in a world where airways are now filled with the likes of Savage, Ohara, Cundy etc, Danny Kelly remains one of my favourite broadcasters.

Announced today he’s stepping away from the mike to try and deal with cancer. Quite a powerful listen here. Wish him nothing but the very best of luck

    Oh wow.

    Wish him well.

    My favourite presenter on radio.

I used to know his brother when we worked at NatWest back in the day.

I’m not keen on Talksport but he’s very good presenting Trans Europe Express. Wish him a speedy recovery.
  • Oh that's a f****r.

Love listening to Trans Euro Express on a Sunday night.

Wish him a speedy, full recovery.

Oh that’s so sad - wishing him all the best.

I met him years’ ago via a friend of my husband (then my boyfriend) who supported Spurs. We all went to the FA Cup semi-final together. They were following exactly the same ritual as the year before when Spurs won - right down to what they had for breakfast, the same clothes, the same tube journey to Wembley. But of course I was a new addition. Spurs lost. So Danny forever dubbed me as the albatross.

I've got a lot of time for Danny Kelly. My two big memories are of him shouting 'Any more pies' and the fact that he always spoke well of Charlton. Good luck, Danny, hope you win this battle.

Very sad. He always comes across as a good bloke.

Great words from him. Best of luck Danny 🙏
  • Used to enjoy listening to My Sporting Life, excellent presenter who always came across as a genuine bloke.

    All the best Danny.

The two Dannys Baker and Kelly were always my favourite Football radio presenters, I remember crying with laughter when I heard the stories of the fan who opened up a unattended turnstile at an Christmas away game and was letting people in for a mince pie, and the feller who used to go to matches with a huge wooden cardboard bow tie.

Wish him all the best with his treatment.

Sad news. I used to work with Danny about 40 years ago (!), and he is a lovely amiable chap. We had lots of footie chats and I would like to think his opinion on Charlton is a little bit down to me.

    Get well soon mate.

So bloody sad hearing Danny yesterday.

Danny is by far my most favourite 'Proper Spurs' broadcaster.  He is one of us when you hear him talk so passionately against ENIC and the board (and some of the players!)

Have listened to the Athletic's 'a view from the lane' podcast for bloody years which he has presented from the outset so brilliantly.  Thought it was strange he was absent last week and now it makes sense.

Wish him nothing but the best for his treatment.

And my god, Talksport is so much better when he is on.

And this clip of Danny sums him up as proper Spurs and cracks me up every time I hear it :)

    Oh goal...goal....Stan

Danny Kelly is a bit part of the fabric on my patchwork quilt of why I love football, ably helped by shaved chimp and storyteller Danny Baker

Under the moon was an underrated brilliant football show presented by Danny Kelly and the ludicrously fit Lisa Rogers

I hope he wins his battle and wish him the best

Great broadcaster. used to love his podcasts with Danny Baker. I fear for him as that's a nasty cancer that's not easily curable. I hope he beats it.
  • Sad to hear. Hope he can fight it off. The two Dannys radio shows back in the day were superb. Broadcasters that good are like hen’s teeth.

Gutted to hear this news yesterday, Danny Kelly is one of my favourite broadcasters, for all the reasons stated above, his shows with Danny Baker were must listen back in the day. He’s a proper football fan, not because it became fashionable, but he’s been there on the terraces & gets it as a proper supporter - I wish him nothing but the absolute best - awful when you consider both him & Baker have now been diagnosed with cancer.
