Brilliant for Newcastle to effectively win this tie with 3/4 of it left. Such a benefit that they can rest players for the second leg.

Their 42nd match of the season. Man United have had 14 games less to date.
  • Incredible run of results for Bodo Glimt.

A side that looked dead and buried in the league phase after 6 games (3 draws, 3 defeats). Then beat Man City at home and Atletico Madrid away to sneak into the play off round.

Then last night beat Inter Milan 3-1 in the first leg.

Just won again away at inter.

    Manager nailed on for spurs.

Italy in danger of qualifying for the World Cup, so the Italian clubs have to step up to be the shite ones again for a bit

Bodo play some bloody beautiful football.  They took us apart at home earlier in the campaign, god knows how we came away from there with a 2-2.

Anyway, FWIW, pinch of salt required. according to a couple of the old boys in the 80s team, Ossie says Poch has already verbally agreed to return after the World Cup (on the assumption that Spurs stay up of course!)

EDIT >> 1hr later, see Talksport have posted a reel showing Alan Brazil saying that Spurs HAVEN'T even spoken to Poch yet.  So a lot more salt required!

Crazy game in Turin. Juventus 3-0 up with 10 men after a ridiculous red card, 5-5 on aggregate
  • Atalanta 2-0 down from the first leg v Dortmund, win 4-1 at home to progress.

Juventus 5-2 down from the first leg v Galatasaray, currently lead 3-0. And they went down to 10 men when 1-0 up.

Gala score twice in extra time to send Juventus out.

Atalanta finish lowest of the 3 Italian teams in the playoffs and are the only ones to progress, Napoli didn't even make it that far

Always interesting to watch some of the familiar names playing at smaller Champions League sides, in massive European games.

I hadn't realised that Wout Faes, after 3.5 mediocre seasons at Leicester, including the first half of this season where he was often on the bench - he was a late substitute at The Valley - was now on loan at Monaco, and played against PSG in the knockout playoffs.

Italian football is at a pretty low point right now. Lloyd Kelly couldn't even get a game for Newcastle and he's a regular starter for Juventus.

I disagree - Kelly knows exactly what he is doing and as he comes down he glances at where the opponents leg is and moves his leg unnaturally towards the Galatasaray player. Also in those situations you naturally come down on your toes, not your heel with studs up.

Straight red was the correct decision.

It's strange how cyclical they seem to be in that regard. Juventus and AC Milan in particular seem to have really poor squads right now

Milan have a bunch of PL cast-offs. Estupinan, Loftus-Cheek, Fullkrug, Pulisic, Nkunku.

Some decent players but none that you'd class as really top class and they are 2nd in Serie A.

And he was just as crap as he was at Leicester! 😂

Already having the highest current coefficient, plus the fact wins earn considerably more coefficient points in the Champions League compared to Europa/Conference League. It is now almost guaranteed the top 5 in the Premier League will get a Champions League spot.

    As if it wasn’t already.

Arsenal with the easiest draw in CL history. Leverkusen and then Bodo/Sporting to reach the semi's.

PSG, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Man City and Bayern all in the other half of the draw.

If Arsenal don't make the final this year, they need to ask to play in Europa league next season

Man City potentially could have to beat Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSG to reach the final!

Oh joy, a potential two legged semi-final humiliation to look forward to.
It'll be easier to go out ASAP.

I want Spurs to progress as much as possible in this tournament just to add to their tiredness #spursrelegationparty

I don't think you really have to worry about getting that far.

haha, you'll note I typed 'potential'.
There's more chance of me answering the front door to Liz Hurley and Carol Vorderman than this current Spurs side getting past Atletico.

Are you talking about Arsenal or Glimt (don't know your history against Leverkusen/Sporting)

tbf to your earlier comment it would be very Spursy to beat Atletico then Barcelona/Newcastle, and do sh** in the league, as Thomas Frank found out.
