Madness, surely? He was touted as one of the best managers outside the Premier League a few months ago.

    That decision is as ridiculous as the Mark Hughes one. I would say I was surprised, but is any football manager sacking a surprise ?

    I live in Preston, and people are reacting with total shock. Hardly anyone thinks that this decision was a good one. They now face a backlash!

    Irvine will get another good job, did excellently for them in his two years, saving them from relegation one year then play offs the next. Reckon he could end up at Sheffield Wednesday.
