"CPS says the charge needs to be amended from section 18 wounding with intent to assault occasioning grievous bodily harm."

District Judge James Hatton addresses the two defendants.

He says: "You are both charged with an indictable only offence which needs to be sent to the crown court."

The judge says they will next appear on April 7 at 10am.

The judge approves bail for O’Grady until April 7.

The judge has denied Barton bail and has remanded him into custody until April 7.

Does that mean that the new charge takes away the 'intent' part? ie lesser sentence?

Apparently they are pretty much the same but wounding with intent is harder to prove. Looks like the police have just opted for the one most likely to succeed in court.
