Age verification

I have received an email, supposedly from Charlton requesting proof of age verification. I have an over 65 season ticket and have had since I hit that age ie 8 years. 4 of the 5 tickets I bought are concessions. Every one is same category as last year. And that is what puzzles me.

Not keen to email passport/driving licence to them as I wouldn't be convinced their systems are fully secure to be honest.

Am I alone in this request?

    Several of my mates have recieved the same despite having a season ticket since we returned to the Valley.

    I have the email as my kids have concession tickets. 1st time in 3 seasons this has happened.

    I should Imagine if over 65 is cheaper tickets could be why as they want to make sure you aren't 25 or something getting cheaper tickets. Still isn't right them asking for things like passports or driving license, maybe send a selfie.

    If they have already taken your payment I'd feel inclined to ignore this.  Failing that, if you are able to get over there then pay them a visit.
    I fully get your concern regards sending the details over.  Perhaps you could WattsApp to a member of staff?

    I have checked with the club, they have checked my ST history and admit proof isn’t necessary.  I believe someone sent these emails out without thinking it through.

    I got the same email today as first year as an old codger.

    They did say they don't believe I'm that old as I look so young and vigourous.

    I will send some proof.

    I got it the e mail as well. I have five season tickets the only change is that my eldest grandson moved from u18 to U21 but don’t know why they want details as he has had a season ticket for ten years now! and I have paid the increased price for him the other three grandchildren remain in the category they were last season.

    Tough gig supporting Charlton, not sure selfies will reflect the true age !

    I got it the e mail as well.     Re above club got straight back to me and checked account and no additional verification is needed

    Can you send the DVLA link that's can be used to verify your driving licence categories and endorsements. I don't know if it has age details, but it may be worth checking out.

    I have ordered physical season ticket cards.
    The post is confusing as it says it won't activate my email until verification.

    Lol yes maybe redman is like Benjamin Button looks 80 but is actually in his 20s with all the stress of supporting Charlton!

    They did all this a couple of seasons ago. I think because they had switched computer systems and not carried forward the data from the old one. 
    Not sure I'd worry about your persona data. If it's hard copy they are just going to record that you are not a scrote trying to buck the system and throw it away/pass to a Kolkata call centre*

    *delete as appropriate.

    When you present your ST at the turnstile that just says "it's me, let me in".  Your credentials are checked and providing the ST has been activated and it hasn't been used for that match already, you can enter.

    Reminds me of when I started a new job a few years back and I had to give them my passport to copy to prove I was who I said I was. Fair enough.

    As the woman from HR was copying it she noticed it only had 9 months left before expiry.

    "You'll have to bring in a copy of your new passport when you get it." She said.

    "Why? It's still me in the photo and standing here, isn't it?"

    She just looked confused.

    Not had a season ticket for six years now. Are the tickets still the book with effectively match day tokens that you tear out when attending or are they now credit card type tickets ?

    no you get a bar code tattooed on your forehead which you waive in front of the scanner, after removing your bobble hat/ museum beanie (available in various colours & sizes) or comic red and white jesters hat as appropriate.

    I’ve just done one as I’m away next week, it doesn’t show your age or DOB.

    With the profile of this place you'd think it would be quicker for the club to just ask the u65s to send their proof of age in. Would save a lot of time

    I always go to the ticket office in person to pay for my season tickets.
    One old man one, and one man man one. My money was eagerly accepted there and then.
    They could’ve looked at my season ticket history.
    Looked at my old face.
    Asked for ID there and then.
    Told me about ‘digital’ age verification there and then.
    But instead they send me an email that suggests my entry to the ground is now under threat in comparison with every previous season when it wasn’t an issue.

    The underlings are set on a crap path by overlings.
    ’‘twas always the case.
    I bet words like ‘just’ and ‘obviously’ were used when giving out the orders.
    As in ‘it’s obvious all concessions are fiddling the deal, so you just alienate all season ticket holders by sending emails’.
    Clearly apologists will now ask ‘how else can we catch deal fiddlers?’
    My answer would be to ask right back ‘how did they do it in the days before mindless geeks and computers?’
