English players abroad

Good to see top flight English players heading abroad to play for massive clubs in the big leagues in increasing numbers.

Kane has absolutely smashed it at Munich and hopefully and deservedly wins the ballon d'or

Been a good few English lads like Sancho, Bellingham, Rashford, Conor Gallagher and others top flight clubs in Spain and Italy.

Hopefully it will pay dividends for us internationally. I remember the papers when I was a kid questioning whether players playing north of the border for Rangers should be eligible for England when Butcher, Woods, Stevens etc plyed their trade up there.

Must be great experience for the players too moving to completely different cities and cultures etc where they'll be idolised if they succeed.

Sometimes I wonder if being out the English media spotlight helps boost confidence and remove negativity, seems to have revitalised Rashford and earned him his place in the World Cup starting xi but then again other countries media can be just as brutal

Just don’t bother to learn the language and their words can’t hurt you!

I have nothing but total admiration for British and Irish players going abroad to play. It will only improve them and getting away from the UK media both legacy and social will be a break. The Spanish media are a notch up in terms of brutality but they tend to not dig private things up and just call you a pig-fucker if you have a 6 out of 10 in a big game or decide they don't like the way you run. Used to adore seeing gazza, Platt, Walker not looking out of place at all when they were in Italy and football italia was how my household watched live football. Hope more english players do it and embrace the language lifestyle and everything else different countries offer in the pursuit of a football career

I was in Munich last summer,  and there was something very pleasing about seeing young German children wearing Kane Bayern shirts.

Others have done well, but great to see an English player go to Europe and REALLY smash it.

Agreed. Kane and Bellingham especially have been great.

Obviously Lineaker embraced Spain and the language but the star was Michael Robinson (ex-Liverpool), who not only absorbed the culture but became a popular Spanish TV pundit.
