    This reminds me of a "comedian" (can't remember the name) when the Woodman (Blackfen) tried to start up a comedy night - he didn't get laughs, he didn't didn't even get heckled - just complete silence. Poor bugger just wilted under the looks of sympathy.

    When he finished his set, he said. "I can honestly say that I hope a bird comes and sh*ts on every single one of you, you barstewards." He got a cheer for that!

    When I first went to the valley in the 1960s and stood with my father on the old east terrace there used to be a man who walked up and down the terrace selling peanuts. There was also a character who would stand behind the lino and give him stick all game following him up and down the line if he really wanted to vent his spleen. Plenty of room on the East terrace in those days.
