MoM for me was Mannion. Both getting his hand to the one decent open play shot, but just the way he commanded his area was a shining light in a poor performance.
I get the support for Doc today, but couldn't give MoM to anyone in that midfield today, when we created nothing. Would've said those late subs should've happened 15 minutes earlier, but we got a result so, in Jones we trust.1 -
Ref was terrible
TC was terrible
Doc was excellent.8 -
No idea how we got a point there the only way I thought we would score was to resort to what they did and it was amazing especially as we was getting wanky signs from 10 year old Oxford fans 🤣3

That’s the one I’m referencing. It only happened because we had switched to a back four 30 seconds earlier and hadn’t got settled yet.Chunes said:
Oxford had a one-on-one that Jones cleared off the line.Callumcafc said:Both teams created absolutely nothing. Play that game 100 times with a different ref and I reckon you get 0-0 in 60 or 70 of them. On balance of play, a point was a fair result. The only chances of note were the two penalties.
The only other time their bloke got through our defence was 30 seconds after we had changed formation because we had to chase a game we shouldn’t have been behind in in the first place. If the game was still 0-0 as it should’ve been, we would be in a back five and that space wouldn’t have opened up for the striker.
As soon as we settled back in, they went back to having nothing going forward, same as us.6 -
Yeah. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh on Leaburn. But, that was a dire watch. Not his fault though.PeaksAndValleys said:
Thought Leaburn did pretty well to be fair. Won a lot including some knock downs in the box. Won some fouls to take pressure off. Good feet to cause them problems a few times. Ran hardRob said:That was a pretty dire watch. Absolutely no creativity from us. Oxford were very poor but we weren’t much better. The 1st half they were there for the taking but we had no punch up front. Campbell was awful. Leaburn not much better. And no real creativity in midfield. So we huffed and puffed, and then Oxford got their penalty and scored!Oxford didn’t deserve to win that so I’m glad we equalised with the penalty but that was a tough watch against a very poor side. Nathan Jones you dodged a bullet there. I hope in the summer window you start thinking a bit more creatively.0 -
We didn't get away with anything.sam3110 said:Got away with one
We were shit, they were shit and neither team deserved to win.13 -

I nipped to the pub at half time to watch the second half. When I saw that my heart was in my mouth, Lloyd "The Iceman" Jones.Callumcafc said:

I'd have taken 4pts out of the last 3 fixtures and we have 7.
Even though today is a little worrying, we are clearly knackered, and players like TC (who will always have my support) playing poorly, we didn't lose. That is paramount.
Two wins in our last few games would be great please, however we get them...9 -

Missed Dykes up front. Poor spectacle, but a good result in the scheme of things. Their pen was soft.8

You do give the impression that you've no understanding of the demands on a professional playerNorthStandMillz said:The Highlight of the game was the guy watching from the tree in the car park. Docherty and Clarke played well and that’s the final straw with Campbell as far as I’m concerned. When/if we confirm safety, I'd hope to see a lot more of Fullah this season. Get some more experience and confidence in to the lad before next season.cantersaddick said:Fullah impressed me with his desire to just get early balls into the box. Could do with a bit more of that6 -
Exactly. Things need to change and we need a busy and probably expensive summer. At least six starters in.msomerton said:
not with this squad .ShootersHillGuru said:I realise that it’s all about getting across that points line first and foremost but at some stage we must start to try and play something that resembles football. I know all about our budget and how hard it is to remain in this division but we have to draw a line under this frankly awful football.5 -
Become more clinical next year. Be that through new players or a change in formation and we will be a potent team. We struggle to get at games, especially when we are behind or in game where we can take the initiative. This needs to change0

If that’s your vision of decent then just wait till we start to actually look like a footballing team. You’ll think you’ve moved to Barcelonaswords_alive said:So much negative exaggeration in here among the fanatics. It was a decent performance. We bossed it and were comfortable mostly.
Enjoyed it almost as much as Middlesbrough as this was stress-free, and we (emphatically deservedly) did not lose.2 -
Don’t understand why JRC didn’t come on sooner…a midfielder who passes forward ! What has he done to NJ to deserve this treatment5

