Hospitality
A pal of mine is an oxford fan .Two years ago we paid for hospitality for the oxford charlton game in league one. £75 per head nice meal good seats.
This year we were charged£192 for a breakfast and same seats .
The hospitality "suite " was a dark dingy room with no natural light.
A bigger ripoff I cannot imagine.Anyone else experienced poor quality\value for money hospitality?

I was in the Corporate seats in the Olympic stadium in Barcelona for Andorra v England 2007. One of Mclarens last games I think and we won 3-0 after being 0-0 at half time.
The seats were dreadful, it rained like crazy and wasn't well covered so those cheap plastic ponchos were handed out, and at half time we went downstairs to get our alcohol free larger (only choice) and defrosted nibbles (yuck!).
When we came back up, the regular England fans had hoped over the small walls and taken half the Corporate seats.
My client asked one to move against my advice and was told firmly to fuck off 🤣.
Thankfully I worked for one of England's Sponsors at the time so it didn't come out of my pocket.

I think it was JJ was in charge, last game of the season.
The food was absolute garbage, never again!
Mind you found a cracking place to stay in. Ipswich, right near a load of boats, about 10 mins walk from the ground.0 -
I think it was called The Salthouse?
Had a pizza place nearby from what I remembered, which was lovely.

I’ve tried out all levels of hospitality at Charlton, nothing compares to the food that the players get at the training ground imo.timken said:A pal of mine is an oxford fan .Two years ago we paid for hospitality for the oxford charlton game in league one. £75 per head nice meal good seats.

even the food at the vice presidents lounge is up and down.
I understand GG are getting the heave go at the end of the season, I can’t wait to see the improvements in that area.
Every Charlton fan remembers that defeat v Crawley at home last season.
That was dubbed curry gate by us, as I brought my best mate along, who ended up with cold curry that made him throw up when he got home.
So the food thankfully has improved, but nowhere near worth the money charged.
Ive done Chelsea’s hospitality as I’ve got a mate who does, and that was lovely.
The best of the best but only done it once, from a new supplier thst wanted to wow us, and get our business, was at Arsenal, that was next level stuff.0 -
Arsenal made Charlton look like a burger van.
Top level catering at Charlton is the same price at Chelsea???0 -

Stoke is very good, Anfield is exceptional. On your last point, my youngest has been to a few CL games at the Emirates and raves about the food.1 -
We have meal deals at the Sainsbury’s opposite the station, the Valley Cafe, the chip shop in the Village, that nice little cafe in Charlton Park, and a Greggs near to Asda…probably other decent places too…even that poxy Gail’s opposite Blackheath station, plus a range of other choices in Blackheath Village
Every single one of those options is, in my opinion, far better than so called ‘hospitality’ at Charlton.
The late Terry Wogan used to joke that the guests on his chat show waited in ‘hostility’, that is the term I would use for each of my (limited) experiences of hospitality from my club.

Done varying levels of corporate at Twickenham, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Etihad, Cheltenham (horses, not the football).
Etihad exceptional, Stamford Bridge and Twickenham Great, Old Trafford average, Cheltenham too much Guinness to notice.
I also had corporate at Selhurst Park c 1988. Box at the back of the main stand, scampi and chips in a basket. As shit as the whole set up.0 -
If we’re going to do “hospitality” we should do it properly. If you want to charge best part of £100 a head then make sure people have a good experience and the food is of a standard commensurate with the price. Take some pride in what we do.5

Please don’t take it personally but if you’re paying £200 for a lunchtime Oxford v Charlton game with a bit of brekkie thrown in then I’ve not got much sympathy for you!11

The food was crap at the beginning of the season but since a few games in it has been brilliant , nowhere near worth the £170 or whatever it is they charge for an individual match but I have a good roast for the Saturday 3pm's and I'm a fussy cnut .
But having gone to a Toby Carvery for the first time in years a few weeks back it puts our cost in perspective , it's a rip off !! and we have to be bored to death with Charlton as well

Agree on Arsenal, my brother won a pair of hospitality tickets for Arsène Wenger's last home game (5-0 win against Burnley in May 2018), and it was excellent. Great food, drinks, seats, view, etc. But I think it must have been extra enjoyable because we didn't have to pay 🙂Mendonca In Asdas said:

Southampton are apparently being sued by G and G for breach of contract
Saints are fighting a £3.2million legal case lodged by a catering company that claims the club has not paid cash owed after terminating its contract early.

I've done hospitality at AFC Wimbledon a couple of times, the first being the friendly against Charlton the pre-season before last. That was good value, a special price for friendlies no doubt. Food was served at the table, none of this self-service malarkey, a certain Carl Leaburn was guest of honour and I had Cherlie Methven and other CAFC directors on the next table (though they seemed to "disappear" when the game started, no doubt enjoying more hospitality in one of their boxes).1

For us it’s doing something we love every other week.
We've worked 80 years between us, some people spend their money on fags, booze , houses and women.
I lived on a really rough council estate, my wife has no childhood memories.
As her parents were so poor they lived in a caravan, and a packing shed.
Maybe we should go back to that and give all our money to the NHS, to pay for people clogging up beds, by living unhealthy life styles?0 -
I've been in my BIL's corporate box at Wembley a few times, which is great, plus the number 9 lounge for an England game. Not sure how much it was as got taken there by a supplier but I got pissed ended up paying nearly £700 for a signed Taylor Swift picture/display for my daughter in a charity auction so turned out to be an expensive night.
Done Southampton a few times, again through my BIL and that was really good as well.
A few of us also did the Valley Gold day at Selhurst, around 1990 against Ipswich. Can't remember too much about it but seem to think there was a ropey buffet involved. Had a good day though and as we left @Tavern set the fire alarm off and they had to evacuate the stand.

People spend more on cruises, than we spend.
Do I care absolutely not.
There’s been so much garbage served up, on and off the pitch, you’re bloody lucky I’ve been subsidizing you, and still supporting this club, I don’t have to justify myself to any one here!
Apologies, I’ve only been to only 87 away grounds, some of the grounds I’ve been to, are not in the league any more.
It doesn’t make me any more of a fan, but cut the socialistic ideology, and stop getting political.1 -
Charlton, Charging the same prices as Chelsea for hospitality, makes no sense to me whatsoever?0
