Introduction
Charlton go into the last of the triple header of home games at the Valley looking to continue their unbeaten run ever since the 4-0 drubbing at the hands of our local rivals. Since that horrific performance / result, we've picked up seven points from a possible nine, and haven't conceded a goal in each of those three games. It will be handy if that form continues up until 10pm tomorrow night.

A late goal from Sheffield United consigned Pompey to a first defeat at Fratton Park since November on Saturday, leaving the South Coast outfit hovering just a point above the drop zone, albeit with an extra game in hand on those below them, even when all is said and done come tomorrow evening. Saturday was a contrasting performance to Portsmouth's last fixture in 2025, where they narrowly edged a 2-1 victory over Charlton back in December, instead against Sheffield United it can be argued that they were hard done by... But that the harsh reflection of Championship Football.
On the road; Portsmouth are a completely different animal to the one that plays at Fratton Park... They've just two victories all season, one coming on the opening day of the season at Oxford, the other coming in mid-January at Hillsborough (both score-lines ending 1-0 to the visitors) - Pompey do know how to grind out results though, they've got five draws away from home, and just seven defeats so whilst they're not as strong at Fratton, they're not going to be a walkover by any means. They do have injuries though, with Midfielder: Andree Dozzell and Striker: Adrian Segečić departing from the fray on Saturday, so could well be doubts for tomorrow night.
In terms of head2head, and Charlton have 39-wins, compared to Portsmouth's 41-wins... the latter wont be able to rely on Yang Min-Hyeok the scorer of the dramatic winner in December, he was recalled by Spurs, and sent on loan to Coventry City, as Portsmouth travel to SE7 looking for their first win since a 3-1 win in 2021, and the first attempt at completing the double over Charlton since 1985/86

The one absence in the last two games has been Miles Leaburn, with the Academy Striker a vital miss these last two games at the Valley, especially when you put into contrast the first half display at the King Power Stadium. Both Charlie Kelman and Matty Godden have been tested alongside Lyndon Dykes in an attacking role, yet neither has managed to get on the score-sheet...
As a result Nathan Jones might opt to select; Tyreece Campbell from the start, given his winning goal over Stoke City.

I reckon Antonio will be a surprise inclusion on the bench, do half time analysis then keep his focus and come on score the winner then talk us through it after the game, he won’t be distracted in the slightest.6

0-2 loss. Done everything wrong this past week since beating Stoke. Some saw Portsmouth lost at home and thought they must have played badly. Some looked up rather than down when Callum posted an imaginary table showing a win. Players went into relaxed mode with time off over the weekend. No redeeming aspects. Lose at Southampton after this and back to reality with a bump.6

It's a difficult one and you have my deepest sympathies. If I were you I wouldn't say anything. Or, even better, have a bet on us at say minus two on the handicap at 11/1 and produce the winning ticket afterwards as evidence.1 -

See this one ending up a draw. Obviously we’re looking for a knock out punch to make relegation highly unlikely, but given our recent wins against Leicester and Stoke a draw wouldn’t be the worst result. Not necessarily a “must win”, but a “please don’t lose”.10

Tough game this - Pompey have 14 players out injured, but they're playing well despite the recent results. That being said, they're struggling for goals. 1-1.3

It might not be quite a must win game but it is most certainly a must not lose one. And the players need to do it for Norm if no one else.
I'd keep an unchanged side & I reckon Leaburn will be on the bench. Can't see too many goals in it. 0-0 or 1-0 to someone.

I'm going for a one nil win, the players should need no reminding of their last minute failure at Fratton park and should go all out to put that right. The last two games against QPR and Stoke have been tight but there have been some very good performances from individuals to gain those four points, the back bone of Jones, Coady and Dykes are key, add to that Chambers, Clarke and Bell given us shape then we look difficult to beat, just need a greater threat around the opponents goal.1

What once seemed a must win, a draw would now be okay given our recent form. With our new watertight starting 11 and Pompey inability to score, 1 Charlton goal is likely to be enough to win.4

Feeling much more nervous about this one than I was about Stoke. Win and we will be looking a lot more comfortable. Don't foresee any changes to the team although if Leaburn is fit I would be happy with up top with Dykes. Should give their defence plenty to think about. UTA.1

I emailed the club as I bought 2 for friends, they resent me tickets to use for this. Positives: they've had less time to recover, they've picked up 2 more injuries, we're looking really solid and seem to have re-found a formula that gets results, we're due some luck after that 90 odd minute disaster Negatives: football don't work like that and will kick you right in the bollox plus i'm going to southampton saturday so a midweek deflater is inevitable. Oh, and hope the fairweathers that went missing against stoke take a look at themselves and get down there to support the team.3

I know we only saw twelve minutes, but I've a feeling that we'd have lost this fixture if it had been played out to the end back in December. I've got a good feeling that we will win tomorrow. It may just be a bit of weird sentimentality, but I can think of no better tribute to Norm.15
