I haven't looked at any other clubs' forums for a while, but I thought I might do tonight so I sneaked a peek at Stoke forum, The Oatcake. They're not happy bunnies. There seem to be four main themes: 1. They generally thought that Charlton were crap. 2. They are concerned that they couldn't score against us, and take it as a sign that they are currently even worse. 3. They aren't particularly impressed with Mark Robins. 4. They are considerably less impressed with our Nathan.  Here's a selection of quotes:
    • The only bit of joy was Nathan Jones quickly fucking off down the tunnel after Shawcross had a word.
    • I actively despise the cunt, wish him nothing but ill.
    • I want to bury Nathan Jones alive and piss on the compost.
    • He's an absolute oxygen thief and a total piece of shit.
    • Nathan Jones is the most unlikeable bloke in the world. The only silver lining is we aren’t managed by that absolute arsehole.
    • I don't mind Charlton as a club, but I'd love to see that unhinged cunt relegated.
    • It doesn't say much for the bloke's well-publicised Christian beliefs. He's like a vile toddler on showbiz sherbet. An exorcist might help.
    • My life is pretty meaningless and boring. I get up, go to work then have a few hours to myself at night in the week. These guys are making it even fucking worse. Just stop being so shit.
Reading those quotes again this morning, I like to think of it as a 'found poem'. I'm imagining it read out by Dave Gorman, accompanied by a slide show and a string quartet.
That's exactly how I read it!!!

I wondered why our lot were singing that last night. Now I get it, I think.

TBF, I thought they were chanting some crap in mangled Welsh that they’d heard the Wales rugby fans singing and we’ve adapted it as show of respect for Nathan but couldn’t get the tune and pronunciation right. At least I can tell AI to stand down and give up looking for it now…

Nathan Jones is probably in top 3 of my favorite ever charlton managers.
Curbs  and SCP [obvs top 2]
I think he is the first manager I remember being universally hated by all opposition.

No, a player cannot be offside directly from a goal kick. According to IFAB Laws of the Game, a player receiving the ball directly from a goal kick, corner kick, or throw-in is not deemed to be in an offside position, regardless of where they are on the pitch.

I think the obvious problems that Birmingham are having absolutely highlight just how tough The Championship is. They’ve run away with league one and massively strengthened but don’t look anything more than a decent enough mid table side. Perhaps the difference in us and them is expectations. Ours was to just stay up. I think theirs was to be pushing playoffs. Seems theres a mood amongst their fans to get rid of Davies but I think what they actually need is a dose of realism. Finishing mid table after promotion is actually a very decent. A few more players in the summer and they can push on.

"The fact Charlton could have played a limbless geriatric in goal today is the most damning verdict of how we play."

I think that's my favourite post on the thread.

Sacked after Charlton you’re only sacked after Charlton …

4 double shots of Bowmore 15 year old, but pretty sure I'd agree with this tomorrow regardless.
BC didn't look much better than Wrexham, which I guess is their yardstick.
Seeing Arsenal just about make it against league one Mansfield shows that consistency and depth is key.

They spent a fortune last season to "piss L1". They then spent plenty more money this season.

I don't think it unreasonable to expect better than they are delivering, they were awful today. I don't know their players well enough to know whether it's the manager's fault, or poor recruitment.

I have no interest in what is said on other clubs websites other when an opposition fan podcaster is on with Louis Mendez ( Charlton live) before a game when previewing the coming match.

If you think how arrogant CAFC fans were after the 3-0 win at Ipswich and slagging off the tractor boys and where we would finish in the top 6 you can take with a pinch of salt what some fans say when they get too high with a victory and too low after a defeat. (Thanks Curbs for those quotes!)

I did read the examples given by Stig from a Stoke website and this sounds like a typical away fan of a struggling club:

"My life is pretty meaningless and boring. I get up, go to work then have a few hours to myself at night in the week. These guys are making it even fucking worse. Just stop being so shit."

He probably works as a motivational speaker and life coach.🙄

    No such place.

They don't seem to know that "into" is one word over there!

Really enjoyed yesterday (except thatb15 minute period when they lay siege to our box, and the last 5 minutes. We seem to have recovered an identity after the wretched performances around the Pompey debacle. Never say never, but I think we have enough about us tobtrab a couple of wins into mid table obscurity. And that's all I wanted this season so thank you NJ.
