End of the day could have been 9 months- 1 year with a fully ruptured ACL injury. 3 months of Bracing and a couple months of rehab could be considered the best case scenario. The fact he’s missing only 2 months of the season and then has 3 months of pre-season where he can work on his fitness as well hopefully shouldn’t set him back too much

Sadly there is still this potential after 3 months. Think Josh Edwards, Joe Gomez in the past etc.

Just think it's worth highlighting for those who think an accurate timeliness has been provided.

12 week's in a brace, how soul destroying. My fear is that he will lose a yard of pace taking him from a Top flight prospect to a lower league prospect.
Seems his game is more about his strength than pace, so hopefully it doesn’t impact him too much.

12 weeks in a brace is a long time.  Just because he doesn't need an op doesn't mean it is straight forward.

Complications after the healing process can be drawn out with ligament injuries.

The fact he is a young athlete has got to help with the healing and rehab. Sending very best wishes to Micah.

Cowley (Colchester manager) said because he doesn’t need surgery he should be back for preseason whether that’s just strictly gym work or on the grass didn’t Say. There’s never a good time for injuries but if there was this is definitely it

Poor guy. Will need a lot of help mentally too.

Genuinely devastated for him. Worth reminding ourselves about what’s happened with mbick when the inevitable happens and we produce another fantastic prospect who take the money from a Chelsea type of club. Of course mbick could still make a full recovery and still become the player who we all think he can be, but it will take a hell of a lot of work from him now if it didn’t before.

I guess given the extent of the injury he'll be back with us throughout his recovery. The club has done a great job looking after our longer term injuries like Miles and Matty and just look at how well Miles has bounced back for example.
It's not where he'd ever want to be but given what he's got, Micah is in the best place. Whether it's for the physical or the psychological healing I'm sure the club will really look after him for as long as it takes........ and often it can be the psychological that takes the longest.
All the best Micah, look forward to seeing you next season!!

Age in terms of healing and recovery are on his side but it’s a potentially career threatening injury. Let’s really hope not.

This isn't his first long injury either is it? - Wasn't his appearance at Wembley such a surprise in some regard, because he'd been injured for most of last year too?

The Wembley appearance wasn't a surprise, he'd been in and around the squad since Cambridge. But he had had a long term injury before that and it was a surprise he became a first team player not an U21 one

I'm hoping the fact that it doesn't require an op means there is damage (albeit to multiple ligaments) rather than a tear. It may turn out to be the better outcome. Cowley's word about him being the best number 9 he has ever coached in 17 years is high praise indeed so let's hope he can come back from this.

Hard to tell from that angle. Looks to me like the defender just got to the ball first, but it is a lunge and he's not entirely in control. Don't see an over the top tackle either, but definitely the impact from the right leg isn't going to help, particularly if Mbick's left is already stuck by the tackle on the ball.

Might look very different from the side, but on the available evidence it's not in the Muscat or Challinor class for me.

And much as Cowley might be frustrated, any further action isn't going to help Micah sadly. Fingers crossed it will settle quickly and he's not out too long.

Yeah thats what I meant, it was more of a surprise he returned and jumped straight into the First Team and didnt stay with the U21s

Sounds like it isn’t as bad as first feared and will hopefully be back to have a full pre season. Fingers crossed it’s not too much of a setback then.

Yep,NJ alluded to that in his post match interview with Louis Mendez👍🤞

I couldn’t work out if NJ meant it was better than Cowley said it was sort of repeating what Cowley said because it was “just” ligament damage rather than a tear

This quote to Cawley doesn’t suggest he’ll be back for pre season to me

Worse case would have been a full ACL rupture which is standard 9 months out. Half the time ideally means 4-5 months out. 5 months out from the point of injury means he would be fit for the 1st game of next season. He won’t be on the grass for pre-season but ideally shouldn’t be a reason why he can’t demolish the weights over pre-season

No need to rush him back.  We are not going to be playing a 19 year old coming off a major injury in the Championship.  Probably won’t be fit enough to go on loan before the window shuts.  So let him train with the first team,  play some with the u21s and then make a decision in January on whether to loan him or if he will be sticking with the first team

Couldn’t see us rejecting 5M for a player we didn’t see being in the first team next season. Bare in mind this is the same player who Jones happily through on in a L1 playoff final and that was before he had a full summer to develop physically and have his successful loan.

Combine that with the fact Cowley the Colchester manager who has managed at championship and top L1 said he was the best forward he’s ever worked with and the fact our current strike force hasn’t exactly been amazing this season, I’d be shocked if Mbick isn’t in the squad at a minimum next season

In theory yes, although sad to say I guess it does depend on how well he recovers mentally and physically. Having a genuine possibility of a first team/squad place next season would be a good "carrot" to motivate him but you don't want to pressure him into rushing himself.

There may also be any issues he has about the apparent Brighton move falling through. If he accepts he can earn that chance again and knuckles down then he will be fine, if he still sulks about it I cant see NJ being overly impressed.

For what it's worth I do think the former is more likely.

A Leaburn and Mbick strike partnership for next season sounds like a Nathan Jones wet dream

If both had played for Luton at some point he would not be able to contain himself
