Mbick was stretchered off in the first half of the U's 2-1 win at Rodney Parade and has been taken to hospital.

U's boss Cowley said: “It looks a really, really bad one unfortunately.

“It’s a horrendous tackle and I’m sick and tired of officials.

“He didn’t even give a foul.

“It was so clear – the fourth official was right there and he saw it all.

"It was completely clear that it was excessive force – it was completely out of control.

"The first foot, OK block tackle, the second foot, he's just taken knee high - it's ridiculous.

"It's a horrible tackle from the boy and I'm so angry with him.

"The officials' first job is player safety and I feel so sorry for the kid, because it looks a really, really bad one."

Sounds awful and after 6 weeks out, an assault.

Really hope we're not talking a year out here.

Reminds me in a very bad way of Dave Challinor - Martin Pringle.  Which I have never forgiven Challinor for. MP was on loan at Grimsby, and if I recall right, they were away at Stockport.

Bloke who did it is called Cameron Evans. Pub team right back wearing no 2. Exactly like Challinor, who never even contacted Pringle to express any kind of contrition or empathy. I know it's not entirely rational but Challinor being able to re-invent himself as a "thoughtful" and articulate manager, winds me up.

One difference though is that Challinor at least got a yellow.

    Awful news.
If you’re reading this Micah you will recover and come back better and stronger.
    Very best wishes.

Doubly crushing as that'll end Brighton's interest for now, possibly permanently. When he does come back it'll be with us, but you never know what sort of player comes back from this sort of thing

It might take a while, for sure. But Miles has managed it as we've seen in the last few weeks.

And that is why players want to take the big money move when it is there because no-one knows what is around the corner.

And why we shouldnt be surprised when players do get upset if they dont get that move.

Actually, it might be a bit fraught when Mbick gets back for treatment. I suspect he is going to be even more upset he never got the move to Brighton now.

Some sort of knee jury MRI will determine what damage has been done.

Do they have to come to a majority verdict?  ;)

Best wishes Micah, see you back at Charlton stronger than ever.

Sorry for the error on my previous comment should have been injury not jury.

Not really bothered about his potential suitors. More that the lad has been smashed with a nasty challenge and is now crocked again, shortly after his last injury. Hope the lad is doing well mentally.

I kind of hope it has put his suitors off, he just needs time to recover and not worry about anything else.  Get fit and strong, return to playing and everything else will follow.

Likely to be involved in the main squad in some capacity next season, hopefully is in a good enough position for pre season

Mmm, fear he wont be if he's suffered serious knee damage.

One of those you have to wait and see. Last season Ramsay looked like he had done his ACL was back in 3 months. Similarly with Edwards his ankle injury wasn’t great but he was still moving on it afterwards wouldn’t have predicted him to miss the whole season.

Has it been said what he’d specifically done to his knee

Not that I've seen, just that it was a bad two footed tackle, I'm guessing one above and one below the knee, he got stretchered off and rushed to hospital and it was said to be a bad injury

I hope a speedy recovery for him, so was the bloke who tackled him booked for this at least.

No, interview with Cowley is above, ref didnt give a foul.  Video also above (tackle either side of the leg and the top part of Micah kept on going while the bottom part of his leg was trapped)

He'll be lucky to play this side of Christmas based on that challenge

Just our luck and his, he was going to be like a new signing next season if we could keep hold of him. He must be absolutely gutted. Hopefully he comes back stronger.

    wishing Mbick a speedy recovery.

prepared to be shot down here, but having watched it I don't think it's particularly a bad tackle (nowhere near as bad as Cowley had made out - I was expecting an assault before I watched it), the ball is there to be won and it's a block tackle - I'd be disappointed if my defender didn't try and block it.

Obviously it's hugely unlucky with the result, but I didn't even see that as a foul to be honest

The top was them both before a fair challenge and just look at the rest. If that's not excessive force, I don't know what is.

come on - those 3 pictures tell you absolutely nothing

he's been very very unlucky with the injury, but it's a contact sport

Watching the video of the table it doesn’t look like a shocker, but devastated for the lad to end up with such a terrible injury. Wishing him the best for a speedy recovery as he’s made so much progress this season.
