What are the away pubs these days?

Hi, I have a mate who is QPR and he was asking for any of the away pubs. I haven't a scooby since they closed the Antigallican.

Does The Angerstein allow Charlton fans in as well or is it purely away? Going up with a couple of QPR fans

Does anyone use the tapas or Chinese on charlton church lane pre-match for drinks only? Perhaps out of desperation?

The tapas was full last I noticed, but the Chinese (opposite the station) is always totally empty when I've looked.

I can't imagine many away fans choosing to drink there. If the "away" pub isn't near the ground, you might as well drink in Greenwich or London Bridge.

The Chinese looks closed to me.

For Chelsea and London clubs it might be different, but if I was coming to London for a day in the smoke, I'd be amazed if many chose to drink there. Even if 100 were there, that's still a small percentage of the away end anyway.

Lot of out of London clubs at our level are much more active with unofficial minibuses / coaches that wouldn’t be touching central London and look for a local drink when here.

It's definitely open after games, as far as i can tell- i.e. lights on and an open sign flashing, lots of tables but no-one in there. I will take another look tomorrow.

Don't want to denigrate its reputation but when I resided in the immediate vicinity it wasn't the Chinese of choice for many. Tapas bar is lovely however.

A group of us booked into the Chinese for a Friday match v Palarse years ago (think it turned out to be Luke Varney’s finest hour). Arrived and ordered two hours before kick off. After about an hour a few starters emerged. By 15 mins before kick off with no sign of any further food we left and legged it to the ground. Never again!

PS just looked it up - 18 years ago almost to the day

Near my house, always rammed for every home game no matter where the teams have travelled from.

Opens early for early games think still owned by millwall supporting family. Used to be able to drink there on the cheap as bar staff were normally half cut, not been in for a while.

The Chinese by Charlton Station? I believe it’s Takeaway only (despite the tables).

Lots of bar staff though, so no hanging about waiting for a beer.

I went in there after a recent game and you can sit in there. It has warmth and décor of a railway station waiting room

For a lot of QPR fans, Liz Line to Woolwich and the Great Harry will probably be the simplest pre-match pint these days.

It is the designated away pub and is packed out every game, with I imagine several hundred, and usually looks like it has a good atmosphere.

It's walking distance to the ground, shows football, right by Westcombe Park for train and en route if you fancy a drink in Greenwich first which a lot of away fans do.

Yes, the Dial Arch gets a mention too on their forum. I'm not signed up there but would suggest the Elephant as a prime option too.

A little walk from the stations but Rose`s in Hare street is an old school pub, so long as you do not have a bird allergy.

There's only the Pilot that way isn't there? Would hope there's better options than anything  in the o2, or on the plaza outside but maybe there isn't.

But it's very convenient transport wise. Frequent Jubilee Line trains to North Greenwich, and direct buses to The Valley.

The Dial, a Meantime place, has just opened outside the O2.
