97-98 first season ticket as was struggling to sit where i wanted. Carried on until 2019, when the break up of my marriage and shared duties with 4 kids and a new partner meant something had to give (yeah i know, couldnt do it to the kids in the end!). Always sat West Upper block L with my dad, who stopped renewing in 2017 due to failing health. Now i get to around 6 games a season, and sit either West or East Stand. Strangely I cant stand being behind a goal , never liked it as a kid, i want to see the game side on otherwise i feel i miss a half!! Almost worth a thread in itself!
Same actually. I like being behind the goal for away games but not at The Valley.

Unless I’ve missed a post, this season seems to be the earliest so far which surprises me - I’m old, but not that old. Anybody know which season they were first issued ?

First season ticket was 98/99 and sat second row behind goal in Covered End - then moved up to North Upper when it was built so sat in same seat since 2001 and wont be giving it up!

My dad first took me (I think) in 1969.

I used to stand on the wall at the front of the east terrace where my feet fitted between the red railings.

He bought me my first ground/terrace S/T I think in 72/73 and I've had a S/T every year since and always will.

I graduated to standing at the front of the Covered End in about 1974 and started standing towards the back by 76.

When we moved to Selhurst Park I started on The Arthur Waite Terrace before switching to The Homesdale Terrace in the final year.

Then onto The Chicken Run at Upton Park followed by The North Terrace.

Back to The Covered End in 92 until they built the Upper Covered End.
    I bought a 10 year VIP S/T.

Switched to Upper Covered End when it was built and have had the same seat since then.

I've missed about 6 home games since 1972 for family/friends weddings, including a play off game v Leeds in about 86 as was on pre booked holiday in Paris.

The only game I've truly missed voluntarily was Southampton H this season, when I went on a cruise with my wife, brother and sister in law, to mark the anniversary of the untimely death of my niece.

First - final season at Sh!thurst Park.

Every year since except for the protest year.

Various locations - stand at Croydon, stand at Upton Park first year, then chicken run the year after, Covered End, Jimmy Seed for 5-0 Southampton game, then Upper West, finally Curbishley for the last few years.

I can't remember my first game, but I was going regularly in 1997 with my Dad, Uncle and cousin. Our first season tickets would've been 98/99 in North Lower, by the now AC stand corner flag. We moved to CE Block M a couple of years later and my brother joined us at some point. I had to give it up in 2010 because of work and then university but often came back for games.

I got a season ticket by myself in 2013/14 in NL right behind the goal, but had to give it up again after a season as I started playing on Saturdays. I got a season ticket again by myself in 2021 in the same seats I sat in as a youngster - North Upper Block M, with my girlfriend coming sporadically. I managed to convince my brother, Dad and Uncle to rejoin as ST holders this year. Now my brother and I have both brought our kids to their first games this year.

84/85 first season ticket and had one since and I'm booked in till I die (North Stand Patron, when raising money for the Covered end, got a lifesentencetime one)
Covered end , arthur Waite, opposite the chicken run , north bank Upton Park , covered end , east stand , west upper, North West Quad , Family Stand (cheapest ones when that prick Roland owned us ) , West Stand lower now
how much was the lifetime season ticket, that was the Valley Investment Plan was it?

This is the 2nd year I've had my ST, started in the Upper West and switched to the lower West half way through last season. The Upper was ok but somehow felt too far from the action so I tried a game in the Lower West and enjoyed it much more. The ticket office were great and the switch was easy to do, they helped me with which seats were a better view and made it easy.
It took a while to get to 'know' the regulars around where I sit and for a while I wasn't sure tbh...... more me being sensitive than anything to do with them though  :)
I took 3 friends to the Wrexham game...... not at all in the expectation they'd ever become regulars..... it was hard to get 4 seats together in the Lower West so we sat in the East, more or less opposite my usual seat and that was a good place too....... maybe if ticket prices get shunted up too much in the future I'll want to move to a cheaper area...... and the East is a good spot  :)

Valley Investment Plan was I think £1,250 for a ten year season ticket but I’m sure someone will correct me on that if I’m wrong.

97/98 season was my first season ticket, had been a pick a game goer, but noticed I was doing more and more, so got  the season ticket luckily, as the the stadium sold out in Premiership seasons.

First game - Burnley 1971 (age 10).  First Season Ticket game - York City 1973 (age 12) and had one every season since though I waivered a bit during our exile particularly at Selhurst but always knew I couldn't keep away.
Stood as a VP candidate and had a ST in North Lower since our return.  Joined by my son as a ST holder in 2006 (aged 7).  Had my moments during the Roland years too but always renewed.
Made and lost some great friends through supporting Charlton, it simply is what we do and has been and still is a massive part of who I am.  Sky games and getting just that bit older do make me wonder why I do it but 65 next year so last season of full price next season will help keep me going hopefully. My wife also likes her Saturday afternoon peace and quiet too much every 2 weeks  :)

Got a season ticket on the return to The Valley, and kept it up until we moved here in 2003.
Wereabouts in the world are you now then? @Algarveaddick

I only went occasionally before 1998, but two things happened that year that changed all that. Firstly, as others have said, promotion meant that I'd need to commit to a season ticket if I wanted to see any games. Secondly, and this is sheer coincidence, just before the play-off final I met some people from my town who were season ticket holders; before that I thought I was the only Charlton fan. This meant I could go to games without being a loner.

