Raducanu lost 6-1 6-1 to Anisimova - very disappointing
I am beginning to despair with Raducanu. I've held this belief for a long time that she just isn't prepared to listen to anyone as she is so wedded to her own self-belief that she will never make that next step up. The US Open win was fantastic but it is unlikely that everything will align again for her in the same way.

What caused me even more to be of that belief was an interview she made last week:

"I want to come back to my natural way of playing. That takes time to relearn because that’s something that has been coached out of me a little bit.

I have had a lot of people telling me what to do, how to play, and it hasn’t necessarily fit. I don’t necessarily want to have one coach in the role because anyone I bring in is straight away going to be scrutinised – even if it’s a trial.

I might feel the pressure to stick with them, even if it’s not necessarily the right decision. I would love to have a coach that works well, but I don’t think it’s necessarily going to be easy to find one person and they are going to check every box.”

Raducanu has had a dozen coaches already but hasn't been able to form a long-term relationship with any of them. Djokovic has worked, in the main with two coaches in his whole career, Marian Vajda (2006–2017, 2018–2022) and Goran Ivanisevic (2019–2024). If he can trust those two to such an extent then it begs the question as to whether Radacanu's issues are really caused by her coaches or what is actually in her head and the heads of her main advisers including her father.

    Great results for both.

    Round 4:
    Draper [14] v Djokovic [3]
    Norrie [27] v Hijikata [Q]

Hijikata is a break up on Bublik in a deciding set.

    Hijikata wins.

Draper beats Djokovic 4-6 6-4 7-6 to join Norrie in the QF. They would play each other in a SF if they were to both win their QF.

Kartal retired against Rybakina to end Brit interest in the women’s draw but was already down a set and a break.

    Men’s QF line up:

    Fils [30] v Zverev [4]
    Tien [25] v Sinner [2]
    Draper [14] v Medvedev [11]
    Norrie [27] v Alcaraz [1]

Draper beaten by Medvedev 6-1 7-5.

Draper didn’t deserve to win but a very controversial video review call helped Medvedev to break at 5-5 in the second set.
  • Norrie lost in straight sets to Alcaraz.

Norrie is now ahead of Draper in the rankings.
