@Henry Irving, would the museum need this for its archive or do you already have a copy?
banana for scale.

Yes, we have no bananas but we do have that handbook, thanks
We'll happily take it, the handbook, but we'd sell it to raise funds for the museum0 -

No worries, I'll hold onto it in that case - it's a nice thing to have.0 -
Hi……just a quick question Henry.
Why does the museum close at 1.00pm on Saturday match days?
If people want to drop items off they would need to plan to be with you say 12.30 latest…..that’s a long time to be hanging around until 3.00pm.
I’m sure there’s a reason, just curious what it is?0 -
All the trustees and volunteers need a drink to watch Charlton.SoundAsa£ said:Hi……just a quick question Henry.

The real reason is that the museum is inside the turnstiles so people could enter the stadium by saying they were going to the museum. So we have to close before the turnstiles open.
I'm sure we'd get a lot more visitors if we could open closer to KO but not possible currently
One day we'll have our own street level entrance but until then it is what it is.1 -
Also people can leave stuff in main reception at any time.0

We have to close at 13.00 as that is when the turnstiles open. Visitors could walk straight from the museum into the ground. Not ideal we know. Donations could be left at main reception after 13.00 , as long as it is not a large donation.SoundAsa£ said:Hi……just a quick question Henry.

I love the old handbooks from the 50s and 60s - they make a connection with a completely different era of the club, before I was born, and there were enough of them printed that there's usually one or two on offer on ebay reasonably cheap. During lockdown I bought a few that the museum were selling off and got fascinated by them.SporadicAddick said:

One of these days when I've got Friday off, or am working from home, or am actually organised on a Saturday when we're playing at home I will pop in Henry, and you have my word on that.Henry Irving said:

Original press photo from the 1946 Charlton v Derby FA Cup Final added to the museum's archive. The museum is open Friday 11 to 2.30 and Saturday 11 to 1.00. Free entry in Harvey Gardens

The museum loves donations like this. Most of these "clappers" would have been binned but a #cafc fan at the game grabbed one for us.
In 50 years time the then curators of the museum may wonder what it is but at least they'll know the game it is from.

Does the museum have any railway flyers. I have some from the 50’s and 60’s I’ll let you have them next time I’m down.2

I take it you keep these on the top shelf?Henry Irving said:4 -

This picture is quite extraordinary.
Not only does it confirm that Derby County fielded Albert Steptoe in goal, but it is also the first historic attempt to use what would eventually become known as VAR.
You will note that our boy Arthur has freed the ball from Albert's Woodley's grip. Of course, the Derby keeper is getting his revenge in time-honoured fashion.
Here is what the Photograph-Assisted Referee would have been shown ... about a week after the event once the prints had come back from the chemist.

Foul or no foul?1 -
Journalist & Podcaster @LouisMenddonated this #cafc flag to the museum but he, and we, aren't sure which final it's from. Not the Full Members and not 2025 so must be 1998 or 2019 but which is it?The museum is open tomorrow (Friday) from 11 to 2.301 -