With the exception of a short period of boycotting at the end of the Duchatelet era, I've continuously had one since then. Started out in the Jimmy Seed, which I quite liked, then had a couple of seats in the old Covered End. Now in CE upper.

From 1963 to 1973 had a season ticket standing on the East terrace with my Dad (at least we had season tickets for some of that period). Then went to Uni, then moved around with work including 4 years in Aberdeen. Next time I had a season ticket was 1985-89 at Selhurst (again with my Dad), then worked abroad for a number of years so very rare attendance over that period. Then a season ticket from 1998 to 2008 (in the new West Stand), then no season ticket since then. A few of those seasons I probably attended 75% of home games but could always get a ticket.

Now living in the Cotswolds, so only rare attendance nowadays. God bless Charlton TV and VPN!

Half season ticket in lower covered in the first promotion to prem season. And then up to and including 01/02 when my son was born. He eventually got the bug/curse and every season from I think 08/09 except one during the Duchalet period. We were in the west but have moved to the upper Covered for the last few.

Only had season tickets for four seasons.

Got my first season ticket for season 2002/03. The North Upper had opened and it was finally possible for me to get hold of one.
Last season was 2005/06 and then in the 2006/07 season, I just purchased tickets for the occasional game, as I knew I would be moving to NZ in the spring of 2007.

I miss going to The Valley. A couple of cans of Kronenbourg on the train from London Bridge. A couple of pints in the Royal Oak and a few after the game.

Sadly, last time I went to a game was the 2-2 draw vs Scunthorpe (2011/12). Every time I've been back to London since, it's been during the off-season.

    Was that a good deal?!

I mean fair fucking play and that was serious dough in 1991 so I hope you get many more decades out of that which I’m sure you will

and I hope you get a few games within that period that arent torture which i’m less confident about

I got my first s/t for season 96/97 - there wasn’t really a need for one before then as we were not exactly selling the various grounds out. Sat in West Stand Block C, until the stupid various pricing zones came into force; then I changed to the other side of the stairs into Block B (& saved around £100, for the sake of moving 3-4 feet). My final s/t was for season 19/20 in Upper West Block K. I moved upstairs because I got so pissed off with having to stand up literally every few minutes so that somebody could go into the Millenium Lounge - this also happened 5 minutes into the game/before half time/after half time/before full time 🤬

The ensuing Nimer/Southall/Elliot/Sandgaard (& anybody else I may have forgotten about) chaos led to me losing interest in going to games, & that has turned into a habit - together with the f***ing council making parking almost impossible. Any future games I may go to I will buy individual tickets.

Oh for the days of waking up on a Saturday morning, thinking ‘I’d like to go to the match’ & paying at the turnstiles (younger supporters will need to have this explained to them).

I hardly went to a game in the 70s and 80s but got hooked after a game at Selhurst in 1986, the week after I split with a girlfriend and just decided to go to a match on the spur of the moment.

Bought a season ticket the following season, bought a ten year season ticket in the VIP scheme (can't remember the price but it was a great deal) and had one until I went to Thailand in 2002. Bought a half-season ticket when I came back in 2021 and have had a ticket ever since. Making up for all that time away!

Had a season ticket since I was 14 and have kept it even when I was playing and couldnt attend, also have kept it even though no longer live in the UK. No judgement but guess im just a loyal customer.

No point hiding it, the clue is in the nickname. This season. And even then I missed the first couple of matches. I bought a ticket for the Leicester game, and enjoyed it so much I had a season ticket at the top of NWD within a week. Already renewed for next season, and will definitely try and sample the delights of an away game if my loyalty points permit it!
No shame in that everyone here had a first time aswell (insert kenneth williams meme)

Got my first ST 1976-7 season, think it was a fiver. Had one ever since, apart from one of the Selhurst seasons when I think I forgot to renew or didn't bother (not much risk of being locked out in those days).

The old Valley ones were "ground" tickets i.e. anywhere but the West Stand, Selhurst was the Half Hour Wait stand and I had the West stand then the North bank at Upton Park.

I was in the North lower then climbed the stairs to the Upper tier when they opened that, moved seats a few times but now anyone blocking my view would need to be very tall as I'm in the front row.

First season ticket in 99/00 F Block Covered End and had same seat until 2006/07. I only go a couple of times a year now.

First season ticket was at Upton Park albeit was going to home games regularly at Shitehurst and The Valley before that. About 10 years ago I was missing more and more games due to work commitments and then having kids so a season ticket was no longer cost effective for me. Finally got a season ticket again last season with my 2 sons, brother and nephew.

Think it was E block when first back at the The Valley then Curbs stand for a bit when it opened. Back into the Covered End F block, then went upper tier block M when it was redeveloped. Tickets now are block L Covered End.

We got our first season tickets as a family in the East-most block of the Covered End a couple of weeks before the move to Selhurst was announced 🙄. IIRC we were in the Arthur Wait for the first season, but after getting bits of broken tile lobbed at us from the terrace in front when we played Palace, Dad moved us over to the main stand the following season. I can't remember if I had a season ticket at Upton Park - I know I occasionally got the coach down from uni to Stratford but beyond that my memories of that era are pretty much gone. Next time I definitely had a season ticket was the 1st Prem season, in Block H of the East Stand, and the following year moved to Block D, where I stayed til the last Parky season.

To be fair, most seasons since 2011/12 have been an off season.
