be hilarious if Spurs do get relegated, can't imagine any of their players having relegation clauses in their contracts.Athletico Charlton said:LargeAddick said:valleynick66 said:If only we didn’t pay almost all players (in the top divisions) to retire as multi millionaires then the finances might be in better shape.

They all do. 50% pay cuts is what is being advertised.
I stand corrected.0 -
In defence of Charlie (for once), I'm not sure he's saying that he thinks that is what SHOULD happen, only that he thinks that is why the people who made the decision chose as they did. It's not necessarily what he himself would advocate for.Ducktapeshoerepairs said:
So that idiot Methven is saying the ‘punishment’ should be set at a rate that won’t ‘punish’ them that much - patheticCrispywood said:
No he didn’t say they should have immunity, but that’s his take on why Leceister were only deducted 6 points opposed to 9-12 like they should have done. Most clubs relegation is a kick in the teeth for Leicester to go to L1 it’s the equivalent of taking a hammer to the face. Financially if they avoid relegation they can manage to dig themselves out the hole albeit be tough if they get relegated Methven described it as being emergency red flags. So is he saying they should have some kind of immunity? that's ridiculous and would make a mockery of the fundamental principles of a league based systemCrispywood said:
Methven was explaining that’s the problem with Leicester because a relegation to L1 means the operating costs to run the club eg their 100M training complex, exceeds the value of the club no potential investor would even look at buying it because of how bad an investment it would be and the money it would take just to get it back to square onekillerandflash said:
And they've been happy to stick the boot into Sheffield Wednesday, a club in way more trouble.sam3110 said:
Sorry but a club "going under" shouldn't come into it, if they've put themselves in that situation by overspending then that's on them.Crispywood said:Methven did an interesting podcast on the whole situation. Apparently it should have been 9-12 points deduction but relegation could be a catalyst for Leceister going under permanently which is why they had to find a line between not letting them off but not giving them too harsh a punishment to give them a chance of staying up
If I have a burger joint and I've massively overspent on Michelin star level chefs and world class Maître D's but we're failing as an establishment, you don't get bailed out, you get into debt and get shut down.
Football needs a big name to go to the wall to open up their eyes, sadly I don't think it'll be enough to change the landscape though
If Leicester went into administration, someone would buy them, they're still an attractive club.
Maybe they could look at selling their 100m training complex to balance the books a bit.6 -

That is a very fair point.

We all know Charlie-boy has some neck, but this is peak giraffe. If only the EFL had a recent example of what happens to a club that descends straight from the PL to L1 in successive seasons…oh but wait, they do. Sunderland. They even found two blokes ready to buy them as they plummeted into L1. And where are Sunderland now? Oh… Funny, I seem to recall that one of those two blokes argued that they bohnced back due to his genius in dealing with all the losses and making the club an attractive business proposition that attracted the Dreyfus family. I think this bloke was basically arguing that there should be a statue of him erected outside the SoL. If only I could remember his name, the man is obviously a football genius, and ideal to take over at Leicester in L1 next season.Crispywood said:

Getting rather critical this is finalised.1

Thankfully at a point where this shouldn’t really impact us0

I wonder if we'll get a verdict at some point during the international break.
Only 7 games remain after that with 2 of them coming immediately after the return over the Easter weekend. So at that point there's then only 5 games left which is surely leaving it a bit late3 -
I think the capitulation at home to a poor QPR side is the death knell any way. Can't see them getting themselves out of it as others are picking up results.5

International break is the perfect time to sort this all out once and for all even if I don't think they're actually going to manage to save themselves. Watford , Preston and Sheffield Wednesday are pretty kind games to have as a next 3 but I just don't think this is a squad that even under Rowett will roll their sleeves up and stay up
If they need anything final day at Blackburn I would be surprised if they got it.1 -
Their 2 games over easter are Preston home and Sheff Weds away. Considering they need at least 4 wins from 8 i'd say those 2 games are absolute must wins.Croydon said:I think the capitulation at home to a poor QPR side is the death knell any way. They could easily win those and then suddenly someone else is back in trouble again. The reality is that the situation down there is probably going to change week by week.

Do we know if the appeal hearing has actually taken place yet ? There must be somewhere that has details on when its being heard.
Obviously the result of the appeal may take some time after, but just knowing that a panel has heard it would be nice !0 -
Please don't tell me you're looking for "transparency" in a major decision like this?golfaddick said:Do we know if the appeal hearing has actually taken place yet ? There must be somewhere that has details on when its being heard.

Blimey, you should know better by now.4 -
Haven't the Premier league also appealed the decision? Or have they withdrawn that appeal?0

Waiting to see who is most likely to finish 4th bottom i suspect, then take a view based on whether they are likely to cause a new problem for their lordships.2

Hardly. City's has been ongoing for years, Leicester only appealed against their decision last month.Miserableoldgit said:All gone very quiet.......Man City Revisited?0 -
You'd like to think it will be resolved over the international break.2
