Anyone else need a break from football after a season of Nathan Jones ball.

I’ve done the maths and I went to 29 Charlton games in 25/26. Though I’m no football purist Nathan jones ball was an incredibly tough watch, and it’s the first time after I’ve felt I’ve need a break from football. Not even that excited for the World Cup…

Can’t wait for the World Cup, and for next season. Bring it on already.
Agreed. Already feels strange not watching our games, checking other results and league table.

I think you do need a rest. Not from Jones ball, football in general but for me a week is enough. My favourite memory of last season was Blackburn at home where we played brilliantly. The season before that Huddersfield at home. It shows we have it in us and with some shrewd signings there is something to build on. In Jones we trust.

    No.

Exited to see how we improve after getting the job done (rumour of one player bought and one sold already), seeing Villa, PSG and Rayo Valacano win trophies and then the World Cup.

No …. He done  what he had to to archive objective of 4th from bottom .. deserves all the praise he gets , cause everyone had us finishing bottom .. yet somehow NJ and his team kept us out the bottom 3 all season …

The domestic season really feels like it’s dragging on! Strange for there to be weeks of football left after we’ve finished up.

Most successful season in over a decade, didn’t drop into the bottom three once all season, nothing to complain about and can’t wait for next season.

This joke of a World Cup though….. 🥲

Nobody had us finishing bottom. Every single fan, pundit, tipster, expert and website had Sheffield Wednesday finishing bottom.
Most had Oxford second from bottom.
Many had us third from bottom, I grant you.

I always enjoy the break. Looking forward to the world cup.

I would always watch all the matches, but with the volume now, dead rubbers and late ko times, will pick and choose matches, prior to the round of 16.

I struggle with the fact that so many of us feel that the target, and success was 4th from bottom. If Nathan had been interviewed for the role at start of last season as a new manager, and said my aim is to finish 4th from bottom. I have no doubt he wouldn’t have got the job. Leicester, won the Premier with a squad that equated to ours of last season. I’m not saying I expect to win the Leauge, but was very disappointed with the way we fell away, and the matches were largely lacking entertainment. It wasn’t a great watch. However, we get another season in championship, but god I hope it’s better to watch than this one was.

Get towards the end of most seasons and I start to feel like I could do with a break, get more stuff done at weekends and a bit more variety.  I went to quite a few away games this season (for me! About 10-12 I think), so even more so.

After a couple of weeks though, I am already starting to miss it!  Roll on next season.

Nothing to do with Charlton at all, but this is the least I've ever been up for a World Cup, and it's the one England have the best chance in, during my lifetime

I'm going to need a bit more of an explanation on this one.

Nope. But I have never really noticed how we finished so far ahead of the premiership.
In terms of the World Cup the games fucked

I'm not convinced we've got a great chance. Obviously we should do better than most but i think the heat is going to kill us. A long hard season followed by playing games in extreme heat in places like New York and Miami will be a struggle for us.

I felt Qatar was our best chance because it was held in November when the season had barely started and we were pretty fresh. I hope i'm wrong though.

I’m looking forward to watching England grind out some hard to watch games with mates and being happy with it, while the PL fans expect the worst and talk about wanting England to play more attacking and exciting football.

I'm looking forward to the break because the Championship is a stressful league and I've spent the whole season following November fairly stressed in various amounts. We stayed up and now it's nice to not have to worry about it for a bit but it's got nothing to do with the football style.

Already bored, but accept the footballers need a break.
As for the World Cup it would be entertaining to see Iran win it.

Having watched the goal of the season video I can't wait for next season. I am not overly interested in the circus that will be the World Cup, other than the British interest, but it will tide me over until the mighty reds are back in action!

If you are struggling with that you will be struggling next season too, and probably a few more after that too. Next season realistically will be having the aim of "safe by March" instead of leaving it late. And that will be what the owners and NJ are both aiming for.

Thought we could leave the negativity behind for a bit now we've survived our first season.

Apparently people still aren't happy with how we did it!
