Some experts claiming 5 days of closures to be totally safe. Don't think I'd be in any hurry to fly if they said any earlier in all honesty. Wouldn't want to be the man that said it was safe to go then to be proved wrong...

My flight today from Pisa is cancelled so missing Norwich :0((

Easyjet cant get us home until Tuesday......

I'll leave an address for where food parcels are to be sent :0)))

I'd appreciate genuine info, as the UK media sites are crap.
  • I've got a mate stuck in New York and another in Paris. Both of them are moaning about not being able to get back to London.

My girlfriends Mum and Sister are stuck in Egypt, not sure when they're gonna get back. Sounds like havoc. But like I said before it sounds like for once safety has really come first which I think is commendable.

    :o)

I've hired a car and am currently sat in a cafe in La Jonquera (right on the French border). Mmmm... Waffles!

Company is paying for it because I need to be back tonight to do some server work - and it's a good job too, cos the toll roads are bloody expensive! Only another 500 miles to go...

Is the smugness really necessary Creepy?
I, like thousands of others, are set to lose hundreds of pounds because of this - oh, and miss out on the one and only holiday we could afford this year.

There is another larger volcano next to the one that is active. It is well overdue to erupt. Last time it did, in the 19thC, it went on for 23 years! Of course aviation was not a problem then.
None of us may ever fly again.
Anyone else getting slightly worried about all the natural disasters so far in 2010? Lots of earthquakes, floods etc and now this. Is it just me? Seems far more than normal. Or is it the fault of 24 Hour News Channels?

I hear the ABI don't recognise the act of god exemption

ABI on act of god exemption

wow sometimes it is actually 'useful' that I work in reinsurance..

essentially check your individual policy clauses to see what is actually covered and what is not.

Not being smug at all mate, as for money lost, I am a cabbie at Gatwick and I've got no passengers to take home at all.
Work has been declining for two years now, hence the hols in this country.

I was meant to be flying to Venice today with the Mrs for our 1st year wedding anniversary. Our BA flight at 16:10 is now cancelled so we're not going. Fortunately BA have re-booked us in again for the 11 June and the hotel we had booked into ahve amended the booking as well for nothing. So we've not lost out and I now get to go to the Naaarwich game. Happy days!!!! (Looks round to check wife can't see the screen).

Just had an email from BA saying:

"All British Airways flights departing to and from the UK are cancelled until at least 1am UK local time on Saturday morning."

    Oh dear.

Girl at work was meant to be leaving to Rome at 7am tomorrow morning and her flight has been cancelled already. You can check status of flights on the site.
  • Does anyone know how it works once they do start running again. Do they just continue with the normal schedule and fit delayed passengers in where they can, or do delayed passengers get priority?
For example if they start running on monday, do passengers with flights booked for monday fly as normal, or do monday flights get filled with delayed people from saturday/sunday?

I flew with BA during the strikes and they told me that if a flight is cancelled then they offer a full refund or will try and fit you onto another flight. Many airlines have arrangements with other carriers, and use these to assist delayed passengers. Although, the whole delays were down to BA, not quite sure how it works with weather difficulties.
