Was thinking that New Caledonia had a decent stadium.
Just checked and it's being played in Mexico.

Yep, there's definitely a difference between the grounds.

Jamaica scrape a very unconvincing 1-0 win and will play DR Congo on Tuesday night. They will have to be significantly better than that to have any chance.

Hard to be critical of any Addicks out there when their replacements looked equally, if not even more, ineffective.

TC subbed on 68 mins for Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey.

Karoy played the full 90 minutes.

Bell came on as an 84th minute substitute to help see the game out.

Wonder how they will handle if Iran pulls out? UAE qualify?

It was absolutely shocking how poor Jamaica were. I reckon we could put 4 or 5 past that defence. Gaps everywhere.

Unless Congo are worse that I can imagine, I don’t see how Jamaica can suddenly improve. Their lack of defense is why they are only in the playoff.

Wales feck it up. Manager, Bellamy needed to do something mid 2nd half. Team Lacked composure & quality in midfield. Missed Kieffer Moore. Took James off & Sorba Thomas on. Welsh curse of shit back ups.

Couldn’t see this Welsh team beating Italy. So if they loose better they do it now.
I watched the Northern Ireland game, Italy are no great shakes. Bosnia and Herzegovina definitely have a good chance.
I had it on in the background and thought Northern Ireland were really getting into the game before the first Italy goal. The Italian team were struggling with home expectation and don't look anywhere near their teams of old.

A trip to Sarajevo is marginally less attractive than Cardiff so hopefully Bosnia can deny them a third world cup in a row.

Iraq beat UAE in the Asian play off final so they surely get priority.

If Iraq beat Bolivia then Iran's place will probably go to UAE.
If Bolivia win then you'd imagine Iraq will get the place.

At least they can now all spend their summer doing what they usually do at major tournaments. Cheer on whoever plays England.

If Bosnia win that, that's such a poor world cup group overall!

That's what happens with so many teams involved, you get a lot of rubbish groups.

    Two other poor groups are:

Mexico, South Africa, South Korea and Denmark/Czech Republic.
    USA, Paraguay, Australia and Kosovo/Turkey.

They're probably the worst Groups, and whilst you can no doubt pick some others - Its not surprising that they're the ones that house the Hosts, as they get seeded themselves, and so avoid one of the power teams. Not to mention the sceptic in me, feels like they've done that to give the three hosts a great chance of advancing.

Championship star Sammie Szmodics remained unconscious for over an hour after he clashed with a Czech player just 1 minute after coming on for Ireland tonight. He regained consciousness in the hospital, however his current state is completely unknown.

Between that and the crap kick off times from a UK point of view, it's the least I've been looking forward to a World Cup for years.

Normally get really excited but will probably miss half the matches with them being overnight kick offs, and then there's the expansion meaning a load of Brazil v Haiti type mismatches and 72 games just to get it down to a last 32.

For those interested in our Reggae Boyz

Karoy Anderson - Anderson has been in the camps for a while now and every time he has played, I haven’t been too sure what he’s good at. I think this role as the person who just helps Hayden in the middle isn’t a bad idea. I still don’t think he does anything spectacularly, but he doesn’t need to in that role - just give it to the more creative players as quickly as possible. I think he may start again next week, so I hope his passing (particularly, forward passing) improves.

Tyreece Campbell – Didn’t do enough with the space and half chances he got in the first half. Was a bit more effective in the second, but still quite wasteful for me. Would’ve like to see him drive at his defender more. He had some success in the first half but didn’t really build on it. Bailey will take his spot back in the next game.

Amari’i Bell - I also have no recollection of Bell touching the ball.

FIFA will do as much as possible to ensure USA go as far as possible in this tournament. Best scenario is they have a terrible start and don’t even make it out the group.

I don’t follow international football that
    much anymore.

Considering how many countries are in the next World Cup, is it seen as a failure that only England and Scotland have made it out of the UK and Ireland or expected?

From my limited view, I thought more would have made it.

The melt down from the Irish and particularly the Welsh this morning on socials has been fucking beautiful. Ghana, Croatia and Panama flags already up in their bios 🤣

    Proper raging.

Well despite there being 48 teams and a lot of smaller nations at the World cup, only 16 of those are from Europe.

Wales, Ireland and NI are all outside the top 16 ranked European nations so it wouldn't have been expected they'd make it.

Haven't read any other analysis on the Welsh game but surely Bellamy made a mistake in taking the two best players on the night off in Brooks and James when Harris and Liam Cullen wouldn't get in a Charlton team !
With the adrenaline flowing both could've done the 90 and 1-0 it could've finished.
Darlow was good but he is prone to a rush of blood and it didn't surprise me when he missed his punch 4 minutes from the end and it was 1-1

Wales started playing like CAFC when we are 1-0 up but they didn't have Ramsey,Jones and Bell to see out the game or Mannion who would've punched that corner away if he couldn't take it cleanly.

Surely Italy have the nous this time to get pass Bosnia and get back on the world stage ?

Given that the number of European places hasn't gone up as much as the other confederations have, I'd say 2 from 5 is about what we would have expected. But not getting anyone into the playoff finals is a miss - even allowing for the current Wales side not being even a shadow of the 2016 era, they should have been capable of beating Bosnia, even if Italy in the final would have been a long-shot.

For Northern Ireland, I think I'd say reaching the playoffs counts as a decent performance.

Out of Campbell, Anderson & Bell I find it baffling that Bell is the one that doesn't seem to play much

Seems like yesterday they played as much of a B team as possible, with Bell's injury record it's possible he was being saved. I do agree it's odd he hasn't played more before but he did pull out of a squad earlier in the season which might not have gone down well
