I agree they aren’t all that but they are currently performing even worse than you’d think possible, horrific showings recently5

Kaminski at Stoke what you mean the fluke cross and the Ramsey mistake .. Pompey away ?? Home really goal of the season that went into top corner no Keeper in the world would have got near .. getting desperate to back up your facts , fact is without Kaminski we would have been bottom 3 long time ago_uptheaddicks said:Kaminski at Stoke, Portsmouth away and home.
Mannion today and at home to Bristol City
Actual gifting of points.
Really poor today Will. You obviously don't need a cap in the sun, so catch the bloomin' ball or punch it to safety.5 -
some great material on Rich Cawley's substack from NJ post match. Well worth the money4

We played a way to stay up .. nothing more nothing less if we had tired to attack this league we would be relegated … our clean sheet record is excellent our away form (7 unbeaten ) is superb …… we could not come into this league thinking we could match anyone cause we could not that’s why all the predications had us finishing bottom fact is we not been in the bottom 3 at all and now we we are 99.9% safe .. NJ as already said we will be more positive especially at home next season and our recruitment will show this …fans need a reality check and quickly our aim was 4th from bottom at all costs ….this is our biggest archivement in our history staying in a league that is so financially unfair and unbalancedMacronate said:Since 21st October when we beat Ipswich, we’ve scored more than 1 goal twice and in one of those Leicester had a red card after 15 minutes.
That is genuinely pathetic.
I was 💯 for Jones’s appointment and remain behind him because it seems that we will stay up. But that stat above is not sustainable or acceptable.11 -
We played a team that went to Coventry 7 days earlier and drew 0-0 …. Let’s get it in perspectivecharltonkeston said:That was very disappointing to watch. We could and should have won. We had the chances and when we did go 1 up we could and should have scored a second. We came close but then we just invited Wednesday to come and have a go. Their goal was yet another horrible show from our keeper who flapped and failed to hold a ball that was bread and butter to any keeper in any league. We played a team that were dead and buried months ago, a team full of young players and players who would struggle to get in any another clubs squad in this league but we handed them a point. We could have been all but safe if we had taken advantage of their lack of quality but now we have really put ourselves in a ridiculous position. We ain’t getting anything from Ipswich, Hull will be extremely tough and it could all hinge on our last game away to Swansea. Hopefully West Brom will get a deduction and Oxford will do a favour and lose a couple.Today might be the game where we look back at our keeper having a steady game and making the one mistake that costs us dearly.2 -
Mannion punched a cross about 40 yards about five minutes before failing to catch a cross under a bit of pressure. It would have been so simple to have just punched it away again. That decision cost us safety.Do we have one of the worst squads in the league? Yes.Could a different manager get a better tune out of those players? Possibly, but it’s not guaranteed.Personally, if NJ was replaced by a better manager, I’d be happy, but without a massive improvement to the squad I think we’re screwed next season.
There are probably only four or five of those players I’d want to keep:
Lloyd Jones
Collins Sichenje
Amarii Bell
Kayne Ramsay
Matty Godden
Maybes:
Dykes, Campbell, Clarke, Fullah4 -
I think the booing when the players came over at the end was a disgrace. Obviously disappointment in the performance, in the moment, but intensely disrespectful and the fans let themselves down. L Jones reaction understandable and embarrassing. I can accept being shot down22

How much is a ticket? How much does it cost to travel from London to Sheffield?BarnehurstBob said:I think the booing when the players came over at the end was a disgrace. I would have agreed until we started this awful run of home defeats. Surely we could have played more attacking line-ups in at least some of those games?FishCostaFortune said:
I don’t like watching it, and can’t wait for the end of the season.SELR_addicks said:Does anyone actually genuinely enjoy watching us play currently?
This is the biggest issue going into next season, even if we do stay up. It's a style of play issue.
But I also think it’s the exact right way to set up and try and play with the resources we currently have.
Away, the plan has worked quite well since the match from hell. Two wins and four draws is decent form for any side.0 -
When I woke up this morning Kate Winslet was begging me to let her have it, but I respectfully declined and made a cup of tea instead and found a million under the teapot whilst doing it. Amazing!jimmymelrose said:
What I don’t understand is what the fans who travelled up there are expecting. We play crap football and we never score more than one goal. Why go if you don’t accept that? I wouldn’t bloody go even if I could, and there’s nothing wrong with that when you really consider that the team would be better off with no fans there rather than being booed.TellyTubby said:
That wasn't a good performance by the team, but most of them put effort in, particularly Lloyd Jones as he always does.twiggyaddick said:
The booing, 100%.The Red Robin said:What was Lloyd Jones so angry about at the end? The fans for booing or his own teammates?
I can see why he would get pissed off with the booing, it's happening far too much lately. I know that it's always happened, but it must be demoralising to put your all in, get a point which is very helpful toward staying up, and your own fans slag you off.
The booing really doesn't help create a united front. I know that we all hoped for 3 points today, but please try to avoid the booing and save it for really deserving occasions. (If you have to boo).
Some people on here on every pre-match thread predict us to win 3-0, 2-1, 3-1. I don’t get it. Do they wake up each morning expecting to find their favourite actress in bed with them, or expecting to find a million quid under the teapot?
Yesterday morning I woke up thinking "this is the day when we secure our Championship status by beating the worst team in the division 3-0.
The thing is I never learn.
I make the same delusional errors all the time and fail to update my expectations.
So does NJ........
This team is pretty crap and lacking in quality especially in midfield, but I have to think they are actually not as bad as they are being set up and told to to play by NJ?
His inability to recognise and change things up mid game and his love of tired old ex Luton players that 'understand his philosophy and game plan'. His poor judgement of players that he wanted in.......
These things are just as delusional as me declining to shag Kate Winslet.
We are what we are under NJ. We will spend another 10 mill in the summer and if we are lucky scrape enough to be above the drop zone without two or three teams below us getting points deductions.
But it will still be horrible to watch and we will still probably not score more than 1 snatched goal in most games.
Am I stupid enough to still go and watch?
Probably - because I am a delusional mug and this is Charlton Athletic - my team!
Sorry Kate- I'm busy.....9 -

