    Costello is only good when we have more of the ball, that’s why he came on against Wrexham, and he should have started against Oxford. But most games we play we are going to be better off having Docherty there

    Nathan has been hinting lately that the plan is to play the ball on the floor more. When we are ready for that, I think Costello starts to play a bigger part in games.

    Bit of a Hail Mary but wouldn’t mind Jordan james from Rennes, currently at Leicester on loan and they’ve made noises about making it permanent, doubt he’d want to drop down to league one if they go down. But we obviously wouldn’t be the only championship side in for him. Wouldn’t be surprised if Nathan knows his dad.

    If this 18 million pound to spend is true, I'd really prefer we spend bigger for more quality and have less additions. Say 4/5 players for 18 million but proven at this level rather than 8/9 punts.

    Absolutely no chance I’m afraid. One of the best midfielders in the championship, all the top clubs will be after him

    I'd be surprised if he didn't get a PL move. Someone like West Ham, Forest or Leeds if they stay up

    In the championship you are only allowed to lose £39m over 3 years, can’t get around it with injecting equity like you can in league 1 and league 2. There’s a few more complexities around spending on academy/stadium not counting but even with that we still lose a lot of money at the moment 

    No idea what we will lose this season but would expect it to be at least £10m. I’d expect the transfer spending to be slightly less (or at best similar) vs last season, but the wage budget will be higher which is actually more important to attract better players

    Already been told by Carter we’re losing 13-14M this year in the directors meeting and that’s with 8.9M already invested (11.5M total in transfer fees but spreading across player contracts). Considering you can lose max 39M over 3 years (3x13M) I wouldn’t expect much more than we did last summer as I doubt our revenue significantly increases from this year compared to next without a few player sells.

    If I had to take a guess we will see a big switch from transfer fees on players to bigger wages instead this summer

    Yep sounds about right. The Sichenje fee was brought forward from the summer too. If I was to guess I think we’ll have maybe £8m to spend next season but the increase in wage budget will mean we are able to compete better for championship level players rather than shopping mostly from league 1 and ex Luton players

    We’ve also got to factor in that the flying Scotsman exhibition at the National Railway museum finishes in April, in time for the summer window.  As yet the autumn exhibitions haven’t been announced, but the loss of the Flying Scotsman could see us back in with a shout

    We need to shift a few players out too. Both for their wages, and for a year's worth of their transfer fees that will hit the loss number.

    A lot of money was spent last summer on players that are either out on loan, or not rated (for whatever reason) by NJ, which unfortunately will impact what we can spend this summer. An extreme situation, but on Saturday NONE of the players we played for last summer started.

    Taylor Berry Godden out of contract that  saves us money on wages. 

    I’d assume wed want to and have a good chance of offloading and getting fees for A.Mitchell, Gillesphey. 

    Then you have Ramsay and TC who will likely go for good money if they don’t extend their contracts. 

    We have some of the youngsters like Asiimwe, Z.Mitchell, Anderson, Gough, Fullah, Kanu we can loan out all to L1 next year very easily if we want to as well or potentially sell for 1 or 2 of them. 

    Then you have Apter, Ahadme and Tanto I think we want to offload but I’d think we struggle to get what we ideally want for them.

    Then you also have Clarke, Coady, Fevs, Chambers and potentially Dykes out the door as well. 

    There’s a good chance we get quite a few out the door this window should get us a bit of a bigger transfer or wage budget to go down a lot of different avenues
