Alright, we have a winner

Their pitch bestrides the meridian. We can all go home now1 -
The bus stop insult chant is possibly the worst chant in football0
-
As the Pub landlord says " We tell you what time you have your dinner !!"CAFCTrev said:"we're the closest team to the Greenwich meridian, you'll never sing that"0 -
Have I got this right?
Supporters of a club, who are located in a a tatty stadium which is itself located in a borough that is a byword for grinding tedium, are attempting to insult the Valley and the borough of Greenwich. Hmmm.
Croydon Attractions. A television Mast and a old small tatty athletics “ stadium”
Greenwich Attractions. The Cutty Sark, The National Maritime Museum, The Meridian Line, The Royal, Observatory, Greenwich Park, countless other listed buildings and a long Thameside Frontage etc. It also possesses a bigger football stadium.1 -
All this talk of nearest club to the Meridian line is rubbish. It's not called Orient Meantime or Wet Spam Meantime, or St Margaretsbury Meantime - it's called GREENWICH Meantime. As far as I'm concerned the important location is the Royal Observatory - we are 1.8 miles away, the Spanners are 2 miles away, so as far as I'm concerned we are the nearest League Club to the geographical point that sets world time.2

As much as they no doubt would rather be, the Spanner’s toolbox is not in Greenwich. Time has literally moved on when they react to Greenwich clocks. All this talk of nearest club to the Meridian line is rubbish. I always feel that our proximity to the meridian means the local clocks run slightly differently to elsewhere, which is why our games never start on time.

And maybe explains why refs invariably add on too much when we’re winning and too little when we’re not?Big William said:I always feel that our proximity to the meridian means the local clocks run slightly differently to elsewhere, which is why our games never start on time.2 -

Weirdly Charlton Athletic was the answer to a question on University Challenge this week concerning clubs in metropolitan boroughs. None of the intellectual giants knew which club was in Greenwich and one halfwit actually said Crystal Palace.0

I hope they rescinded his scholarship there and thenLeeValliant said:Weirdly Charlton Athletic was the answer to a question on University Challenge this week concerning clubs in metropolitan boroughs. Bit rich coming from the arse end of Sainsburys anyway.YTS1978 said:At haringey borough they sing "bus stop in Tottenham, we're just a bus stop in Tottenham", which makes sense, although they'll be a couple of divisions closer next year fingers crossed
Dont think i've ever heard it as an "insult" towards another team. Especially weird if the bus stop is in a Royal Borough and there is no connection to another team. Odd.
Bus stop in Croydon lol0 -
Better than being any kind of stop in Croydon, I'd say.0

You’re just a TV Ariel in London… or
You’re just a greenhouse in London.0 -

"You're just a public park named after a Great Exhibition building that originally stood in Hyde Park and was then subsequently moved to Penge, in Surrey" has a nice ring to it, but a tad wordy4 -
One of the few clubs of significant standing that not only has a station named after the club (😉) but is actually located by the ground.Stuart_the_Red said:Not just a bus stop, but a train station as well!

OK, maybe not necessarily named after the club but clearly its claim to fame is being near the club…0 -
