MK Dons have just made another decent midfield signing in the form of Arsenal's Mark Randall on a season long loan. Let's hope this is another sign that Punch is coming or they'll have a very handy midfield.

Far be it from me to come over all OohAah - but hero status for signing Jason Puncheon?!?!? Do me a favour.

There was an element of tongue in cheek about my comment - but it would certainly be a step in the right direction

Worried about Randolph. Other than Jack Binks who else is there as cover?

Can't see it mentioned but us and two other League 1 teams are supposed to be interested in Swindon's Billy Paynter (striker) according to The Times.

With the Priskin rumour it sounds like we're still hunting another goalscorer.

That means Sodje won't be coming back so we need someone else, would be great if we could gamble on Barnard but can't see it.

Seems so. Maybe as an alternative to Akpo.

Left Midfielders we seem to have been linked to such as Townsend and Puncheon

Not heard much about another Centre Back or another keeper which maybe suggests that 1. Randolph is staying 2. Rumours tell us nothing.

Can't we all club together to buy Barnard. Say 5000 supporters at £50 a pop. Easy!

Seeing how hard it was to get some people on here to cough up £10 and £20 for a shirt sponsorship I doubt it would be at all easy. : - )

One no! two you think it would cost £250,000 for barnard then? i have a feeling maybe a bit more, but think would be a good signing!

I think we'll wait until something goes wrong before we move for a CB or keeper, and concentrate on left wing and up front which i think need sorting now. I just we're not missing out on signings as we wait to ship others out!

The valuation a few weeks ago was around the £300k mark, when the Millwall rumour surfaced and their fan sites seem to agree with that so i'm guessing he's out of contract this summer.

It was a joke Johnny, I wasn't actually going to ask everyone to meet me in the lib before the next game!

Does Paynter look like Curbs then? :-)
  • Skysports has us linked with Billy Paynter from Swindon. I think this would be a good signing. Scored a few for them (including 1 against us). Do we have the cash though?
  • Cash money signing ! No chance.

Barnard would be a wonderful statement of intent but as Shooters Hill Guru says- No chance and sadly I agree 100%. I really believe with someone like that promotion would be more likely than not.I am sure size wise Charlton would be far more enticing prospect for the player than Southend United (with all due etc...) I reckon he will be off before the window shuts.

Not so keen on Paynter, did not overly impress at The Valley and not really what we need, think we may need a bit of pace upfront rather than another hold up/target man. Also Paynter has never scored that regularly and I don't think we should judge him on half a good season for Swindon

i'd take either of them :-) although i feel up front we have quite a few but these two are goalscorers which in a way we have Deon but they are different players and would work well with Deon, still that said i would rather we sort out left midfield with a certain Puncheon.

Its starting to mildly annoy me now that im looking at transfer clockwatch and never anything about charlton, i do hope we sign someone!

Haha and what about Dizzy Izzy the weekend had a good chance to put Peterborough in front, but missed suprisingly! then had to be subbed as they got a player sent of, problem is to get him of our books we need him to play well and get a few goals

    from the BBC :

Charlton manager Phil Parkinson has praised the club's board of directors for trying to raise transfer funds.

Parkinson hopes to bolster his promotion-chasing squad with new signings before the closure of the January transfer window.

He told BBC Radio Kent: "The board are working exceptionally hard to give the club every chance of getting promoted.

"At the moment I'm not sure how much room for manoeuvre there is. But I expect it to become clearer soon."

Parkinson confirmed that striker Izale McLeod's loan to Peterborough had allowed him to re-sign Reading's David Mooney on loan.

He added: "Apart from Yassin Moutaouakil going out and Dean Sinclair returning to Barnet, I don't envisage anyone else going.

"So anyone else coming in would be additional to what we've got."

Considering the financial doodoo we're in i'll be very happy if we keep all our stars and ecstatic if we actually add to the squad! Think it may be a waiting game for a while yet.

    Taken from today's Sun:

CHARLTON defender Jose Semedo is a £1million target for Bristol City.

Semedo, 20, was a free from Sporting Lisbon in June 2007.
