    Just saw this;

Power To The People: John & Yoko Live in NYC

A film of John Lennon’s last 2 concerts.

If like me you’re a fan you’ll love it. The band is great.

If you like horror Hokum is out.
All filmed around me in West Cork and made in our local studios.
No idea if it’s any good.

The Sheep Detectives is a great who dunnit and what fun. Always good to watch a film that can make you laugh and cry plus, what a cast.
    A must see.

Cheers. It was largely filmed in Hambleden in Bucks, one of my favourite dog walking spots. We'll go and see it purely for that, but I'm pleased with the favourable reviews.

Although not new releases, had a great time watching both Top Gun films at my local cinema yesterday, to mark 40 years since the original.

Enjoyable few hours and the surround sound added a lot to the original film, which I’d never had the opportunity to watch on the big screen.

My local was showing them back to back with Maverick first which seemed bloody stupid.

Thought Backrooms was fantastic. Genuinely weird, with some proper creepy stuff. Absolutely beautifully shot as well. Cracker.

We watched ladies first last night on Netflix

    Solid 7/10

Utterly stupid and only Sacha Baron Cohen could have played the lead and pulled it off. Glaringly obvious subversions the whole way through and lots of giggles if not belly laughs but good fun

Mega cast of Rosamund Pike who is brilliant, Charles Dance who is also very good. Richard E Grant, Tom Davies and several other British actors you will recognise all have good turns.

Its fairly easy and amusing and I enjoyed it

Anyone else looking forward to Disclosure Day, in our cinemas from 10th June ?

Tempted to catch this the day before the World Cup takes over my viewing schedule.

It’s been one hell if a dry spell in the cinemas over the past couple of months. Very uninspiring releases of late.
  • Saw the Mandolarian & Grogu yesterday, completely pointless film really. Can't understand why they even put it in cinemas frankly and felt like it could've easily been a 3/4 part TV arc or feature film for TV. It wasn't even bad just totally forgettable.
No link whatsoever to the wider SW universe with what's going on at that time. Disney seem to have completely lost their way with Star Wars.

    Agree

I will say I enjoyed it in an IMAX but that film was absolutely made to sell toys and merchandise not to enhance the genuinely interesting stuff they did with Andor and Ahsoka

Disney have such a ready-made canvass with so much potential for deep and excellent storytelling which probably isn't for a big film but to make use of their streaming platform.

    Mortal Kombat 2

    5/10

Less shit than the first one, the guy playing Kano absolutely steals the show. Not half as much gore as I'd hoped to get from a film about a video game that from my memory was exclusively gory and prided itself on outgoing the competition

Saw the Mandalorian film this morning, was very good.

Not a masterpiece of cinema but great to escape into fantasy for a couple of hours and plenty of action.

Been catching up with a few that have been on my list for a while.

Weapons - thought this was good, enjoyed the way it was done from various perspectives.

They Will Kill You - actually enjoyed it, properly over the top, some laugh out loud ‘kills’ and if you wait for the final credits you get the added bonus of music by The Mystery Lights

    The Bride - decent

The Good Boy - batshit crazy but pretty good

Watched Redux Redux... Interesting premise without getting too bogged down in exposition. Recommend it!

Just seen Disclosure Day - thought it was excellent. Not perfect but probably best film for years (assuming you enjoy Spielberg's ET & Close Encounters).

    Oooh, can't wait !

  • Disclosure Day: has its moments and some good scenes, decent production values but the storyline promises much but ends a bit empty. Full of ambition, becomes bloated whilst struggling to deliver a firm message, shock value or awe. 6/10 but a handful of 9/10 scenes. Spielberg doesn’t have anything new to say.

Saw Disclosure Day yesterday and usually run a mile from sci fi but had a great cast and Spielberg thought I would see it, have to say I really enjoyed it, thought as is usual with modern films a slightly too long 2 1/2 hours, probably one too many nearly caught chases and it's always hard to make aliens look anything but ridiculous but a great effort, would certainly give it a solid 8/10

Just home from DD at Pembury.

Really loved it ! Could have heard a pin drop throughout the 2+ hours.

What a treasure is Spielberg !

Exited the cinema a blubbbering wreck though....Thought it was very touching in parts especially in the latter stages.

Actors were excellent too with even a glimpse of Iain Dowie at the end.  :D

Dowie must have frightened the kids though!
