This is what the Guardian report says about him, before going on to make him man of the match:

"His languid style was capitalised on by Watford in the first half, when he was too easily beaten to - and off - the ball by motivated opponents."

Those who were there - is this true? From what I've seen he's more combative than that, and doesn't only perform when he's got space like that one trick pony Murphy.

yeah, i read that this morning, seems a bit harsh to me!!
  • no way, song was outstanding all game, especially in the second half, he was carrying the lazy gits like thomas and hasselbaink and the ineptitude of elk, fortune & snakofa through the first half - i felt genuinely sorry for him, he's on a different wavelength to them lot

first half he was pants like the other 10 in general. Was excellant in the second half as was ZZ. People moan at Lisbie, rightly so, but we didn't win because of our 1st half performance when he wasn't even on the pitch.

To be honest that comment could have applied to all 10 outfield players in the first half. Second half we got going and so did Song. His passing is brilliant. People talk about Bent coming back and giving everyone a lift but it's Song that has made the difference for me. Wonder if Arsenal will sell him though?

[cite]Posted By: daily telegraph[/cite]For 45 minutes Song strode around Vicarage Road like a colossus.

    His passing, with either foot, opened up the Watford back four: Matt Holland should have scored when Song put him through, Young did when given the opportunity to cut behind the defence, and the cross-field pass to Dennis Rommedahl three minutes from time turned the axis of the attack on its head: Rommedahl crossed and Darren Ambrose headed the equaliser. "Song's thrust for us in the second half was key to us getting a point," Pardew said.{/quote}

Thing is our our Three better players on Saturday were ZZ, Song & Carson all NON Charlton players but loaners, which is a bit worrying.

We have got an option on ZZ though haven't we? If we stay up, could possibly get the other two for another season again. This will probably put the kibosh on it, but why do I feel (relegation dependant) that Sidwell wants to come to us? Tangent alert!

Song got Man of the Match in the Current Bun this morning....
  • part of him reminds me of jensen.
he has great vision, the ability to use that vision, good 1st touch that gives him an extra second on the ball, and for a relatively big bloke has tremendous balance making him difficult to knock off the ball.

think song is way down the order at arsenal, im hopeful we might be able to nab him. Although if he keeps playin like he has it wont be a cheeky bargain.
  • Lets be honest he isn't going to be getting past Fabregas, Gilberto or Denilson is he? He's a class above what we have but doesn't come close to being a first team regular at Arsenal.
An Arsenal mate said he started 1 league game there away to Fulham, he was shocking and they hauled him off after going 2-0 down.

    Song for Song anyone?

    Perhaps based on this ...

Sing a SONG of sixpence, a pocket full of rye.
Four and twenty blackbirds, baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened, the birds began to sing.
Now, wasn't that a dainty dish, to set before the king?

He's still only 19 and expectations are much higher at Arsenal than at Charlton. In a season and a half I think he only played half a dozen games in total, presumably while the likes of Fabregas/Denilson/Silva etc were either injured, suspended or were being rested. Maybe he just froze a bit on the Fulham occasion, made a couple of errors and that was that.
  • Fair enough he's only 19 but so is Fabregas and Denilson is 18 so it's not as if they'd keep Song as one for the future. Just because he looks good for us doesn't mean anything to Arsenal other than a bit more cash when they sell as they look for world class players, where as we're happy to have any class tas we;re used to Hughes, Kish and Faye!!

Sing a Song of Charlton, our midfield supply.
4 goals a-gainst West Ham, helping us survive.
We shall win today's game, and isn't it a pity -
We sent the Palace down .... and we'll do it to Man City.
