MATCH THREAD : Charlton Athletic V Norwich City : Saturday 21st March 2026 : KO 15:00
Good afternoon one and all…
Today we are back on the Hallowed Turf at The Valley when Norwich City provide the opposition in a welcome 3:00pm kick off, Norwich arrive today currently sitting in mid table (literally) 12th spot on 51 points after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat at Southampton on Wednesday, prior to that winning 4 on the spin, and 10 of the 14 league matches played in 2026, so will provide a stiff test for us, it wasn't that long ago they were in the bottom three….
Team selection will be interesting with Nathan saying that "The squad is looking very good, we're getting a few close…Reece Burke, Collins Sichenje, Luke Berry, Harvey Knibbs and Matty Godden have all been sidelined of late, Norwich are showing a total of 13 listed as out…
HEAD TO HEAD…we've met on 83 occasions, winning 34, the Canaries 30 and the remaining 19 encounters ending in draws, we last met on Boxing Day, when Norwich ran out narrow 1-0 victors at Carrow Road.
Will Finnie will be the man in the middle today…
TEAM UP SOON…Lyndon Dykes returns for this afternoon's game against Norwich City…
The striker missed last week’s draw at Oxford United through illness and comes back in to replace Miles Leaburn, who moves to the bench.
Kayne Ramsay, Lloyd Jones and Amari’i Bell will likely start in a back three in front of Will Mannion.
Harry Clarke and Luke Chambers are expected to once again operate as wing-backs with Conor Coventry, Sonny Carey and skipper Greg Docherty making up a midfield three behind Dykes and Tyreece Campbell.
Thomas Kaminski, Macaulay Gillesphey, Conor Coady, Keenan Gough, Joe Rankin-Costello, Jayden Fevrier, Ibrahim Fullah and Charlie Kelman join Leaburn on the substitutes bench.
Charlton: Mannion; Ramsay, Jones, Bell; Clarke, Coventry, Carey, Docherty (c), Chambers; Dykes, Campbell
Subs: Kaminski, Gillesphey, Coady, Gough, Rankin-Costello, Fullah, Fevrier, Leaburn, Kelman

Unchanged from Oxford (albeit with Dykes now well enough I hope)... at least Mannion continues to keep his place0

TC over Kelman 🤔8

Both have been better off the bench so expecting Kelman to nick a goalLargeAddick said:TC over Kelman 🤔4 -
The Norwich coach arrived around 1.35.
The white lines on the pitch would’ve benefited from re painting, rather tatty today,0 -
The persistence with Campbell as a starter is becoming baffling19

NJ trolling the fanbase. His post match interview will be fun if TC has a good game after he was questioned about him this week.LargeAddick said:TC over Kelman 🤔
I find it interesting how Kelman can have quiet games, not have a shot at goal but won’t get much criticism.
TC will always get criticism from some, even if he scores or gets an assist the reaction will be that he should do that more often.8 -
Sigh!!... Any discussion about TC these days!!

If you look at just the top half of that Norwich teamsheet and the font used it could be a flyer for a RnB DJ in a wine bar...

I did think he'd rest TC today but then Kelman has been effective coming off the bench so it's giving him the best set up to get a goal3

Need to get at them down the wings. They've only got 1 fit full back. Central midfielder playing at right back and a right back at left back.1

About as good as it gets with that team.1

What happens if Medic comes on and gets injured?7

It's crazy TC is starting1

Nathan usually gets it right, so let's wait and see, still see us getting a win today...🙌3

Definition of madness. Doing the same thing over & over and expecting a different outcome.MrBurns said:It's crazy TC is starting
TC is not a striker. All he really has is pace.....but recently he looks uninterested and when gets the balls dithers too long with it & invariably loses it.1 -
TC wants to go to the World Cup. He will be fine.0

With that knowledge then the system should change to playing 2 wingers & 2 up front. Or at worst make sure the wingbacks get forward at ever opportunity and take on their man.DyerConsequences said:Need to get at them down the wings. They've only got 1 fit full back. Well NJ would have to be a right idiot to not pick the one guy in his squad who can make a fool of a full-back, wouldn't heDyerConsequences said:Need to get at them down the wings. They've only got 1 fit full back. Central midfielder playing at right back and a right back at left back.3 -
SKY have shown a stat today in the Ipswich vs Millwall game, showing that only Ipswich have scored more goals with substitutes than us - When will people learn that we're more than just about our starting eleven this season? - Nearly an entire season in, and some still haven't worked it out.Its not about eleven players, or the five that come on, its the squad as a whole that can be effective over 90+ minutes.12
-
If we get the first goal we SHOULD go on and win it. Same applys for them.2
-
Just need to take that early chance when we get it, shame Kelman has not started. But still a good option from the bench attacking the covered end0