No video of NJ post match today, just some typed up quotes

My first away game this season. Lack of quality from both sides but I had Oxford down as the worst side I've seen at the Valley and I see no reason to change that assumption, they were bloody awful. That said, we had loads of possession and created bugger all, Campbell looking disinterested and our passing certainly wasnt crisp. They went ahead in the 15 mins that Oxford actually threatened, we didnt see anything more of them after Lloyd Jones cleared off the line. I would have been happy with a point before the game and am satisfied with the point if not the performance.2

Not a bad habit to be in, turning away defeats into draws.
Three recent 1-1s at Oxford, West Brom and Southampton when a goal down in each, and a point looking unlikely well into the second halves of those games.13 -

Hopefully nobody is ever in a position where they need to tell the Grandkids about that one.
In the context of the week it’s a decent point. We’ve been a bit unlucky in that we’ve two had easier away fixtures (WBA and today) preceded closely by two games where we’ve done a lot of work without the ball (Southampton and Boro).
Two teams who are 23rd and 24th (unverified, but heard on comms) in the league for possession statistics and it showed. A game lacking any real quality. We aren’t yet able to break teams down when we have a lot of the ball and Oxford don’t commit enough forward for us to catch them out on the counter or after they turn the ball over.Don’t forget we are two weeks out from a good performance v Wrexham where we got 0 points. If you can’t win don’t lose. And their penalty was one of the worst refereeing decisions I have seen in a very long time.5 -
The ref was on a mercy mission to the paying public who had to endure a game in which neither team were able to fashion a goal unaided. It was as if he gave both a single chance to relieve the tedium.

I know the last minute sucker punch at Pompey might have felt like losing twice , but it was only the once.Garrymanilow said:I'm just so glad to have that Oxford match done and off the slate now. We've been a bit questionable against our relegation rivals this side of Christmas and it was probably our best opportunity to get pulled back into it today. Since Christmas we've lost twice to Portsmouth, threw away the win against Blackburn, lost to Portsmouth again, drew with West Brom and mercifully beat Leicester, though going into that I don't think they felt they were a relegation threatened side. No six-pointers left for us now, no more must not lose games, just regular matches and then Sheff Weds. Two more points by the time we play them and we'll already be on 50 points so today has to be viewed as a total success. This is the calmest I've felt about it all since before the Southampton home game (though we're still not safe until were safe)6 -
Shite game. Decent result. Move on.3

I think I’ve still got the women losing their unbeaten record to Portsmouth the other day on my mind!aliwibble said:

Terrible game. One point closer. Doc was great, Campbell was god awful. JRC and Fev put themselves about and we needed that players to be brave and want to make an impact.
Onto the next game 👍3 -

Docherty played near enough a full 90 midweek and didn’t stop running again today in the middle of the park. With Campbell I feel it’s more of a mentality/ attitude issue not a physicality one. Hey ho9 -
Poor game, great point
5 home and 3 away games left including Sheff Weds so pretty confident we are safe now as we will nab some points here and there.Looking forward to the summer recruitment now.4 -
Carey's delivery into the box was of the standard that Bree got absolute pelters for. Best dead ball delivery from the left today was by Chambers so not sure why Carey is first choice. Same reason he was taking all the long throws, even though Clarke has a much better technique, I presume !2

I see Bristol City equalised in the 96th minute. I couldn't help but to have a peek at the Borough fan site.killerandflash said:A game too much for us after a brutal week, so delighted with the draw which keeps Oxford 9 points behind us, a gap which they won't close. The weird thing is that I suspect NJ rested players on Wednesday to save them for today, but then we took the lead and winning against Boro then became the priority.
NJ probably could have used the bench earlier, as the midfield did run out of legs, Docherty having done amazing amounts of work in both away games. We looked really tired out there in the second half, but Fullah's cameo did give us a boost.
To show how good the last 4 days have been, Boro would have looked at 2 home games, Charlton followed by Bristol City, and expected 6 points. Instead they got 1.
With ten minutes to go and Borough leading 1 0 one fan was keen for them to see it out ...
... turns out he was wrong