Full credit to those who got to the game despite the f*cked up trains. Being in that situation is so stressful. That's real dedication and one that I suspect that the players or management don't understand. I haven't read all the comments about the booing but when people put themselves through a lot of angst and money getting to the game they have every right to show their displeasure. After all how else do we portray that what we are being served up is not acceptable.
I was at the game and the passing, movement and general flow (or non-flow) from our side was nothing short of abysmal, even embarrassing. You can forgive the odd game like that but this has become the norm. I saw simple short passes going astray, headers straight back to the opposition, schoolboy errors like allowing players to get goalside (Doc, are you reading this!)... I could go on. I watch other teams and think 'I wish we did that'. Lets hope that we can get to the end of the season outside the relegation places so that we can reset and start again next year, hopefully with a bit of quality in the side.11 -
For you or me maybe that would be the reaction. For elite footballers the reaction to that should be “I’m going to prove I don’t need to be replaced in the rebuild”AberystwythAddick said:
It really does give the players nothing to play for then. Arsenal are having their best season for decades & were 9 points clear at the top of the Prem last week…but they were booed off the pitch after losing to Bournemouth (because God forbid they didn’t win a game).2 -
In my opinion it’s the manager, not the players. His football is so dire I’m surprised anybody goes.thenewbie said:

Early in the season we played crap football but compensated with lots of pressing and energy, stopping the other team playing either. That's become what we see now with a total lack of enthusiasm or spirit and apparently hoping to just hold on in a siege mentality (against a team with a literally negative point total.)
If there really is such a lack of fight, why is this? Do players already know they won’t be with us next year? Were they told six weeks ago that we’d already avoided relegation and so we can just leisurely see games out? Is yet another player in the NJ doghouse, this time Coventry, and some players are not happy about it?
It’s the manager I don’t trust or have confidence in, not the players. His football has limited us to fight and hard work and when players can’t reach those heights we have nothing left to offer.3 -
Good to see we've got fans who weren't there telling fans who were how they should react at the final whistle.
If you're just following the score on your phone or watching from your sofa, you just aren't as emotionally invested as someone who's spent hours of their time and hundreds of pounds to be there in the flesh.
Sorry if that touches some nerves, but it's true.

It seems that way with the booing, but serving up what our team has recently deserves a reaction, the fans aren’t just going to say’ that’s ok, unlucky, on to the next one, take the emotion out of football and the games gone!!Oh Eddie Youds... said:

You think their players were complaining that the free kick should've been closer? Really? It was clear they thought it should've been a pen.AS1987 said:
What was the stone wall penalty? If it's the one they were given a free kick for, I'm pretty sure that was outside the box as the player who was fouled was complaining that it should have been an inch closer to the box and didn't appeal for a penalty.1968CAFC said:All the way to Sheffield to watch Shite.
wednesday were the better team in the first half and were robbed as they should have had a stone wall penalty.1 -
Didnt see the game only Mannions cock up on highlights.Just a thought, some people saying Jones has taken us a s far as he can,and should be replaced.Seem to remember some people said the same about Curbishley when we finished 7th in the premier league.Be careful what you wish for.13

I’m not sure. I think you’re drastically underestimating how good modern Championship players are. Our squad isn’t good enough.eastterrace6168 said:This is a team that the parts are greater than the sum, and yes I have that the correct way round, they should be a lot better than they are displaying week after week, and that sits squarely on NJ's shoulders and the training tactics (if there is any) employed.
Really hope we get over the line quick, so we can consign this season to the dark side...3 -
Goddens frustration with his teammates slowness to play him onside summed it up, He's just back and ready to go, they're all done in after a season of suffer-ball, even the loanees are done, we limp on.4
-
I thought their keeper looked really shaky yesterday and I'm amazed we've didn't take advantage by getting more balls in the box.3

We are just floating along as a club at the moment and the lack of fight or awareness is not good.
IF (I said if not when) we do go down, I can’t see how we could recover from shitting the bed post Boro, and get ourselves mentally in the right place for a promotion push.
Attitudes stinking all over the place at the moment.1 -
