Your Season Ticket History

it’s been touched on in the ST thread, so seems worthy of a new thread.

What season was your first season ticket?

What’s your record of having one been like since then?

Have you moved stands / seats or remained constant?

On flip side, have you never had a season ticket

96 to 97 first season with a season ticket, last was the Chris Powell title winning season.  Work and life with a disabled son made renewal too expensive, I barely get to double figures home and away these days.

Had a Season Ticket from 98/99 through to 22/23, always the same seat in the East Stand - Stopped renewing because of ULEZ and because I got fed up getting home at 11pm (for the evening games), as parking is a nightmare

1970's, don't remember what year...got a ten-year one in 81, then a couple of five years. Single seasons thereafter until 2016, when I refused due to Roland. Re-started in 2020.

Have been west stand lower since 92, but switched seat about 12 years ago to be more central. I like my aisle seat by the away dug out, but it might change once the re-development happens this summer...

Started supporting Charlton in the mid 60s.
Never needed a season ticket back then.
Bought my 1st season ticket when we returned to the Valley and have had one ever since.
Lower North, upper North and NW quadrant.

78/79 season and every season since.

Started off in the old original west stand, then the east terrace/covered end
At Selhurst, the Sainsburys end/Arthur Wait terrace
At Upton Park, the North Bank terrace
Back at the Valley, Block E North Lower and now the front of block H upper

Had one since circa 83 other than the year the crooks were in charge about 5 years ago and last year - had a 10 year one in 92 - now that definitely rewarded commitment as was watching prem football by the end of it for pittance

I definitely had one 89/90, can't remember whether I had a season ticket the year before or just paid on the gate; stood on the Half Awake terrace.

Went to UEA in Oct-90 and rarely went to Charlton games for a number of years as I couldn't afford tickets or to travel down.

Decided to buy a season ticket for the 99/00 season in the North Lower and had one since, moving upstairs when the top deck opened (Block M as it was non-smoking) then across to the back row of N (our current seat) 2 or 3 years later when we got pissed off with the people around us.

From 1992 when we went back until 2024. Firstly in the South & then the AC Stand when it opened. Final season in North Upper.

Stopped buying one due to a couple of factors....mainly my son started working for the club & I didnt want to sit on my own, but also multiple eye surgeries meant my long vision wasn't great, especially under floodlights.

First started going in 1992 as a five year old - first game was 5th December 1992.

Dad and I first got season tickets when we were promoted in 1998 as it looked like the days of buying week-to-week were over. They were in the West Stand but we’d sat all over up until then. I had my season ticket from then all the way up to 2015, same seats, when I moved to Yorkshire. Dad still has his and sits in the West.

Probably get to The Valley 3-4 times a season now and most of my games are away - we now go as a four -me, dad, my wife (semi-converted from the blue side of South London), and my son.

First I think was 93/94. I may have got a half one for 92/93 if they offered one, but I can’t remember.

Ever present since bar one Roland protest point, but still ended up buying a half season one as I was still going every game.

Was Covered End, back row of E Block until the upper was built. Had J and M block STs from then but then joined the rest of the family in the East when my kids started going about 8 years ago

First season ticket in 1975 when stood on the east terrace before moving to the main stand for around 4 seasons until Selhurst. Maintained a season ticket throughout apart from the Roland years. Have sat in the same seat in the AC stand since it was built having sat just behind the away dugout when we first returned to The Valley.

Pretty sure you had a season ticket in the Selhurst Park years, I know I did.

Every season since 1971 except for two under Roland.
Was game by game from 1963.
  • Started going to most home games in 1983 as a 7- year old iirc. After pestering my Dad for a couple of years before.  Didn't need a season ticket then.

I guess my first was when we went back the The Valley.

Have had one every year since except for 3 years at uni, 2 traveling the world and 1 protesting against Roland.

Once back at The Valley we were North stand, moving to North Upper when built.  Then with the RD protest we (8 of us) lost our seats and also by the following season when we bought, we had young'uns with us so now sit in the family stand.

Held mine since the 98/99 Prem season. Was initially dumped in the North A block by myself while my brother and Dad were dumped in the West lower block by the away fans. Couldn’t get any further apart at the time. No fault of ours it was purely all on the club somehow separating our application forms and by the time we realised there was nowhere left we could get three together anymore. The next season they both joined me in A block.

Once the Upper was built we were put in H block having if I recall let the club know we’d like to be moved up there was how it worked at the time.

Now in K block in the Upper, have had a few different seats until my current one became available. Pretty much most of the block are season ticket holders, same faces every game.

Been going since 1976, paying at the turnstiles, until we could afford a season ticket when we got back to the valley, sometimes had the season ticket, sometimes not but still paid on the gate not missing games, then had a season ticket from just before getting into the prem, thought I’d treat myself to a seat in the upper west, view was great, atmosphere not so good!! Been in the north east quadrant ever since. Just paid for each game when at Selhurst and Upton Park.

No point hiding it, the clue is in the nickname. This season. And even then I missed the first couple of matches. I bought a ticket for the Leicester game, and enjoyed it so much I had a season ticket at the top of NWD within a week. Already renewed for next season, and will definitely try and sample the delights of an away game if my loyalty points permit it!
    Welcome and enjoy👍

First was 1981, then a gap because was at university up north then abroad, then back but was working plenty of weekends so didn't bother until got a half ticket for the back end of 97/98 which turned out to be pretty good timing, had one since then. Was north upper for a bit but now back in the East, AC stand, as near as makes no difference to where I started standing back in the day. In League 1 I never bothered with the evening games but am a glory boy so have made them this season.

I used to work alternate weekends with a day off in the week.

I hated it, as missed out on the back to the valley game, and other big games.

First season ticket was the 1998 season we got promotion at Wembley.

We couldn’t really afford it, as we even had a default letter from our bank saving we’d gone overdrawn on our mortgage.

The only reason in bought a season ticket was because every other weekend, I wanted to make sure I could get in the ground.

Had a season ticket in all stands, upper and lower tiers, but now life has gone full circle now do hospitality, having tried all of them out.

The only time since 1998 that I’ve not had a season ticket is when thst dozey Meire was running the joint.

Totally agree re evening games and parking. It's the one time I want to drive, I have an early start up at 0430hrs,  otherwise I can use public transport.
There is an ABUNDANCE of unused retail parking locally (especially in the evenings), the club should get off its backside and approach some of these stakeholders.
