Hi all,

I recently posted a video on here and am ready to start a new video project for which i need your help! I'm going to post this on every Charlton forum i can, hopefully i can gather enough information to complete the video. All i want is your favourite Charlton player. It doesn't have to be obvious, he could be your favourite Charlton player for whatever reason! For example, Dennis Rommedahl for scoring a great goal at palace...Then hopefully i can do a top 10 video montage of YOUR favourite players!

So please as many people as possible list your favourite player below.

Cheers

    No Keith Peacock, Henry?

Nor Paul Went, Peter Reeves, Harry Gregory, Graham Moore, Alan Campbell, Matt Tees or Ray Treacy.

Johnny Robinson is down as defence as well!

Is that an an official list Henry or your own opinion, cos if it's official why the hell is Matt Holland in there? International caps I suppose, but we had much better players than him for similar lengths of time who aren't in there. Grahame Stuart for example.

From a personal perspective I'd love to see a video montage of some of Morts best bits, apart from maybe Di Canio he was easily the most individually skillful Charlton player of the last 20 years.
  • For me its Johnny Robinson - love the little fella!

    Honourable mention to:
Chris Powell - great player and all round nice guy
Scott Parker - AT THE TIME he was a fave - best player I've ever seen in a Charlton shirt
Claus Jenson - shame injuries got the better of him, was awesome on his day
Richard Rufus - as above, shame on the injuries, and despite being excellent had some mad moments (such as punching the ball away from a corner only to claim he'd been pushed....by Harry Potter in his invisibility cloak as replays suggested....cannot recall the game)

And I guess in a bygone age, and I was only young at the time, pretending to be Andy Jones in the playground...yes Andy Blooming Jones :(

Oh, and Matt Tees, apparently he's the reason I'm called Matthew - it was either that or Robin.

    Just semantics, Exiled!

Matt scored goals he was never entitled to get on the end of.

Dad was always impressed at Matt Tees' aerial ability, and how effective he was in the air against a big lump centre half - especially as he was fairly lightweight.

See Mr Mooney, you can be lightweight and effective in the air.
It's a combination of timing and courage.

My old man's always banging on about starting his runs to meet corners from the edge of the box, thus giving him a running jump and the edge on taller players. Makes a lot of sense to me - Tony Adams used to do it well but you don't see many players employ the tactic these days. Most corners seem to be in-swingers which doesn't hel.p

One tactic at corners we used to use was the near post flick on.

Paddy Powell would dink a corner towards the near post/6 yard box and Flanagan would meet it and flick it on with his head over the CB and keeper - and onrushing at the far post to meet the flick would be Killer or one of our CB's.

Sometimes, Flash would back flick it with his head looping it straight inside the far post. The goals we used to score from that move. Hardly rocket science, is it?

I mention this because if you watch the Huddersfield/Leeds video, you'll see Leeds scored twice from this tactic.
