a young player, nobody could seriously say he didn’t give everything for the shirt.

I think he’s made a really positive contribution. We’ve needed some pace and energy in midfield and when we’re chasing the ball he can break up an attack and put players under pressure. Too often our midfield disappears and teams are gifted a run to the edge of the box. It looks like a decent loan option for the player but if we’re hit with a couple of injuries we may regret this move.

Think it leaves us a little light in midfield though. An injury or 2 and it could be a problem. Good luck to him though

I like Karoy and he has done a decent job for a young player through some difficult times. Hope he benefits from this loan and that we will not miss his mobility and versatility too much.

Because we need mobility and pace in the team and too many of our midfielders and defenders lack those elements.
