Anyone saying that is a total wally, not least for the fact that we won't be "getting rid" of him, he'll be moving on and upwards for hopefully a decent fee

Unfortunately, after Jonjo he has become our most saleable asset, so suspect we'll be selling to the highest bidder, which is a real shame, as the guy knows how to put in a real gutsy display and as, if not more importantly does not freeze in front of goal.

he'll be sold, because we need the money and he is one of the few players we got which we could get money for.

I've just written a post about why we'll miss Nicky Bailey when he goes - but I've just got thrown out of the site and lost the post. Ho hum. You'll just have to imagine what I've written.

Bailey will always make mistakes, unfortunately he made a few key mistakes last night, but yeah if he goes I think we will miss him next season.

Bailey has put his heart in during his time at the club, the person that started that group needs to wake up and get to school, Bailey your efforts are appreciated throughout the proper fans. Let's just hope you stay and prove a point.

I just imagined your post and found it tedious and illogical, get a grip Oggy!

I can't be bothered to point out all the inaccuracies, silly rhetoric and downright bizarre statements you made in the post I imagined, so you'll just have to imagine that I've made an angry rebuttal

But I don't agree to your imaginary reply to my nonexistant post, Sussex ...... and so in any case, you must be wrong !

Fair play Oggy, we'll agree to disagree on both imaginary points

Now that was easy. I think Charlton life would be far more efficient on a purely conceptual level!

Haven't we learnt from the last few years that getting rid of your better players doesn't improve things. It's hard to replace them. For all the mistakes he does make, Bailey is still one of our better players. More likely he'll be a Championship player in the future than a lot of players here. We know he can score just as often in the league above, and that was in our poor side.

    Bailey to Southampton.

They've got the money, they know each other, not too far to travel from Bromley (OK, it's a bit of a drive everyday).

Can anyone remember the enormous gap Bailey filled left by the departure of Andy Reid? The first I saw him play for us I could see that he gave our side more shape and balance. He's a hard tackler, wins balls and generally passes well. Anyone that would be pleased to see him go is a complete idiot.

Would love to think he will stay....he certainly has some 'unfinished business' to complete.
Hearing one or two stories re how utterly shattered he was on Monday evening (and since) he just can't take it all in.
He's got a great family around him to support him but obviously he's very very down, lot's of tears and anguish all round.
Anyone who even thinks for one moment that he hasn't taken this personally knows nothing about him, he's in a complete quandry of course....knows he wants to stay in order to put things right for everyone but at the same time the club just may 'have' to sell him anyway.
Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I've no doubt he desperately wants to stay and put things right by us but will he get the opportunity....only time will tell?

Sell him. He hasn't lived up to his potential and plays best in a 5 man midfield which we don't play

Remember him making his debut matches alongside Matty Holland in CM - Matty was a solid and steadying influence on him and enabled him to get forward (much like Matty was when Jonjo made his debut matches).

So maybe Bailey, like Jonjo, needed that old head beside him?

I thought Bailey, after a nervous start, was outstanding in that sparkling 4-2 win over top of the league Reading on the telly.
And while he hasn't always shown a quality 1st touch and vision, he plays with his heart, gutsy and determined - and not afraid to stand up and be counted.

Opposing managers rate him highly. He's brought a lot to the Charlton team table,

He was great that day and it looked like we'd found the midfield general we'd been missing but he hasn't lived up to that form. Sorry to keep banging this drum but he hasn't made the central spot his own after two seasons, if he was really that good there'd be no question of putting him out wide as he has been time after time.
