Utterly sick this is, though as this group was started by a Millwall "fan", not incredibly surprising. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page there is a link to report the group.

Someone has decided to start a FB groups called "I support charlton LOL jk, im not disabled." Apart from the offensiveness of the title there is a photo of some wheelchair users with the caption "Wheelchair C**ts".

Lowest form of society, why have a cheap laugh at the expense of someone else's disability. I think the creator should be stuck in a chair for the rest of their life.

No it's been blocked already Nolly. I'm pleased that there are people at facebook ready to monitor the content of these groups and act so quickly. As someone who's worked with wheelchair bound children who support Charlton I was particularly offended. Unbelievable.

it's probably just a kid with a grudge against a charlton fan, hopefully they'll mature as they get older

It was a kid but there were already 49 people who liked the group, some of whom were old enough to know better.

That group isn't as bad. At least it's just a bunch of socially inept idiots knocking against each other. Why is it possible to even start a group on FB using the "C" word?

Because they would have to ban Scunthorpe and why would you want to do that?

Some charlton fans started a group last year that went something like Fxxx off Butterfield, back to palace you Cxxt", I wondered then how the c word was allowed to be used so liberally on FB.

Why would it not be allowed, it's a word.

For the same reason that it is a word that we have been spoken to about by AFKA on here, but then if you don't know then that's your problem.

No, we've been spoken to it by AFKA because in the opinion of those who run this site, it's a word they don't want used.

Facebook didnt make that decision and allows adults (well, mainly adults, under 13's arnt allowed on facebook anyway) to make a decision about the language they wish to use themselves. Don't see how thats weird at all. Freedom of speech n all.

I'm sorry, but I really cant see how stopping people from using offensive language in facebook groups could in any way be deemed an infringement of anybodies freedom of speech?

Sure, in normal conversation and in context the use of certain words is entirely acceptable. But if you are setting up a facebook group you would normally do so to promote a cause or opinion and in doing so the use of words like the "C" word is totally inappropriate. I can't think of how the "C" word could possibly be used in any way other than in a derogatory manner intended to deliberately cause offence.

Do you know what this is called? An opinion. Do you know what the great thing about opinions is? Everyones is different.

Really? So posting a photo of disabled people on facebook with the caption "Wheelchair C****" is perfectly acceptable as far as you're concerned?

No, not at all, I was refering more to Kap's post about the word c*** being allowed to be used on facebook.

Thats exactly why facebook has the report button. People can express themselves exactly how they want, if you think someone has crossed the mark a simple click on the report button will have it sorted.

However, in my opinion, a picture of a charlton face with the caption "trainspotting c****" would be 100% ok.

Freedom of speech is the right to hold an opinion and express that opinion. Don't think it pertains to free use of that word.

I mean, call a copper a C-unit and see how far shouting 'freedom of speech' will get you as you're being carted off in the meatwagon!

I think the point is not the language itself but the way it is used to incite hatred. That is the definition of the Facebook terms of use. As I said earlier, there are some words that are only intended to deliberately provoke a reaction based on hateful and disrespectful regard for a person or group of people. Yes, I agree with you but while that is an opinion, it isn't an opinion developed from an intelligent and well reasoned argument, but the literary equivalent of a drunk teenager standing on a street corner swearing at some social group or other and expecting to get away with it.

Why not take your example of "trainspotting c****" and replace the word trainspotting with black, Jewish, whitetrash, gypsy, etc. It doesn't work. There is no place for that kind of language at any time.

but trainspotting c... is not the same as them.
