Karin was booked for a high foot, fact that Jess had come out and had a high foot too, both entitled to go for the ball.

Sophie was really upset last night after the game, clear and obvious foul on her for the first goal.

Karen wasn’t happy with the officials, constant foul throws not being picked up. The fact that Jess was booked for the ball being on the line was crazy!

Saying that we weren’t at the races last night, glad the loss has happened before we go to Selhurst.

Hopefully the anger will be channelled on Sunday…..

Newcastle only drawing with Sheffield United this evening. Due to their games in hand they could have gone up to third. Now that switches to Palace and means the amount of points we now need for promotion drops to 9.

We've got no games left to play against the 4 teams fighting to avoid the relegation slot. If they were to start picking up points that would be very welcome.

Slightly off topic but off to New Douglas Park to see Celtic Women v Hibernian Women.

There was a man putting up a SACK THE BOARD sign. I asked why and he said because of the lack of interest in the women’s team. They are by far the richest club in Scotland but the women’s team has something like the fifth or sixth biggest budget. This ground is a half-hour train ride out of town and is pretty run down or probably never built up in the first place, and I’m not sure how often I come here if I was a Celtic supporter.

She went off with a knock midweek so might not be up to a full match

To be fair she did nothing else other than get booked and give the ball away and anyone could have nodded that in. 2 league goals for our big summer signing

To be honest I wouldn't mind the goal return if she was any good at holding the ball up but she doesn't help us move up the pitch, Kenney does that far better. Thestrup works very hard and I don't dislike her at all but she has been very disappointing so far

    Damn Birmingham now winning.
    Palace still winning.

We have just got to keep going.

It would be nice if Birmingham and Palace end up drawing.

They were very lucky today to get that win. Looked worse after they went down to ten players. Since the winter break they have not played at all well.
How that from the Sunderland play bounced back of the upright was amazing I wrssure it hittheinsideof it. A 1-1 draw would have reflected the game better.
Lets hope luck stays with them.

That was the same old story as we've seen so many times this season: it wasn't pretty, but we got the job done.

Our goal won't win any Goal of the Season awards, though it was a very good ball whipped in by Katie Bradley: Elisha N'Dow got the flick on at the near post and Amalie Thestrup finished acrobatically inside the 6-yard box. Aside from that we struggled to create chances (for the umpteenth time) and had a stroke of luck when a Sunderland header came off the foot of the post. They also saw a free kick from inside the D go narrowly over the bar, and another curling effort inside the box landed of the roof of the net. Even when they went down to 10, they kept up the pressure, and the final whistle came as a huge relief.

In terms of individual performances, Thestrup got the goal but didn't offer much else (though Gillian Kenney and Emma Bissell didn't do any better), Mary McAteer battled hard and showed flashes of quality without it ever leading to much, and Lucy Fitzgerald had an off day. More positively, I thought Gloria Siber had a great game at right-back, showing real diligence and skill throughout, and Karin Muya successfully got us up the pitch to relieve the pressure when she came on – she did really well at one point to reach a through ball before it crossed the byline and pull it back, only for no one to have anticipated it, allowing Sunderland to clear.

We needed to bounce back after Wednesday, and we did. As we've seen with the men, by this stage of the season all that matters is that you get the points, rather than how you get them. We've ground out results all season, and we'll need to do that a few more times before we can celebrate promotion

We only have games left against teams in the top half.

2nd (Birmingham City) and 4th (Bristol City) are at home.

3rd (Crystal Palace) and 6th (Southampton) are away.

Difficult, all do not lose games.
