4 points out of 6 this week is a great return even if the way we got them wasn't on many bingo cards. Puts us in a very commanding position regarding survival, which may be for the best as we are starting to look a little leggy going into the last stretch of the season.

I realise that it’s all about getting across that points line first and foremost but at some stage we must start to try and play something that resembles football. I know all about our budget and how hard it is to remain in this division but we have to draw a line under this frankly awful football.

Should be celebrating a 0-1 win .. shocker of a pen for Oxford …as for us wrong starting line up subs were to late and wrong .. Leaburn was good today worked so hard without any support unfortunately Carey and Campbell were very poor , how does Campbell start and then stays on that a question for the press conference … I was surprised how bad Oxford where considering there run of form .. but we take a point thanks to Kelman who should start every game ….

There will be a lot of comments about the performance but save for one piece of absolutely criminal refereeing that's the 0-0 we clearly set out to get. We took no risks today and only committed players forward for long throws and corners. It wasn't a fun watch but we needed to come away from here having not lost because as fun as that Boro result was stopping Oxford gaining points on us was more important. I can't stress enough how bad that penalty award was. You can say Ramsay didn't need to make a challenge but they're both running together and Ramsay has eased him off balance as he does every game outside the box and it's never a foul. The ref has absolutely panicked and guessed there and it's nearly taken the game away from us. We're grateful for an absolutely mad bit of defending to level it out. It was definitely a pen, though I wonder if that ref gives it if he hadn't already awarded one against us.

Other than that though there's not too much to say. Bell was a bit dodgy for once, Clarke had a good first half, Doc good again and Carey absolutely terrible. I feel like we should have taken him off for JRC when we brought Kelman on. Fullah and Fevrier both looked lively when they came on and offered more than Campbell did today. Leaburn fought well and some of the ways he moved the ball out from his feet were excellent. It was a huge relief knowing Kelman was on the pitch when we won the pen and that's 6 goals this season for him now, 1 away from the most I realistically expected him to get coming into this team. We're now most likely a win and a draw away from safety and still have to play Sheff Weds (which we will somehow mess up). It's a good week.

A game too much for us after a brutal week, so delighted with the draw which keeps Oxford 9 points behind us, a gap which they won't close. The weird thing is that I suspect NJ rested players on Wednesday to save them for today, but then we took the lead and winning against Boro then became the priority.

NJ probably could have used the bench earlier, as the midfield did run out of legs, Docherty having done amazing amounts of work in both away games. We looked really tired out there in the second half, but Fullah's cameo did give us a boost.

To show how good the last 4 days have been, Boro would have looked at 2 home games, Charlton followed by Bristol City, and expected 6 points. Instead they got 1.

So important that they didn’t close the gap on us.
9 points behind with 8 to go.
I have to say they play like they are league 1 ready.

Terrible anti football. But Jones has a knack of picking up points when we have played poorly.

Not known such a cloggy side since Millwall
  • Survival is ALL that matters this season.  Glad we're putting in shit performances and still getting points as it's a clear message to Jones, management and owners that we really need to invest this summer to be competitive in this league next season and establish ourselves up here.

If we were making easy work of games they'd be a risk we think we'll blag it again with a league one squad but that can't and hopefully won't happen.  Fought hard to get here and so hard to hopefully stay here so hopefully that's recognise and the required investment and squad bolstering happens.

A great point and superb points tally from last 3 games.

Hopefully a few results will go our way in the 3pms.

On to Norwich next week and really look to win that after a full week's rest.

    Positives.......

    7 points in 3 games
    Virtually safe
    Oxford didn't win

    Negatives........

Its not football as I know it
Can't wait for the season to end
Need another overhaul in the summer as frankly most of the players from last season are nowhere near good enough.

  • Well that was an absolutely horrendous watch, but ultimately it caps off a ridiculously productive week. Take the point and run - add it to the other six we picked up this week and we're laughing.

Desperately need some quality through the middle for next season to control games and break down stubborn opposition.

    Poor game satisfactory result.

Reminded me of a Sunday league game lots of huff and puff zero quality both from the players and ref.

Doc had a good game, TC was awful, again.

That was a pretty dire watch. Absolutely no creativity from us. Oxford were very poor but we weren’t much better. The 1st half they were there for the taking but we had no punch up front. Campbell was awful. Leaburn not much better. And no real creativity in midfield. So we huffed and puffed, and then Oxford got their penalty and scored!

Oxford didn’t deserve to win that so I’m glad we equalised with the penalty but that was a tough watch against a very poor side. Nathan Jones you dodged a bullet there. I hope in the summer window you start thinking a bit more creatively.

Think they were hard earned points, from two difficult away games, understandable they looked a little leggy really...

Big point. Means we probably don’t even need to win another game this season. Few draws will do it.

Can’t believe they have a fighting chance of staying up ….. but will take a Championship with them and Lincoln in next season if it means we lose 2 more established teams
    This.

So much negative exaggeration in here among the fanatics. It was a decent performance. We bossed it and were comfortable mostly.
Enjoyed it almost as much as Middlesbrough as this was stress-free, and we (emphatically deservedly) did not lose.
  • Technically means we’ve only lost 2 in our last 10 as well, since Millwall away as well:
    - Pompey at home
    - Wrexham at home

    Unbeaten in 5 away games

I’m gonna put that performance down to fatigue. Two tough away trips in the space of 3 days. 7/9 points taken this week. I’ll take that and move on to the next match. Forget the performance. On this occasion, it’s the result that matters.
    Oxford a "tough away" trip.

    Do me a favour.

I said do not lose in the match preview and they did that , also pointed out we struggle against teams that play the same game tactics as our selves and we did. Give this squad the majority possession and they look awful as they have no creativity.
    This.

There's a reason we get wins against Boro and Ipswich and get this against Oxford. We're just so uncomfortable with the ball, especially in the final third. We really lack the movement and technical ability and bravery to play in tight spaces.

BUT I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT TODAY BECAUSE WE DID NOT LOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The above is a problem for next season that needs solving in the midfield and at fullback. For today, we were good defensively, we gave away a soft, soft pen, and then we got a well deserved pen.

Today was a must not lose and we did just that. We're 9 above Oxford and Blackburn, 10 above Lecister (latter two have games in hand) and I think we're going to be safe.

I started singing we are staying up at full time. It's hasn't been pretty. I said it would collectively be bad for all of our hearts and I was right, but this team and Nathan Jones have dug deep and pulled out some performances and results. Well done them. Now we need to make it mathematical.

Also, we're level on points with Stoke. Who would have thought that when we got done 3-0 at their place?

dont want them to go down, as they will be one of the three for favourites next season.

Thought Leaburn did pretty well to be fair. Won a lot including some knock downs in the box. Won some fouls to take pressure off. Good feet to cause them problems a few times. Ran hard

Same performance as always just different expectations - we struggle against teams who do what we do - well done the team and fans - nearly safe 👍

Especially when he was expecting to be on the bench
