MATCH THREAD : Charlton Athletic V Wrexham : Saturday 28th February 2026 : KO 15:00
Hi everyone…
Today we have Wrexham visit The Valley in yet another important match, they sit in a top six position with a very healthy 54 points having suffered just one defeat in the last six, and should provide some stiff opposition, but we too are doing "ok" at the moment, also with just one defeat in the last six, I know three of those are draws, but every cloud as they say…
Team news is a bit predictable with Knibbs, Edwards and Godden still out, but the real fly in the ointment is Jones, asked for an update Nathan said: "We will have to assess Lloyd, he rolled his ankle and we won't gamble with him, we have a full quota in defence apart from Josh Edwards so we need to utilise that"…., Wrexham are set to be without Lewis Brunt, Liberato Cacace, Ben Sheaf and Matty Cleworth.
We've met on just 18 previous occasions, winning three, them winning nine and the remaining six encounters resulting in draws. They luckily were 1-0 victors in the reverse fixture in November 2025, when we gifted them with a late penalty after a stupid Onel Hernández handball…🤦♂️
Farai Hallam will be the man in the middle this weekend…
TEAM…Nathan Jones makes five changes to his side for today’s match
Thomas Kaminski misses out with a hamstring injury, while Conor Coady isn’t allowed to play against his parent club. Will Mannion, Reece Burke, Conor Coventry, Luke Berry and Tyreece Campbell come into the side with Luke Chambers, Greg Docherty and Miles Leaburn moving to the substitutes bench.
Kayne Ramsay, captain Lloyd Jones and Burke may start in a back three in front of Mannion.
Harry Clarke and Amari’i Bell may operate as wing-backs, although the versatility of the defenders could mean a different shape is in place.
Coventry and Berry are likely to be joined by Sonny Carey in midfield, behind a front two of Lyndon Dykes and Campbell.
January signing Tiernan Brooks is named in a matchday squad for the first time and is joined on the bench by Collins Sinchenje, Macaulay Gillesphey, Chambers, Docherty, Joe Rankin-Costello, Jayden Fevrier, Leaburn and Charlie Kelman.
Charlton: Mannion; Ramsay, Jones (c), Burke; Clarke, Coventry, Carey, Berry, Bell; Dykes, Campbell
Subs: Brooks, Sichenje, Gillesphey, Chambers, Docherty, Rankin-Costello, Fevrier, Leaburn, Kelman

Bell at Left-Back / Left Wing-Back? - That makes me nervous... I'd have gone with Fevrier2
-
Revising my prediction based on Berry. 4-0 loss11
-
Bell LWB, Berry in midfield, Mannion in goal1

That's a fucked up line up.10
-
Maybe it isn’t Bell at LWB, maybe it’s a back three of Burke, Jones, Bell with Ramsay RWB and Clarke LWB17
-
How dissimilar is that to how we setup at the Racecourse?I mean Carey in Docherty's role, with Knibbs further forward (Berry this time) almost worked in the first half there1

Farai Hallam is today's ref ...
The last time he was in charge of one of our matches was at Portaloo Rood when we trounced Dispwich 3-0.
It's a sign!6 -
The one thing we didn’t need to add to our midfield was Berry ffs7
-
Wrexham: Okonkwo, Cleworth, Hyam (c), Doyle, Kabore, Dobson, O’Brien, Thomason, Rathbone, Broadhead, Moore
Subs: Ward, Scarr, Vyner, Barnett, Longman, Keillor-Dunn, Windass, Cadamarteri, Smith1 -

Berry? Horrible line up.1
-
Berry starting is totally bizarre. Don't like Carey in the deeper midfield role4
-
Fuck me. What exactly have Berry and Burke done to warrant recalls?
That midfield 🤮
Can see the obligatory 3 HT subs as Jones has fucked the line up.
That is genuinely a horrible starting 11. I wouldn’t trust that midfield 3 in league 16 -
He was also a useless twat in the Play-Off Semi game at Wycombe, but then last season I also thought he was one of the best Referees I've ever seen, when he took charge of our game at the Valley against Bristol RoversBriston_Addick said:Farai Hallam is today's ref ...

Fevrier is more attacking & probably doesn't have the defensive side about him.ForeverAddickted said:Bell at Left-Back / Left Wing-Back? - That makes me nervous... I'd have gone with Fevrier2 -
Berry FFS don’t get it. Why not play Costello?6
-
How bizarre0

Was hopeful of a decent result, not now though. Looks as though NJ thinks it's a free hit too. In that case why risk Lloydy?1
-
I hope it’s closer to a 4-1-4-1 with Bell at left back (not wing back) and Clarke and TC on the wings.3

Why so?ForeverAddickted said:Bell at Left-Back / Left Wing-Back? - That makes me nervous... I'd have gone with Fevrier0
