The jills set to start the 7:45pm kick-off match tonight with only 7 men as the rest of the team are caught up in traffic gridlock on the A12.
The Ref (a certain Mr D'urso) won't put the kick-off back.

On BBCLondon.......talking about it now.

Thats a bit daft if its true
  • Apparently the Manager let the London based players make their own way to Brisbane Road, the rest of the team caught in "dreadful traffic".

Surely it cant go ahead and if it does, can players just run on as they turn up. Should be worth keeping an eye on and as Henry says, Come on you O's!

Nine gills players at the ground.
  • They have 11 players at the ground, 2 on the Central line and because the Teamsheet is already handed in will probably have to make substitutions as and when the others turn-up.
2 of the 11 are goalkeepers.

Probably turning up in their MKII Fiestas and can't get into the ground "No but im a player" "Yeah right sonny - jog on!!"
  • What are the rules on this? I.E. will the late arrivals be classified as starters or as subs?

  • Already handed the teamsheet in BFR.
  • BBC London and text contributors are citing 'severe common sense failure' by Mr Durso.
Half the Gills players and crowd caught in traffic gridlock.
  • Absolutely ridiculous. Games have been delayed loads of times when traffic has meant fans are late - but they can't put it back for players?! No real sympathy for Scally's Gills though. Tin-pot club, should be on a bus.
  • Why are Gillingham taking players from London?

Ha ha. Yeah, we don't have trouble transporting people from gillingham to london in time for kick off:)
Perhaps we could lend them a sat nav
That is harsh on the pikies though

We had to do it against palace one boxing day in the 80's
  • There's a story on the BBC...it seems that the referee Andy D'Urso had no jurisdiction to delay the match because there were seven Gillingham players present at the ground an hour before kick-off.

We can have fun with this one for years and years or at least every time a Gills fan raises his head above the parapet.

We had to borrow West Brom's away kit shorts for a TV game a couple of years ago too.
  • Great work those who managed to get a few shekels on the Os.

Was out so missed the chance - one very good reason to get an Iphone for Xmas so can log on and get stuck in myself should something similar happen in the future.
