He played for West Ham quite a lot at RWBgolfaddick said:

I’m sure he’s not completely unfit but agree he’s going to be nowhere near match fit. Assuming he can get there in around six weeks it would make him available for the Bristol City (H) game on April 3rd. That’s seven games and 21 points. God forbid we lose Dykes an/or Leaburn in that run in period because Godden, Kelman and Campbell are imho unlikely to do much damage without a big man next to them. It seems to me that Antonio coming in on a short contract is a reasonable gamble and insurance policy. His experience and apparent all round popularity won’t do any harm either.Gravesend_Addick said:This rumour appears to be gathering some momentum.
Seems a strange one if true. By the time he's match fit the season will be over0 -
The sticking point is the £13.85/hour demand backdated for the time he's already spent training8

He's also taken on a couple of shifts in the canteen which he's yet to receive payment forChizz said:The sticking point is the £13.85/hour demand backdated for the time he's already spent training3 -
Might play the 21s game today?0

Rodwell will just have to cut back on the beard grooming products for the rest of the season.Chizz said:The sticking point is the £13.85/hour demand backdated for the time he's already spent training10 -
It's clear that Jones now sees Dykes/Leaburn as the way forward. Two battering rams up front. It was a pairing that worked very well even before Leicester went down to 10, we've not been quite as potent up front with Leaburn being out and Godden/Kelman in his place. Antonio should be more than adequate to fill in that role6

Start laughing Golfie, as he’s a versatile player, he’s played RWB before. Antonio says himself his best position is as a winger. If he signs he will be back up to Clarke and Fevrier as well as a Leaburn/Dykes option.golfaddick said:

Chunes said:Dykes was knackered in the latter stages on Wednesday but we had nobody on the bench who could come and play his role. If there's money in the budget to make sure we're not in that situation again, why not. Also, don't know what we'd do if both Dykes and Leaburn dropped out.
Dykes got his assist in the 81st minute, so pretty late on.
It's unrealistic to expect "cover for the cover", all over the park. After all, the same could be said in midfield. If Coady and Coventry were both injured, we'd have to play Docherty and Rankin-Costello together, with no midfield cover on the bench.0 -
It's clear that versatility is a trait we are looking for in new additions: Clarke, Coady, Fevrier and Antonio can all play multiple positions. Experience is also being targeted, which I love. I know that if I was a youngster and someone with 268 PL appearances and 68 goals joined the team I'd be excited. Thought the same with Coady (who went to a World Cup!), you'd have to imagine they both have some decent stories and give the dressing room a sense that we are improving. From everything I've seen and read he seems to be a great character, too. So this makes sense with those recruitment focusses.
On the pitch, if he's 80% of the player he was a year ago he will be a decent signing at this level. I actually think he could play either role up front. Jones said he was reluctant to let Tanto go, and if Antonio is earmarked to play that role he will surely be an upgrade. He also played up front a lot for West Ham, and his hold up play surely makes him a potential alternative to Dykes and/or Leaburn if one isn't fit. Would be a great option to bring on at 60/70 minutes when a game is stretched and defenders are tired.
I see this as a positive even though I have no idea where his fitness levels are at and what impact he will have! If he comes in and does well we have one foot in the door for negotiations in the Summer, if he doesn't then we can cut ties.3 -
Maybe, but is was the 81st minute when he set up the goalChunes said:Dykes was knackered in the latter stages on Wednesday but we had nobody on the bench who could come and play his role. The biggest question mark over him signing is does he understand the offside rule from goal kicks?34

I don't tend to watch PL but remember him ripping us to shreds about 15yrs ago I guess.
Very direct and fast.
I rate Campbell highly, always have but he could really do with being a little more direct at times imo so even if all Antonio does is let some of that rub off on Campbell it would be worthwhile imo.0 -
Just because he was knackered doesn’t mean he can’t win the ball. The point is that the longer the game went on, he was less affective and we didn’t have any option to replace him for fresh legskafka said:

We've got Dykes and Leaburn target men, Godden and Kelman as the finishers. NJ brought on TC up front anyway in the last game so I am a bit confused here as to where he fits in?1

He fits in on the bench, with TC and Godden, when Dykes starts with Kelman and Leaburn has treatment on his latest injury. (Or when any of the other injury-prone forwards queue up at the medical centre at SL).Danny Addick said:We've got Dykes and Leaburn target men, Godden and Kelman as the finishers. Eight pages of rumours about one guy, must be getting desperate...😉0

Triallist on the bench for the U21's, think we know who that is12

I thought a lot of our players looked knackered at about 70 mins (similar to QPR). Looked to me that we had run out steam and the chance of three points had gone!Chunes said:Dykes was knackered in the latter stages on Wednesday but we had nobody on the bench who could come and play his role. Can't be offside from a goal kick, although im sure some of our players try.DaveMehmet said:The biggest question mark over him signing is does he understand the offside rule from goal kicks?0 -

Mick Harford. Hasn't played in a while so fitness might be an issue but if he can rediscover his Luton form he'll be sensational.fenaddick said:Triallist on the bench for the U21's, think we know who that is4 -
Sonny Carey the wife shagger could teach him all about that?cafcfan said:
I grew up driving rear-wheel drive cars but these days many people are not used to them especially something like a Ferrari with huge torque. They are so easy to lose especially if you don't understand the dynamics. I wouldn't blame him too much. I don't suppose he'd ever heard of SIFO - slow in, fast out.LargeAddick said:
Likely he's an idiot who can't handle a high performance car and drives too fast.Mendonca In Asdas said:I’m genuinely serious, as I’ve been in some serious car / van accidents down the years, why people are trying to get a rise out of him for his car crashes, it’s really not funny, until you’ve been there trust me.2 -
I don't see him playing on the wing or at wing back - i see him come on up top for the last 20 like Chuck's did - play in bursts and cause havoc then get his breath back and do the same again - Stamina is required for wing / wing back - he played up top for west ham using his power and pace and did the havoc bit just over a longer period of the game. If you can get just 20 minutes of that, it will be worth it. At his age, assuming the injuries don't restrict it, he should be just as powerful and pacy but in short bursts - its the recovery time that gets longer.SouthLincsAddick said:

How did Chucks ever pass one then?soapboxsam said:SteveACS said:A note of caution. I used to be ambidexterous until I broke my arm. After that, I'd lost too much mobility to ever be the same. Yes, it was a bad break, requiring surgery, but it doesn't sound as bad as his leg. He may never be anywhere near the same player as he was. He may never be able to pass a medical ever again...
Charlton Athletic medicals are a tad different from many clubs ?
As long as you can touch your toes when sitting down you pass with flying colours 💪🏼3 -
