Interesting one of the first things they mention is organising Arsenal’s scouting. Dane Murphy also had a background in scouting and recruitment.

    Here’s his LinkedIn experience:

That's a really really impressive CV to be able to call upon in terms of experience. Looks to have a really strong scouting and recruitment background.

I wonder if, as someone involved for several years with a renowned, UK-based sports data company, he's had dealings with someone who has been trying to sue renowned, UK-based sports data companies, ie Chris Farnell?

When he was at Arsenal he was known as Dick Law. Alan Davies and others on their podcast were critical of him over Arsenal transfer dealings in the later Wenger era.

No idea if he was directly involved but do remember the noise about him

Presuming he’s just gonna be in charge of transfer deals and contracts if Chapple is doing recruitment

That would put Rodwell out of a job. I suspect he’s here to advise us on our use of analytics in recruitment and to help the board evaluate what Rodwell and Chapple do

He won't be in charge of anything as a NED.

For those that were wondering I can confirm that this isn’t the Richard Law I went to school with…

Never heard of him prior to this thread.

My first thought was that he is a relative of the director named Law from the days of Jimmy Seed and the original Glikstens Stanley and Albert.

    Obviously not the case.

Got a decent rep in the analytics/data side of things since giving up the full time football involvement at Arsenal, if I recall correctly. I wonder who would have helped identify him as a NED though, because this is the sort of move a bigger club who could afford to pay a decent headhunter would look to make - or we're fairly well networked internally, which is also no bad thing. (I also wonder how much we'd be offering him for the couple of days a month I presume is what we're saying we'll call upon him for.)

Don't know how much this will affect things day to day, particularly as NEDs tend to be ones providing checks and balances and shouldn't be engaging in executive overreach, but if good things happen, then... good.

A cost of course. Hopefully his value outweighs.

So is this a ‘money out’ board appointment as opposed to a ‘money in’?

Out I'd say. He's a NED so we're almost certainly paying him for his expertise, experience and connections.

Not seen any indication that he's football club owner level wealthy.
