Can't we just forfeit Wednesday's game, take a 3-0 paper defeat and keep everyone fit and healthy for Saturday?6
-
That could be the game that gets Wednesday off minus points.0

Indeed!, all joking apart you don’t see man to man marking jobs that much these days?bobmunro said:0 -

Jones will get ridiculed if he plays a weakened side to play 'Boro on Wednesday but honestly think it's the smart play. Certainly wouldn't be risking Jones, Clarke, Chambers, Carey3
-
I think we're likely safe now but if we do get pulled back down GD could be crucial. Even if you accept the premise we lose, it's better to lose by 1 or 2 than 3 or 4Pelling1993 said:Jones will get ridiculed if he plays a weakened side to play 'Boro on Wednesday but honestly think it's the smart play. I think it will be 3 or 4 starters and the rest fringe players. I wouldn’t blame him. Saying that Oxford away has always been a bogey trip for us.0

We've just turned around our play a little why the hell you would not play your strongest team against the strongest team left to play is madness. You never know we mind end up with a draw of cheeky 0-1 win. That would put this 'relegation' beyond doubt, which I think already is beyond doubt tbh.
Even 'resting' players doesn't mean we've got massively better chance of a result against oxford, always play your best team. We're notoriously shit after any breaks be it internationals or free cup wknds during the season.4 -

So we're just giving up on the playoffs then?7

If we are resting players on Wednesday, the 2 that I'd be most keen to keep fit and fresh are Jones and Bell.4
-
Does Jones need to survive one more game to avoid a yellow card suspension? If so, I'd rest him.3
-
Just play the best team!!! They were very good at the valley admittedly but we were in a bad run with injuries, we are in a much better place now, I don’t think we will roll over.1

I’m probably going to be very wrong here, especially as Jones mentioned the Wednesday evening away, Saturday morning away fixtures we have this week.
But I think he will want us fighting for every point. I also expect he would have to chain Lloyd Jones to the changing room for him to not to want to play as well.
Maybe Kelman might start. But otherwise I really can’t see much being changed.4 -
I can't see you being wrong tbh. Just not sure what he will do with Lloyd.FishCostaFortune said:I’m probably going to be very wrong here, especially as Jones mentioned the Wednesday evening away, Saturday morning away fixtures we have this week.

No chance I would be playing Jones on Wednesday. Avoid the yellow and have him fresh for Saturday7

We don't have the depth to field a second string team
If you rest Ramsay, Jones, Bell and Chambers, who's playing instead?
You'd end up with a back 5 of
Clarke Mitchell Laqeratebua Gillesphey Fullah
or something equally stupid, given our recent defensive injuries2 -
Leicester and Oxford both got draws at the Riverside in February, so it's not a game we should write off. Boro are a good team, but not one we should fear.
I'd be tempted to beef up the midfield though, and play for the nil nil.4 -

Two games in the relegation battle today. Can see Leicester winning but hopefully Swansea are too good for Pompey
Leicester v Bristol City
Portsmouth v Swansea4 -
If Lloyd plays you know he will either get booked (2 game ban) or injured.
We all know Jones is playing with injuries which is hardly surprising as he goes to war every match.
It's not madness to 'rest' him for this match to make sure he's fitter and available on Saturday for an important game at Oxford before a home match against the Canaries.
Chambers missed so match football from injuries that he is the only other one I would put on the bench as he isn't used to the intensity of Championship football but would definitely have him back for Oxford as he gives us good balance on the left and Harry on the right with our mighty 3 CB's.

Two home games the most likely outcome IMO. Swansea are mid-table mediocrity with an even worse away record than us and having won at home on Saturday can’t see them being particularly up for this one.fenaddick said:Two games in the relegation battle today. Yeah we need Leicester to…not win!0

Can see Leicester and Portsmouth winning tonight.

Expecting 2 home wins tonight. Portsmouth have been playing better the past month, and Swansea although good at home aren't great away. Leicester have shown small improvements under Rowett and Bristol City have mostly been dreadful the past month.2
-
West Brom, Leicester & Oxford drawing is fine for us at this point I think.0
-
Leicester, Pompey and Millwall are all odds against at home tonight so I'm having a tasty treble for some financial consolation should all three win.1

Not sure about us tonight. Could see a draw.kinveachyaddick said:Leicester, Pompey and Millwall are all odds against at home tonight so I'm having a tasty treble for some financial consolation should all three win.0
